I don't consider NF a sad rapper, he just raps about his own mental health a lot which some people don't like but those of us that have mental health issues it gives us a voice and makes us feel not so alone. He talks about OCD, ADHD, depression, post traumatic stress, anxiety.... Not all of that is about sadness.... Just stuff that can get in the way of life sometimes and things that seem to have a stigma surrounding them still.
All of his songs are parts of his life story if you pay enough attention

I started listening to NF back in 2014 or 2015 when he popped up as a new artist on my Pandora. Unheard of at the time. I instantly loved him. His albums Mansion and then Therapy Session are so good. Im so happy he's getting the recognition he deserves.

He also hides eggs in his videos which he co-directs and co-produces.
For example in his “When I Grow Up” song there were four hidden eggs in that song: 1. A black balloon by the trash cans (black balloon represents his burdens per search single) 2 In the burger joint he grabbed at receipt that had the date and time of when his song time was being released. 3. He had outcast written on his name tag in the janitor scene which references his Outcast song. 4. He had his moments album CD in car scene
Another example is in the search song he had cage in background he rapped in from his outcast song. Search single also connects to Hope. In Hope he has the “map to hope”.
The black smile you will see painted on his mouth is explained in his therapy session song.

NF has stated several times how much of an influence Em was, and in one interview, he said for about 4 years straight, Eminem was all he listened to. Plus, they are also from the same area of the country, so they have the same accent.
His really old stuff before his record deal really reminds me more of Em than his new stuff.

Nathan John Feuerstein. His last name is German and means, Fire Stone. Feuer Steine. It means "seller of flint". Because flint was use to start fires. I love it because NF is selling fire in the form of Real Music.

The only reason people hate it is because like Eminem himself says he hates when people are a carbon copy, and aren't trying to do their own thing.
This is an "Intro" to the Clouds album. Every NF album has an Intro although he quit calling them Intros when he dropped the Search. All Intros have the 5 same qualities: No chorus, hard beat drops, fast rapping, haunting choirs, and classical orchestra instrumentals. But, you DO NOT want to listen to each Intro one after another. Why? Because the Intros are a very important part of the NF Journey story the is embedded in his music and that would include spoilers and things you won't be able to connect unless you know the backstory .That is why there is a thing called the NF Journey which is an unfolding story. It is about 60 songs and takes a minute, but worth it. You are doing great but if you ever want to start the unofficial NF Journey it starts with Into1, Mansion, All I Have, Wake Up, Notepad, and Paralyzed for the first album. Sorry for spamming your content. I have one more drop.

Here is the big drop: Here is my take on this video: I think each scene represents how the mainstream and hip hop community respond to NF. At first nobodies around. He's dreaming of this. Humble beginnings.
Then he pops on the scene but the little girl won't give him a high5, so he hi-5's himself. Everybody is like who is this guy. Then he breaks onto the scene and the critics crush him. But he says he is far from brittle, he is unbreakable which is a reference to the movie where Bruce Willis is Unbreakable and he battles Brittle.
But NF does the impossible, he succeeds! Then they become incredulous, like the food scene. The rap scene becomes petrified and threatens him with a butter knife (that is because their threats are meaningless to NF. He doesn't give a shit about them and of course Hollywood).
He crashes the scene and takes what he wants, does what he wants and it burns down the house.
Then he shows he is above them, and he is not going to change. No Hollywood. Finally he is in his own lane, going against the flow, and the other rappers are crashing all around him.
This whole video is "tongue-in-cheek" and goes along with the visuals and the lyrics. He leaves a wreck behind him. He is a disruptive force. He says his ideas are astronomical, but he really doesn't take himself that seriously. Although he takes his work very seriously. And I definitely see a reference to Intro 1". He is doing the impossible. Actually I think this bars "No weight to his name" and "one-trick-pony" are a reference to the quote from the Rolling Stone article that dissed The Search album.
This whole song is summed up in the last verse and then everything makes sense.
He is explaining that he is different, he is moving up, he will not change, he drives in his own lane, he goes against the flow, you better get out of his way.
Interesting, I think a lot of this song ties into Intro.

Eminem did acknowledge NF in the song "The Rinnger". He acknowledged that NF is inspired by Eminem from back in the day. And Eminem clearly sounds perfectly fine with it. Honestly from the way he said it, it kinda sounds like Eminem absolutely respects NF and even seams to be impressed and enjoy what NF is doing. And he can't diss NF. Nobody can. He hasn't got any dirt at all.

I don't like Eminem at all. So I'll never understand the comparison. To me. All Em knows how to do is diss people. I can't stand bullies and NF has never actually dissed anyone like that. Only talks the real stuff.
The comparison doesn't lie in the character of em, just the rapping style, flows/cadences, enunciations and inflections. Has nothing to do with anything Em wrote about or how he acted.

@@kenzieziegay8915 see you would have to actually listen to Eminem , he doesn’t just diss people , his music was an outlet just like nfs only his issues were different and his era of “grinding” was when a certain style was respected. Em has great music in all ways , and his discography tells a story through music , him and nf are more similar than just their sound

@@kenzieziegay8915 best way is to just start how you would nf , from the beginning and listen to the evolution of all the emotions in the music , there will be stuff you don’t like and there will be stuff that resonates with you. As for the dissing people , that’s always been apart of the culture in rap , money generating beefs were created all throughout just to encourage new listeners and retention of listeners, Justin briber disses people to as he dissed by other artists , it’s part of the “show” you come out with your teeth showing and you rip it up 🤘🏼listen to bully by Eminem. Being a bully and being labelled as a bully are 2 different things , nf is also labelled as a sad depressing rapper who bullies himself the most.
