Hello Ross! Firstly, wishing you A Happy New 2025 Year! Best of luck with all your work there. Secondly, I cannot thank you enough for all your teaching. Now I have started my third year with the figs and most of what I know is from your "lessons", the remaining is from my mistakes. I still do them, like removing the newly rooted cuttings a bit too early. They have surely died, but I didn't remove them from the small pots I have transferred, maybe I/they have a chance of revival (rooted in small sanded zip-bags). I live in southern Romania (Bucharest) and my parents have a garden 18 miles south of the city. There is my "playground" and I have already fig trees in the soil and in pots (those started 3 years ago). Hopefully, this year I'll have some crops from them. Thank you again!
Reminded me of my newly rooted celeste, calderona, and smith figs in my "winter grow room". They've been setting figs on shoots that are only a few inches long. Crazy how they want to produce. I removed them so energy can go into the shoots.
Yes i have brought a couple potted trees with fairly mature but still unripe figs indoors next to sunny window once outside temps were too cold. The figs did ripen and were good. Afterwards i moved into unheated garage so tree would go to sleep for winter. Zone 6b.
Is the characteristic of fig tree generally can be decided by the fruit color?? Because the only fig tree which are not growing fruit in my area(hot tropical high humidity all year) are the yellow one

I would take them off if there is no chance of ripening. It's lost energy, attracts pests or starts to rot.
Agreed.
