- Here is my cover of "The Wonder of it All" by Theocracy, off of their new album "Ghost Ship." (Probably my favorite album of 2016. Seriously, if you're a fan of melodic metal it's a must-buy. Every song on it is incredible)
Theocracy has been one of my favorite bands ever since I discovered them about 4 years ago. I've been wanting to cover their songs for a while now but there were two things standing in my way:
1. Until recently, I was unable to record audio directly and therefore couldn't quite do their songs justice.
And 2. Their songs were just out of my skill range.
But I think I've finally reached the skill level required to not completely butcher their songs
I'm not too sure about the accuracy during the chorus and the riff at 4:38. Hopefully it's close enough :P

Not too shabby at all! Very close for the most part! Just be sure to listen to the triplets in the palm muting during the later sections (especially during the F sharp riff) also If you were going for perfection I would play with the chorus a couple more times and you got it!! Great job dude! :)

Yeah, the chorus is *definitely* the part I was most unsure about. I'll keep working on it!

I plan on covering a LOT more Theocracy in the future. They've been one of my favorite bands for a while now and I feel like I'm finally good enough to start covering their stuff.
Also, please check this band out if you haven't. They're extremely underrated, and their album "As the World Bleeds" is my favorite album of all time

I had a Yamaha 12 string acoustic at one time ..
Also a Yamaha classical ..
Had to sell them both ..
I was in Japan at the time ..
Couldn't bring them back with me to the states ..
Long story, that happened 30+ years ago ..
Later I would get an Ibanez RG570 (pearl green) ..
Still got it ..
'96 model (the one's that were still Made in Japan) ..
Q: Are you familiar with Deliverance?
Specifically, "As Above - So Below" (2007)
The song "Thistles." (an 11 minute instrumental epic)
At the top of my "bucket list" is to cover this song ..
All the parts; including drums (if I can procure the proper kit)
If anything, just the guitar parts to go show off in my nearest guitar shop ..
(BTW, Rusty Cooley lives within minutes of me; and I was informed recently by a college buddy/metal aficionado/guitar player that his sister-in-law is cousins with Jeff Loomis.)

They started out as a Metallica clone, down to the exact tone ..
But as they progressed, they became more and more progressive ..
By the time you get to "As Above -- So Below," they are heavily influenced by Symphony X ..
Which is a good thing ..
Deliverance is no clone whatsoever ..
They stand on their own quite well do date ..

btw, what tuning is this song in? I want to learn the rhythm tracks, but I wasn't sure. i assume it's either standard E or half-step (Eb).

After forgetting about it for awhile, I finally learned this song (partly by watching you and partly by watching/ listening to them). It's sloppy, but I can finally have fun and play along after two years of wanting. Thanks for your help, and your awesome vids! Can't wait to see what you got next, you rock! :D

I wasn't thinking anything in particular but Bethlehem could work well, or maybe more Ghost Ship stuff - though I've not been playing guitar much since the release of the album so I've not learnt any of that yet.

+MiskonceptioN I could do Bethlehem, but only the electric parts as I have no way of recording acoustic directly.
As far as some my favorites go, I really like Martyr and Hide in the Fairytale, both of which I planned on covering eventually anyway. Fairytale has a nice "guitar dual" style solo that would probably work well for a collab. Any of these three would work, I guess
I should also note that I don't have any decent editing software. I can't do anything like split screen, picture in picture, or anything else you typically see in collab videos. So I can send you my video and audio file, but you'd probably have to do all the editing by yourself, if that's ok?

Dude, that was super impressive. That's probably one of the best guitar tracks I have heard in a very long time and being a guitarist myself, I know the difficulty of this song is... well I could never play it, but hats off bro, nice job!
