MAC is always my go to brand. I’ve been lured away by new brands but I always return to my first love!
Hi Risa, Enjoy the studio Fix now while you still can! All through my 30's, 40's & until I was 51 Studio Fix powder and or foundation were my holy grail. I could not be without them! I loved these products so much that I repurchased the New Studio Fix foundation again 3 weeks ago. Now keep in mind I will be 60 this Dec. This foundation looked horrible!!! It made my skin look older & super dry and showed every line on my face!!! I took it back to the store 3 days later.
My husband even noticed how bad it looked and he never says anything about my makeup! I was so shocked that something I loved so much when I was younger could look so bad on me know! I think we need to keep changing what we use as our skin ages! Now I love Kevin Aucoin sensual skin fluid foundation, serum foundations, and luminous moisturizing ones seem to look best now. I still love all my Mac blushes and paint pots, eyeshadows. The soft and gentle highlighter is beautiful! Mac lipsticks and nymphet gloss are still in my holy grail lip products I can't live without!
I totally agree with you Sandy! We definitely need to change products as our skin changes. I’m glad you found something else that you love!
Sadly, once I hit 45ish... I couldn’t use paint pots at ALL anymore. Once texture and dryness come into play it’s over. Funny story; I actually marched into Mac and asked why they had changed their formula! The poor girl in her 20’s struggled not to tell me I just got old. I refused to hear her say that it’s not good for textured, dry eyes because I’d been wearing it for years. What did she know? I actually exchanged it for a NEW ONE! Because for sure my existing on was dried out or a bad batch. Again, wth? Oh the day I realized it was ME and not the paint pot was a sad day, indeed. But the good news is no more oil and my skin is dry. Which had me buying new foundation. 🙄 Welcome to your 50’s. 👋🏼

I just turned 45 and things are definitely changing. I am finding I can use very little of the the paint pot for the same reason you mentioned. It seems to be getting drier and drier on me. It’s fantastic for the younger people though!
Hmm, I just turned the big 5-0 and recently discovered Painterly and love it!
Hi! I had the same problem with the paint pots ! (I'm 36) But I was bound & determined to make it work ! lol. I had almost a full pot of ocre (the one that's such a perfect base color ) I needed something more than most eye lid primers, that have no color. I wanted that cream base to even out my lids and cover the veins, etc.. so I played around with it and found that if I take a little bit of one of the others (smashbox 24 hr shadow primer works great for this!) and put a little of that on my finger first, then dip into the paint pot and swirl it around together, it makes it the PERFRCT creamy consistency & it's not at all drying !! Something worth trying if you still have some paint pots you want to be able to use. Hope this helps !! :)
(I've also added a couple drops of visene to it. It makes it less dry and is obviously safe for your eyes) but mixing with a bit of the smasbox is my favorite. Makes it so much better & creamier and lasts all day

It’s nice to see someone going “old school” a bit. There are so many new trendy releases but since I’ve I it had access to Mac for a year or so; I’m just now learning about the classics in the line and have been enjoying the quality of the few things I’ve purchased.
I have so many MAC favorites and repurchases!!! Prolongwear concealer. Paint pots-soft ochre and bare study. Blush-pinch o’ peach, breath of plum and springsheen. Eyeshadows-blanc type, satin taupe, woodwinked, naked lunch & bamboo. Lipstick-twig, blankety, viva glam II & creme in your coffee. And of course mineralized skin finish in soft & gentle...I have almost finished one pan and will repurchase!

I love this because MAC has been largely forgotten on youtube. They have some great "staple" products. My favorite MAC products are the studio fluid foundation, the prep and prime strobe cream, the prep and prime oil control brightening primer, the prep and prime eyshadow primer (which is great for oily/textured lids) and their eye kohl pencils.
My favorite Mac products are probably their blushes, and my favorite one is warm soul. Peaches and Melba are probably my next two favorites, although I really like Blush baby and cubic, which I think is discontinued.

