Thanks for the all the effort you put into the Beano album lessons. It’s a great album to attempt to learn.
Mike, your bending and tone are off the scale mate, never mind the note perfect transcription. Epic lesson.
Everytime I relearn this song I get a little closer to the gold!
Me too!
@@mikebrookfield it’s funny Mike after I learned this, hideaway, little girl and rambling on my mind I came across your channel. The beano album is like going to blues school. You did a great job on all this stuff and made it really accessible to your audience. Thank you. Stepping out is one of those songs I use to warm up. I always want to keep it close to the surface, and prevent it from getting lost in the shuffle - because it was a major accomplishment to learn. I saw Joe Perry about 6 months ago and he told the audience that he had to play it for his guilty little pleasure. All the greats always reference claptons version of stepping out. I remember hearing it for the first time when I was a kid thinking how ferocious his playing was on this track. This and hideaway are where it’s at!
Also I had a teacher who is expert in Clapton and especially cream. When I was learning the cuts off this album he was as excited as I was. He wanted to do every track on the album - I came close, lol. I did learn another great cut from around that time as well. The one that him and Jimmy page recorded called West cost idea.
That weird timing thing he does in the raking part is pure Clapton.
Mike I always thought that It Hurts To Be In Love from the Primal Solos album is one of the best, most pure solos ever. Perfection with that syncopation thing he does. Used to do. Make a great lesson. Jay
I have been wating for this one, and it was worth it 👌.
Great work Mike!! 👏
Great work Mike love your channel theory and appreciate your hard work w Beano album! Can’t wait to dig in!
Good Christ! - This level is simply beyond me... Very, very nicely done. Eric Clapton at his absolute peak IMO. Clapton is an absolute perfectionist. His playing is flawless. I've seen him dozens of times live and never once heard a technical mistake I recognized. He sold more Les Paul guitars than Gibson. Hendrix was amazing in the studio. Live? Firstly, tune the instrument. Next, get reliable equipment. Flash is great, but we're talking mastery here and that includes both studio and live.
Thanks for these high quality Clapton lessons Mike!
Hi Mike
With these Beano album lesson, Mike is God. All your vid are in my computer.
Hi Mike, greetings from Australia! can’t emphasise how much these Clapton videos have helped me along. Love how you break it down and the format of all the videos, definitely going to check all your other work out. Cheers
Claptons my favorite, I’m 70 now self taught, from here in Ga. Love these lessons, great playing. Subscribed.
Great series! Thank you for breaking those songs down!
One of the most challenging tracks on the album and you absolutely nailed it, thanks for everything you do Mike ! Beautiful Les Paul by the way, i myself have a 97’ les paul standard. Keep doing what you do because it’s all aboslutely fantastic !! 👍🎸
You nailed it Mike, Awesome
Great stuff, Mike! I remember your Steppin' Out and Hideaway videos from way back with the metronome :) Brilliant to get an update on this one. I really liked the tip about going through the cycle of fiths to nail tricky licks. Looking forward to the next series!
by far the best cover of a Clapton solo on RUclips we'll done mate
Best teacher on RUclips hands down 💯
Gorgeous LP!
Agreed!
One hell of a player
Mike; I'll leave all the comments about how great this series is (that I fully agree with) to everyone else, I'm jazzed about your short clips in and around Howth. One of my favourite places in the world! I have family in Raheny so I've spent lots of time in the neighbourhood including Bull Island and Howth.
thats great... i often think is it worth doing that bit ... but i like how people like yourself recognize or identify... thanks for commenting
Great job Mike. You really put together a great series and Steppin Out is definitely the big one. It's interesting how on the Live Cream album Clapton changed that main riff just a tad to make it really rock. Live Cream was an album I wore out and the reason was Steppin Out.
Yeah.. its a great album just to jam along with... just love it when clapton solos unaccompanied on Steppin out.. i do that alot on gigs because of that...
Excellent series of videos Mike. Fair play to you for the hard work and time that you put into these. This particular track is one of my favorites. I have plucked up the courage a few times over the years to play my best attempt of this one during some small pub gigs and it always goes down reasonably well. However, my version had a lot more “basic pentatonic improvising” because I just couldn’t pick out those really fast Clapton licks. So I’m gonna study this video in great detail and upgrade my version of this tune big time! Thanks mate!
You have great tone! And you definitely dive into the finer points of the solo.
Thanks for this, I was playing along with it, copying it in my own short cut way, then realised I was blagging the second solo part!
Darn this is awesome thanks Mike I was trying to sus the bit around 15/16mins out thats a big help thanks for sharing these.
Good lessons 👌, early Peter Green and Paul Kossoff would be a great addition Cheers
Just found your channel , wow !!!! Perfect for someone who loves , Greeny , Bloomfield , Koss type tones 👍
great lesson Mike! I would try my best to get it all down!
fantastic lessons very well explained. I love Clapton in the Bluesbreakers period, one thing I would like to know. If possible, what are the settings of the amplifier and those of the guitar? Thank you
John McVie's bass line is crazy difficult!
Love these, Mike!! Am so thankful for your epic Clapton guidance and teaching!!! Maybe you should tackle the Rainbow Concert 🌈 someday. I always thought Clapton was in The Zone on that one. Anyway just wanted to say what a great job and especially THANKS!!!
Mike what about sticky fingers the full album
Here we go!!!
Fantastic. For real!
Great Lesson :)
We love the tangents.
Master piece
Great job! Curious as to the Les Paul model and pickups? You just absolutely nail that classic tone.
Love your lessons! could you maybe do Sweet Wine or Sleepy Time Time by Cream?
Really deep sound on that bridge pickup. Sounds like Eric"s.
Been on it for 4 hours now and still don't get it. I tought it would be 1 day work but this is so difficult and my fourth finger is dying! !
Thanks a lot for your help! The original's recording is not so clean and yours is great and it helps a lot.
2 questions: do you think i can play D and F on B string in stand of G and B strings at 15:07
What blues song would you recommand after this one?
where was this lesson, when i was still 21
How long did it take you to learn that fri start to finish bro ?
please do hard road album next
Great playing. Just curious, do you top wrap your Les Paul. If so what are the advantages?
My LP came string up like that so yes I do the wrap around thing... feels & sounds good so I stick with it..
Hi Mike is that LP with stock pickups??
Yes stock pickups..
Great! LP model..?!?
2016 R8
Transcription, someone mentions? I can't find it.
Michael Read you can download the TAB from sheet music direct for less than $5... I strongly recommend getting into the habit of either working off these videos by ear or buying a published transcription.. the complete book of transcriptions is $20 which I recommend to my students that are interested in this style...
@@mikebrookfield Many thanks for that. You've no idea how difficult I've made it for myself being dazzled by your fingers, slowing down the refresh rate to 0.5% and still being dazzled by your fingers. Ears? I don't necessarily trust them all the time. Many thanks again.
It all adds up.. I have transcribed things wrong in the past from records but the process still improved my ear and the imperfect licks still brought my playing forward.. its all good... keep on it & as Brian Eno says 'trust in the artist you are now'... KiB 🔥
Have you ever ripped a solo when you have been tripping balls on mushrooms and lost yourself in the music you’re playing while looking at your fingers thinking that the shape of them are constantly shifting
What's your amp that you're using?
At home & on these vids I use a 5w Peavey mini collosal.. I use the Marshall and fenders on gigs..
