Honestly folks, you need to read his books. They are all hysterical. They are the only books which have had strangers looking at me on trains, planes, etc for laughing out loud, and not being able to stop!
Linking in with the Irish roots aspect and the uncontrollable laughter on a plane, I had the same experience reading a book called McCarthy's Bar by Pete McCarthy
I agree. If you`ve never seen the interview he did with the Bee Gee`s... here`s the link: ruclips.net/video/VHa6vYq6Nyk/видео.html Absolutely cringe worthy! The comments section on the RUclips clip was turned off... and with good reason!
Genius and so sadly missed, the Master of Mirth , his books are absolute brilliant reads, i have never laughed or cried so much from someones writing. Loved Spike.
He's wunn of my heroes, he died the years I wsa born. God I love the chap. He is such a funny little chap. Indian chap's usually have brilliant sense of humours, or ought that too be senses of humour. He certainly has a great gift for black humour. I wish they would release CD box sets of THE GOOM SHOW, have they done that?
There are few UK based comedians i can stomach taking the mick out of the Irish .. Frankie, Jimmy Carr .. Coogan .. and of course .. the greatest of them all .. Spike.
If there`s one person I can`t stand... it`s Clive Anderson! He`s about as charismatic as a wet piece of cardboard. The Bee Gee`s interview made history as the most disrespectful, condescending, spectacle to ever have been aired on British T.V. Anderson should have been banned from television right then and there! Here`s the link if you`ve never seen it: ruclips.net/video/VHa6vYq6Nyk/видео.html
Wonderfully warm, eccentric genius. This man is the pinnacle of great comedy.

Just re reading his war memours again
Which ones would you recommend?
@@redred9882 the old testament is hilarious.. you will not put it down.

always enjoy listening to him. I am reminded of his cameo in Life of Brian. Miss him. We were richer in this world with him.
Think he played the husband of Raquel Welch in Three Musketeers, not a bad acting role!
I’ve not seen this before but it’s a classic example of the average trying to match the genius but failing miserably...:-)
"You don't deserve one." Truer words were never said, Clive.

This was one guest the a h couldn't get the better of .
You cannot compare the genius of this great man to todays "comedians". They are not fit to wipe his ass.
Well I’ve always loved Spike now I love him just a bit more.
Can I become an Irish citizen? Oh jaysus, yes! We're awful short of people!
Genius and so sadly missed, the Master of Mirth , his books are absolute brilliant reads, i have never laughed or cried so much from someones writing. Loved Spike.
"They told me to reapply I said fuck that! "
Spike Milligan legend.
Spike was a genius. Reminds me of my dad
Spike was right, Q8 was legendary.
Comedy genius. Greatly missed. Loved, his comedy, & observations on, life.
Only one thing wrong with this interview. Too short! I will always love Spike.
May Spike Milligan Rest In Peace
One of the greatest comedy minds in history. Aussie, Aussie, Aussie.
Any reason you wrote Aussie, Aussie, Aussie? He was Irish-English and was born in India. Just wondering
@@eamonosullivan2702 His family moved to Australia after the war. He became a resident of Woy Woy.
Aussie Aussie Aussie - Woy! Woy! Woy!
Such a naturally funny man
He is the funniest man that ever lived.
Still brilliant at any age.
Ladies and gentlemen, the late, great, Spike Milligan…
The real take on the Pythons copying Spike, is (from the Pythons' own mouths), when they saw Q they said, "That bastard has beaten us to it!"

Go find Q.... Go off with you. And "The Bed Sitting Room". Ive told you, now GO, GO, GOOOOOO!!!!
Spike was one of the greats
classic and unique.
Hilarious. The best ever.

Billy Connolly also, but there's no malice in it.
Interestingly enough, the interview you got with Spike was the one you deserved.
I didnt get a prize well you didnt deserve one lol
Clive Anderson and Sandi Toksvig are uncannily alike
Yes I agree, they are both creepy and greasy.
Sadly, yes. And still, we know which is the better man of the two.
Very funny, quip!
And equally unfunny and off putting.
He made Clive Anderson look stupid by being smarter and funnier
Love how the Irish took him
Imagine being the man that influenced Monty pythony
So it's Spike's fault we got that swathe of Pride and Prejudice and Zombies type novels 10 years back or so.
Brilliant
Type in
Spike Milligan - Room 101
Richard Pryor - Long Beach is the G.O.A.T.
OUTRAGESLY FUNNY!!
Who's in trouble, now?
Genius
Comedy genius.
Didn't he shoot his paperboy with an air rifle?
I vaguely knew his book editor. Spike was loved by everyone, apart from those who knew him.
John Clease is stifling boring...
punk rock

That's insulting to wet cardboard, you know....
And I'd swear that at the very end of this piece he refers to his esteemed guest as "Mike Milligan".
Do yourself a favour buy spikes books
