      Hi Gabriel can you do a video where you talk about how to move during sparring with regards to the pendulum step, bouncing, or just standing when entering please

    Contracting the lat and not just the abs, that's genius. I never, in a million years, would've thought of doing that.

    3 humor tips:
    Tip 1: Annoy your wife to get a daily beating-> Body conditioning.
    Tip 2: Pokerface helps, just keep smiling even when it hurts. ( I does work a little)
    Tip 3: Use your biggest muscle on the body, turn and absorb the strike with your butt.

      Word of advice if your coach/coaches tell you something and at the end of the session you still don’t know what it means… LOOK IT UP! You clearly have access to the internet! You learn much faster when you’re doing your own research at home!

    When attacking your opponent's body, don't just "punch or kick somewhere". Aim for vital targets. Here are the vital points that will give you a "body blow knockout" in a prize fight. Don't hit these too hard in sparring session, it takes 2 weeks for the internal bruises to heal up.
    Targets:
    Solar Plexus
    Liver
    Kidneys
    Opponent's Left Armpit (Lung/Heart shot)
    Try to get at least 2 inches penetration on your strike to these targets in a full contact fight or prize fight or self defense situation.

    I was taught to catch kicks with my lat/side chest area if kick is thrown that high, and moving with the momentum of the kick. Not moving into it, but with it. It is painless almost, since adrenaline and all.

    Sanchin Kata breathing mechanics and muscle tension helps. Even if you hate Kata, you should learn and study at least one version of Sanchin, perhaps even Isshinryu or Uechiryu version of Sanchin, and do the breathing and body tension portion of the exercises. If you master Sanchin Kata, you can't be hurt very much from most body blows at least not from a similar weight class opponent. So master Sanchin and then just guard the solar plexus with one of the elbows of the Standing Guard, and you're pretty well impervious to body blows. Keep standing guard Chin high at all times so your face is protected.

    I feel like my main issue is my mouthguard. It doesnt stick to my upper teeth and I can't talk at all when having it in. Others can talk with theirs so that leads me to believe mine really isnt fitted well. Its one of those that you boil from opro. The mouthguard limits breathing a lot, which also limits my ability to take body shots.

    • @aerniax
      @aerniax 10 месяцев назад +1

      I most probably know what you mean. You either haven't shaped your mouthguard before first use or just bought bad one. Check the instructions on the package and perform the steps exactly as written. You can also remodel them several times (but try not too many) until it stays on your upper teeth. Having a mouthguard in your mouth is always a discomfort, but you'll get used to having it.

    I always thought “rolling with the punch” using the head makes it look like you got hit. A judge might award points to the other guy. Canelo does this a lot and imo it always looks like he gets hit. Sure, when they slow down the video he didn’t but in the moment this could make someone lose a decision

    I need this because my Style is to catch all catchable kicks and punish my opponent for it, but I need to condition my lats for that type of punishment. Thank you so much, I will drill that…

  • @wsxtgbujm581
    @wsxtgbujm581 9 месяцев назад +2

    Yeah I noticed this myself when I started sparring and in my fight too. I noticed it was really easy for my opponents and people to absorbs strikes, like extremely easy. Simply stepping backwards while being hit, be it a body hook or cross, really nullified my power shots to the point where it could count as an ineffective strike. But I also noticed as soon as I backed them into the corner and trapped them there i could rip in my shots as hard as possible and they couldn't take it.

      You need to aim 2 to 6 inches BEYOND the surface of the target so you can "follow through" yoru strikes and get penetration. Requires some practice depending on your body type, so you learn to punch and kick like that without "over-extending".
      One of the six purposes of Isshinryu Karate Kata is to teach "Internal damage to vital targets on the body." You can't do damage to an opponent unless you get PENETRATION, so remember that.
      Straight Punch both Jab and Cross with a vertical fist and lead with the knuckles of your index and Bird fingers. This is sometimes called the 'China Punch" or the "Isshinryu Punch". When properly trained, this is a faster punch than the boxing punch and it actually hits harder and faster. Fold the thumb over so it doesn't get jammed. If you master a vertical fist punch, you don't need to tap or wrap your wrist to avoid sprains or breaks, becasue a vertical fist actually has superior bone alignment. The Boxing Hook and Boxing Uppercut are still done as they've always been done. This might upset your Boxing/Kickboxing coach, but the China/Isshinryu punch is being adopted by more and more people in both points competition karate and full contact karate, because we're pretty sure we can prove it is almost always better than the boxing twist punch. Some people can train to Isshinryu punch up to 50 percent faster than a boxing punch.
      If you get 2 inches of penetration in a good body shot, your opponent is going to feel it. If you get 2 inches of penetration in the solar plexus or under the left armpit, or on the right in the liver, then you probably just won a prize fight with a "body blow knockout".
      So remember, aim 2 to 6 inches beyond the surface of the target, that way even if they step back or evade, your "follow throw" gets at least an inch or two or penetration.

    • @WadeSmith-oe5xd
      @WadeSmith-oe5xd 8 месяцев назад

      They need to evade in 2 dimensions, i.e. diagonally or circularly. Evading by just back pedaling will get a person cornered. Evading by just side-stepping will get punished by a good roundhouse or hook punch must of the time.