Thank you for mentioning the issue with breaking out from the Mac powder. That was me, and since then I have been too afraid to use any Mac Foundation or powder products
Thanks for the video, Rosa, always nice to see MAC in the spotlight! It’s my sentimental favorite and was the gateway into my makeup “addiction.” My MAC holy grails: Fix+, Extended Play mascara, All That Glitters eyeshadow, Pure Zen lipstick, In Synch lipliner and the Gravitas palette (from the Brooke Shields collab a few years ago). For the last few years I’ve declared October as MACtober as a reminder to pull out and use my wonderful MAC products that have fallen to the side in favor of “newer and more exciting” products from other companies. MAC, I may not be as loyal to you as I once was, but you’ll always be my tried and true all time favorite.
Great idea to revisit MAC. Made me remember how many great products Favorite eyeshadows: Texture, Soft Brown, Saddle, Uninterrupted, Amber Lights. Lips: Subculture and Stripdown pencils- Cherish, Yash, Velvet Teddy lipsticks- Oh Baby, Nymphette, C Thru lipglasses. And of course Fix + and Strobe Cream. 💗
MAC blot powder is my holy grail and I haven’t found any blot powder that compares to it! I have oily combo skin and this product works so darn good! I have tried so many blot powders and I also keep going back to MAC. 👍🏼

As someone with normal to dry skin that needs very little coverage, I love MAC Studio Face & Body Foundation. It’s the most skin like product I own. I use Soft Ochre Paint Pot over my eye primer daily as well. I use my Nordstrom C’est Chic x15 palette often. It’s all mattes & is a perfect companion to my shimmery singles.
Oh my gosh, finally someone with my exact coloring 🥺🥺! You are so amazingly knowledgeable and this is the most special lesson to me because your exact shades are always the specifics that work for me, wanted to jump through the screen and hug you! Now I can blindly take reccomendations for shades from a MUA, amazing 🥲🥰
Oh, the pump tip about them fitting the EL Double Wear is gold. I just heard another big RUclipsr give a knock to EL DW for the lack of a pump. Great tip, among all the great tips about MAC products!
I love love love MAC’s Next To Nothing Pressed Powder. It’s fantastic. It blurs my pores and doesn’t emphasize texture or wrinkles. I’m in my 50s and have combination skin.
I haven't used anything from MAC, yet, but I am excited to try the different colors of eyeshadow, blush, and lipstick that you shared. They all look so beautiful. Thank you so much for telling us about these products. I can't wait to see what a full face of these makeup items look like on my face.
In my opinion the new eyebrow pencils are different, they are softer and the colors appear a bit lighter. The new pencil also has a spoolie.. I’m not a happy camper about this change. My fav foundation is Face & Body. Wish they extend the shade range and leave things alone that aren’t broken.

I love the Mac Mineralized Skin Finish Natural pressed powder. On my very dry skin, this powder works really well to lightly set foundation where almost no other powder does. I also really enjoy the Fix+ and cream blushes. The truth is that I’ve done quite well with everything I get from Mac except the cream pot shadows because they are too drying. I appreciate this video, especially because I don’t hear many positive reflections on this brand except for the lipsticks.
I’m late to the party - just discovered Fix Plus a year ago and I LOVE it. I recently got some eyeshadows and a lipstick I love. I prefer the Luster lipstick over the cream sheen. I love that sweater on you. You look pretty in soft colors.

I have very few MAC products, just the paint pot in Painterly which I absolutely LOVE, Fix+ setting spray and a couple of lip glass colors.
I love it when you do anything Mac related. It is one that is easily available here in South Africa. I have been using Mac for 13 years now, and it has always been my "go-to" I recently bought Woodwinked after watching one of your videos, and I LOVE it. Wedge and Embark have been favourites for me. Please do more tutorials with Mac xx
I also absolutely love the MAC lip liners. Spice is my favorite and I use that almost every day. It matches my lip color almost perfectly and I love a good nude lip 😊
I have dry skin but I have been using NC 20 studio fix powder foundation for many many years. Highlight I have candlelight but I think it’s been discontinued. Fav lipstick is Angel and spice lip liner. Great video!
I love mac makeup. I realized my daily makeup usually has 2 or 3 mac products. I wear the lip liner in oak or stripdown everyday. Mac face and body is my all time favorite foundation. Mac mineralize skinfinish is my most purchased powder. I have purchased 4 mac peachstocks. And I don't even know how many fix +.

I love the Face & Body foundation (very dry skin here), Pro Longwear concealer, Lipglass in Prrr, Paintpot in Painterly, and lately loving the Iridiscent Powder in Silver Dusk

