I have been trying to journal more often to process my emotions better with a benefit that I'd have to something to look back to in the future. But I haven't been very consistent with it. I have severe social anxiety and I often stutter when I am presenting something in the class or in a meeting or speaking in front of group or a crowd or even when i'm on camera. And the thought of recording myself as primary way of journaling is terrifying to me. But it does sound like something which may help me overcome this anxiety. Sort of like exposure therapy.
I wish you the best of luck! I think writing is still very effective if you don't feel ready for audio. I'm a big believer in exposure therapy or the idea of doing something enough times that you get used to it. I found listening to my own voice hard at first way back when I started RUclips but now I don't even really think about it.
