  • Hydrogen is a gas that is appreciably soluble in aluminium and a major impurity that can have a significant effect on casting properties.
This technical lecture, on portable measurement of hydrogen in aluminium, delivered by Mr. Andy Moores of EMC Limited to the Institute of Cast Metals Engineers in June 2021, demonstrates available technology in place to help measure, monitor and control hydrogen to improve metal quality for the castings industry.

Is this why molten aluminum explodes when water is added???👍

When you add water, it becomes vapor at atmospheric pressure almost immediately and just a little amount of liquid turns into a huge amount of gas - if you use the Clapeyron equation you could check it. So, this is an "explosion".