I love and will continue to repurchase Mac fix plus, Mac soft and gentle highlighter... I have so many yet every time I use it I love the look more than others, also Mac paint pot in vintage selection, the fastest eye prettiest simple eyeshadow look in less that 2 mins! Xxx
Hey Risa! I loved this video! MAC will always be in my top two favorite makeup brands of life! My favorites include: Honeylove lipstick and Boy Toy lipgloss, Soar lipliner, Quarry-Soft Brown-Swiss Chocolate-Embark-Naked Lunch in eyeshadows and the Mineralized Skin Finish pressed powder. For primer I LOVE Prep and Prime Natural Radiance, especially under longer wearing, more matte foundations. For blush it’s a tie between Blush All Day and Cubic. Fix plus... I use the matte version, and when they bring out the scented ones, I pick s couple of those up... I LOVE the lip liners, they are not too creamy... favorite blush - warm soul, favorite lipsticks: Russian red (I always have to have a red), syrup, smoked almond and fawn; lip glass - boy bait and oh baby... I don’t have a lot of gloss

Angelica Gutierrez I completely agree!!! I’m 62 with dry combo skin that’s easily irritated and Face & Body feels like a good moisturizer to start with then light to light medium coverage that makes my skin look young & fresh. Try it!!! The MAC ladies will give samples. It’s how I found out about it and what shade works for me. Take a sample home first because the lights in the store are awful and you might need to fine tune the shade a bit.
You can mix both foundations Studio fix and face and body😋

Love, love, love this video! First time I tried MAC I was in my early 40's. I'm 51 now....maybe I'll revisit the MAC counter. It is a staple brand and it should have more love on You Tube.
My favorite lipstick of all time is Mac Pur Zen. Perfect peachy pink against my fair skin/auburn hair. You look very pretty and that blue top looks amazing on you.

Everyone is going to hate me but I don’t have a lot of mac. I got 2 , 4 eyeshadow quads and the makeup didn’t last And I got an eyeliner that didn’t like me either. So yeah. I so want to try some others. But fix plus is a must

Great video! You are the first person I’ve seen than does the same thing I do with the paint pot. I bought this thinking it would be a great primer for me as everyone else seems to think so but it didn’t work for me and my shadows creased. Was so disappointed but I figured out I could make it work great if I used another primer first. Didn’t want to waste it and not use it. So I use too faced shadow insurance first then the paint pot on top. You have also reminded me I should use my soft and gentle again. It’s been a while haha.

I love MAC!!! Up till last year I could only get it online or in our already busy trips to the big city! It’s how I found you Risa, as I scoured RUclips for accurate reviews and swatches.
Thing is MAC is like Clinique-they are the most reasonable price in department store brands. Quality is excellent and the shade range is so inclusive. I’m a big fan.
I’m 62, dry combo skin, lots of redness and allergies. N1 or NW15.
My favourites:
ProLongWear concealer.
Studio Fix powder foundation
Fix plus spray which makes any dry look disappear whether from powder foundation just dusted onto SPF or from Estée L Double Wear around 2 pm.
Love but I’m allergic to the spf in Studio Fix liquid foundation and WaterWeight foundation.
Face & Body foundation is all I ever wanted in a BB cream. Moisture and light coverage with no spf to bother me. Wow!!!
Blush in Pinch O Peach & Melba
I don’t need eyebrow pencils anymore after discovering how nicely the eyeshadows in Coquette & Charcoal Brown work.
They double as eyeliner too because I’m allergic to eyeliner pencils. These powder shadows even tightline without irritating my sensitive eyes. They don’t fallout or transfer. They stay put as eyeliner all day long. And unlike liquid eyeliner or pencils they go on with a soft line that doesn’t show all my wrinkles.
I’m allergic to paint pots but I found a great Painterly powder eyeshadow in the shade ORB.
I ended up buying the cheap refill eyeshadow pans to form my own personal palette of 15. I’ve got 9 more that are nice but I won’t buy again.
The eyeshadows by MAC just work so well. A lot of them like Charcoal Brown or Coquette can be blended out to nothing on top of some powder foundation so they work all over from liner, brows to crease& lid shades. I don’t get fallout from the shimmer ones in my favourite list below and they last all day. I do use Milani eye primer always anyway and they never crease on me.

I hated Shroom- it was the first thing I bought from MAC. Such a shiny fallout prone shadow. I remember thinking it made me look like a lizard at a disco. Fortunately I moved on from there.
Another one I truly hate is the shade called Honesty. What a mess. It refuses to show up on my pale lids at all but it prefers to drift down into glitter dandruff all over my face.
Soft Brown is orange on me- I’m too pale & cool for it to work but I love the soft blending it does.
For lip stuff I’ve bought 4 now of the prep n prime lip stuff.
I love Boldly Bare & Dervish lipliners.

