Chen GuanLing recently set new junior world records at junior worlds. Making a 217KG total in the 55KG class.
While she did win worlds last year she improved her performance from then by 13KG. If she made this performance in the Tokyo Olympics when the 55KG class was an Olympic category she would have won bronze.
If you go back even further you can compare this performance to another Taiwanese lifter Hsu Shu ching. In Rio she won gold in the 53KG category with a 212KG total.
Before this she set a 233KG total world record in the category at the 2014 Asian games which would stand until the categories were reset. That total currently ranks her as the third highest female lifter by Sinclair (source ironwise).
Hsu was 23 when she set her world record total. Chen will be 23 in 2028, if she has the same rate of progress it will be very interesting to what kind of numbers she will put up in 2028. Potentially battling it out with the current world record holder Kang Hyon-gyong of North Korea.
Junior Worlds is a great place to see the next generation of lifters. I have a video on it coming out soon so be aware and subscribe to my RUclips channel for more weightlifting videos.

@@roylee2978You don't refer to someone's nationality by the city they live in. Taipei is what the Chinese chose to call Taiwan as they don't recognize it as a sovereign nation. Otherwise china insisted they were simply the ROC and shouldn't have their own team.
