- The Qiantang River is affected by a large tidal bore, developing from the Hangzhou Bay and propagating upstream for more than 100 km. Downstream of and before Xinvang, the Qiantang River bore divides into the southern bore and eastern bore. At Xincang, the southern bore impacts the old seawall and is reflected.
On 23 October 2024, the tidal bore was observed at Xincang. The arrival of the bore occurred in very shallow waters and the bore reflections caused some massive sediment uplift and mixing.
