Thank you for posting I have a 76 L48 C3 and I've always loved the original lt1 350 cars so impressive. And I saw that ZR1 and awesome it has the m22 Muncie Rock crusher 4-speed unit the best manual ever
Awesome cars! My dream corvette has always been a 70-72 LT-1 4 speed coupe in Ontario orange with saddle interior, but somehow I've ended up with a 69 L68 4 speed convertible N14 project car, I'm still dreaming of a LT-1 4 speed someday though! Thanks for sharing!👍
Thanx for another excellent and educational video, 76vette. I love the C3 Corvettes, especially the 'bumper' cars. I noticed on the blue '71 LT1 that someone glassed over the factory alarm keyhole in the back instead of just restoring it. That happened a lot in those older C3s. I'd rather it be restored since glassing it over does devalue the car.
Back in the day, a lot (most?!?!) of these cars were modified in one way or another. And they were driven like they were supposed to. Then put away wet or recycled. Ahh, the good ol’ days. Lol 😆 Thank you for watching! 😊👍🏻
Back in the day my parents borrowed my 72 Coupe to go get groceries as my Dad's new Pontiac was in for it's first oil change and checkup at the dealership. My parents had 5 bags of groceries. They thought that key switch in the back was a trunk lock. Surprise!! They had a heck of a time packing themselves and 5 bags of groceries in that car.
Thanks for the great video. Really appreciated. A little longer screen time for the window decal info would be helpful in future for me. Just a suggestion. Cheers.
I appreciate the suggestion, and I’ll try to do just that or read as much of the info as possible as it is important information for the viewer. I’m always trying to get better at this and it helps when viewers share their opinions. Thank you for watching! 😊👍🏻
I’m so glad I’ve kept mine for over 40 years, it’s a 1972 model with the deluxe leather interior, PS, PB, PW, A.I.R., AM/FM stereo, tilt-telescopic, M21 w/ 3.70 gear ratio. These prices give me a ballpark figure for what mine could be worth. I really like your video and have been a subscriber for many years, keep up the good work. My car is almost an exact duplicate of the second to last car in your video, however, mine doesn’t have the luggage rack . Regards
A.I.R. was standard equipment on all LT-1 cars all years and the ratio was 3.70, which was 10 teeth on the pinion and 37 teeth on the ring gear. Ther 3.73 was a 10 or 12-bolt ratio of 11 teeth pinion and a 41 tooth ring gear and was never used on Corvette.
Steel cities gray convert knew a guy in fla that owned one back in seventies also that Elkhart green car had a chance to buy one like that one in 77 for 4500 good presentation
I try to include a view of the engine bay when possible, and it’s hard to miss the compressor. The same applies to the interior of the car where you can see whether it has a/c vents or not. Having said that, I will try to include more details in the future. 😊👍🏻
Back in the late 80s early 90s a good friend's mom's boyfriend had an LT-1 with under 20,000 miles. I believe it was a 71 if memory serves correct. I do know for sure it was an LT-1 convertible and sub 20k. Not sure if he still has it or not. Thanks for showing us this video. Interesting that almost all of them fell short of the estimated prices.
Cool. I think LT-1 Corvette convertibles are rare. At least from the ones I spot at events like Mecum where they all tend to be coupes. I also made a video a couple of years ago about a barn-find 1972 LT-1 convertible with air conditioning. Also very rare. ruclips.net/video/vIcDPr3xncA/видео.html BTW. Does anyone know for sure if Chevy built LT-1s with auto transmissions for the ‘72 model year? I heard a long time ago that several rolled off the assembly line with auto trans. Is that fact or fiction? 🤷🏻♂️
@@76vette I don’t believe any Covette LT-1’s left the assembly line with automatic transmissions, but you might have been able to get one in a Camaro. I know in 1972, for the first time, you could get air conditioning in a LT-1 corvette. Regards
@@76vette I remember him saying some very small number of them were produced but I don't recall the exact number. My father still owns his 69 L-71 hardtop he bought new and I remember the guy's LT-1 having a much lower total production number. I can't help you with the auto trans part. Hopefully someone can.
Beautiful cars, had a 72 LT-1 , was 25, single, and active duty military, so insurance killed me, like everyone who's owned one, wish I still had it, cringed each time he slammed the doors😂
I had a new 1970 LT-1 convertible with 4:11 gears. It was an awesome car, the 4:11 coupled with a close ratio 4 speed was a beast.. It would do 20mph for every 1000 rpm. It would accellerate to 130 mph at 6500rpm with ease in 4th and was ready for another gear change. I think the 370 HP was very conservative for this car. It was definitely faster than the 454/390 hp. I sold mine in 1973 after getting married and starting a new life phase. I would love to have it today.
@@imapisces5156 My father still owns his L-71 435HP Corvette he ordered new back in 68. When I was a teenager my friend's mom's boyfriend had an LT-1 convertible. (I think 71 but that part may be wrong) My father asked him on a couple different occasions to line them up but it never happened. The LT-1 was bone stock but dad's car has a cam and headers so I guess it wouldn't have been a fair match.
@@TheInsaneShecklador I've seen some good running 427/435's. They came stock with all the goodies, tri-power, high lift solid lifter cam, add some headers and gears, they were pretty bad and in a class of their own.
@@imapisces5156 Dad had headers and mags on the car within the first week. Cam came a bit later. I've never driven, or even rode in it bone stock so I don't really know how much they help. He ordered the car with the M21 4spd and 4:11 gears.
Yes! Mecum Kissimmee is scheduled for January 7 through Jan 19. So far, over 100 C3 Corvettes will go on the block. And Friday, January 10 is Corvette Day at Mecum. A reminder will be posted to the 76vette Community section in a few days along with a coupon discount. ruclips.net/user/postUgkxpdm1Vh_Cba4rTywlW6buv5hFChUUxH5C?si=20af0rmPpTtWB4zr
You’re probably right on that one. But to this day HP numbers are used mostly for marketing purposes. After all, who really cares about an engine’s horse power when it’s being tested on a stand under “ideal” conditions? Wheel HP gives you more accurate numbers, at least IMO. 🤷🏻♂️
Nice blue and blue like my dream car 72 stingray

You are correct on the color, steel city grey, 71 and 72 only.
Great video, thanks for posting. I have a 70 350/300, but I would love to have an LT-1. Keep the videos coming!
this was awesome thank you very much! I love my 69 L36 Cortez, silver. But wouldn’t mind having a LT-1 in the stable tho. Great Vid!

I recently bought bought low mile 76 4 speed. The chrome bumper ones are out of my price range. Maybe one day.

Got to drive my buddy's 70 Z28 Camaro brand new in Fort Lauderdale. I assume its the same as an LT-1 Corvette
I couldn't read the windshield papers because you zoomed in and away too fast so it was all blurry. I was trying to see if any of these had A/C.

Horsepower didn’t not “drop” from ‘71 to ‘72, GM changed the rating from gross HP to net HP - otherwise they are essentially the same engines.