I’ve tried Russian Red at the store & am planning to buy one for December and Christmas parties.
But some like Kinda Sexy & Mocha are going back to MAC for a trade in. Ditto the Spice lip pencil. Those shades are too warm or dark and look muddy on me.
I really appreciate your thoughts on the shades and the different products from MAC. It’s so helpful especially when people like me don’t have a Mac counter to go try stuff out.
I have dry skin so may not even try their foundations. I'm better off with a mix of foundation BB Cream. I love Mac lipsticks though!!! Thanks for sharing your holy grails with us!!!
Face & Body is probably the best foundation for dry skin tbh. A total staple for me & a million other makeup artists. If you want light, buildable coverage that's super long wearing & invisible on the skin I would give it a try.

Mac 24 hour eye primer is my holy grail. My shadows last all day. Love the paint pot in quite natural. And Mac Red is my fav lipstick. Raizin is my go to blush.

I can’t live without fix plus. I have a bunch of singles. A couple lip glasses but no lipsticks. They aren’t my favorite formula. I also have a new mineralized blush and I had to put it away because I was only using it. Such a pretty finish.

Loved this video idea, I'm so happy to see MAC being discussed again, I've never stopped loving it and always seem to go back to it after I've tried other brands that are just not so reliable. My fave eyeshadows are Satin Taupe and Omega. I love Mineralize Skin Finish Natural, it's light on the skin but has such great coverage and I will never ever give up my 217 😃. I have to use a primer before putting paint pots on too otherwise they crease on me !
Great idea for a video! My favorites are: Face&Body foundation, Hush cream colour base (only highlighter that I’ve ever hit pan on), Woodwinked and Mulch eyeshadows, Teddy eyeliner, Warm Soul blush, Stripped down , Brick and Cherry lip pencils.

Estée Lauder does sell a pump for their double wear/double wear nude. You just reuse it when you purchase a new bottle. It actually cuts down on waste by Judy buying one pump and reusing it.
I think the only blush I completely used up was Mac Melba. I loved it so much.
My favorites are Brule and Concrete when I want to go neutral. I find they last all day with no problems, unlike some newer eyeshadows I have tried. I wish they would come out with some good formulas for colorful shadows. I also loved Paintpot, but my eyelids get very uncomfortable with dryness after a few hours. Sigh.

Hi Risa, Love MAC, though my collection of products is probably modest compared to other folks. I have several eyeshadow pans in the most popular shades but Naked Lunch, Satin Taupe, All That Glitters, and Soft Brown are favorites. Melba is my favorite blush and Studio Fix is a great powder for me. Haven't had good luck with the foundations or concealers but the lipsticks are awesome. I have several and there are several more on my wish list. Have a great weekend!

Studio fix fluid looks beautiful after applying, but oil control can’t come near double wear. Also I found studio fix fluid transfer, which shocked me. I don’t use anything on top of any of two foundations

Thanks Risa for this video! My favourite from Mac is face and body foundation , soft ochre paint pot, Mac lipsticks but I don’t like their highlighter in soft and gentle.. I know I think I’m the only one who doesn’t like it , it’s too pink for my skin. I have light but warm skin tone.

Painterly has been my eyeshadow base for many years - just love it.
I still love so many of their eyeshadows and adore the blush called Sunbasque.
I know I’m in the minority here, but I do not really like their lipsticks - the only ones I didn’t mind are their Patent Polish.

I will have to look at both more closely lately but I believe Melba is deeper and has a bit of pink in it where are Peaches is lighter and doesn’t really have any pink. If I am wrong I will come back and edit this.

Blushbaby! I would have said Cubic or Blush but apparently they are both discontinued! My favorite blushes for a red lip- not MAC- are Marc Jacobs Flesh and Fantasy used lightly or Tarte Risqué or Exposed.

I have such bad luck with my soft ochre. I feel that it was dry even when I had first opened it. I am 20 years old so don't have wrinkled skin just yet on my eyes but i find that it looks really bumpy and textured whenever i put on that paint pot. I have soft ochre. Any tips?

Honestly, I like them both equallyI get 40% off with my MAC pro card though so it makes sense for me to stick with that.
Risa.....have you tried estee lauder double wear camouflage (the blue tube) foundation. I know have broken capillaries and was thinking that might cover them up.
Risa I currently use mac studio fix powder foundation in C3 ive been color matched so many times and apparently this is my shade. It looks amazing for a few hr's but at the end of the day it looks candy and so yellow!! If I try the foundation, what shade do you recommend me??? Please reply back! Love ur videos lol😘😘😘😘😘😘
What other Mac shadows do you recommend that are matte? I have all the main brown shades and orangey ones but I love the formula so Id like to try some color 😊
My go-to lipliner is Half Red, my lips but better! I also like Soar.
