There is no more fun and excitement working on container ships. They are in port only a few hours. Minimum or no shore leave. In the 1950's to 1970's I served as a Ship's Electrician for 7 years. Best times of my life. Almost 50 Officers and men on board. Today there are approx. 20 men and officers. My best wishes to the Capt., Chief Engineer and all men on board. God Bless and keep you safe.
Richard Boudville really? Which type of ships get more n longer shore leaves and are safe to work? Please reply. I thought container ships are best for work.
Ak TV ok let me fix this. What he is saying is ships only get a few hours at port, that is absolutely incorrect ships the size of Edith mearsk take almost 9-10 hours for cargo operations during which the crew can rest or go ashore.

I realize the work most likely isn't well paying for men starting out and it's not easy to get this job either and there is a lot of training and things to know. I watch a lot of Discovery Channel.
