I recently added up how much money I’ve spent on luxe items… I felt physically sick. I didn’t realise it added up that fast. It’s made me realise I need to be very happy with what’s in my cupboard. And not continuously “need” something new

I think it’s worth sometimes ‘shopping from your wardrobe’ finding something you’ve never or barely used and enjoying it as if it’s new. If you have a lot of stuff it makes sense that a lot of it sits unused 80% of the time ( we all apparently use 20% of our things 80% of the time). It can feel good to use something that feels new without spending another penny .

Yes I can relate. I am 73 years young and my daughter looked at all my bags and said "Where are you going to wear these bags? Your future fabulous life?" It did make me think. I should have said "No they are for my present fantasy life." LOL

I am in my 50's and was redoing my closet. I realized if I died my DD24 would have to get rid of so much crap that she would not even want. She doesn't care about designer stuff and it would be so much time and effort to get rid of stuff. I invited my nieces on both my side and hubby's and let them take what they wanted. I sent clothes to charity and even put stuff on the street outsife my house and got rid of so much stuff. I no longer go out since, I don't work anymore and when we go out I use the same purse. It was like a weight lifting off my chest. I felt free afterwards.

Wow Valerie Lawson the collection that you had you could’ve also had sold them to make a profit to give to charity to help other young women ‘s for their education because the luxury designer bags and other luxury items that you had are now item that are in demand can be placed on different sights and even EBay that you could have done or asked Louis Vuitton do they have a collectible for those who are looking for classical designs and seller that are looking for classical pieces to purchases. You could’ve made made money off theses expenses bags I don’t have any luxury bags but I, definitely want some luxury bags and I, definitely will appreciate it and will use it.

Every time I see the multi pochette, it just makes me want it more. I think the MP can be a formal bag if carried with just the chain. I think it is very versatile. The PSM backpack has been on my wishlist for years. I love casual bags but you are right, once one has a few, no need for more. Thanks for sharing! You look beautiful today 💕

You are so right, buy what you actually suit/wanted. I recently picked up the small Loewe basket bag. I have plenty of totes and large bags, but I’m only 5’3 and needed a smaller summer option. Anyway, I didn’t Listen to the ‘ah but for 25 quid more you can get the medium’ line. And delighted I went small. It was exactly what I needed.

You are so correct. No more luxury handbags for me, beautiful but wasteful. As a matter of fact, no more instead of bags like Coach, MK or RLL for me neither. Most Coach leather is beautiful, but TOO heavy for me. I am so with you when you say "My real life is not matching with my fantasy life". Not even going into the office still. I can totally relate shoes. I stop to buy the designer shoes too, especially those high heels. I also stop buying SLG , recently I just sold my Toiletry pouch 26 in mono and only leave one in my collection. I also sold all mini pochette with prints, only keep the regular one. I have multiple long shelves full of UGGs and at least a dozen Patricia Nash bags. I used to just buy one purse and carry it til it was trashed, then get a new one. I’m about ready to tell myself I can’t get another bag until I use up the ones I have, if I live that long!

Yeah I went through the same phase for years, it was in part a reaction to a very plain, unmaterialistic younger life, I became more hedonistic as I grew older. Now everything is immediate use or it goes. For face creams I had so many bad reactions to the expensive stuff that I only use aloe Vera gel occasionally now.
My skin reacts badly as well, I need to stick to what works. Mine is probably also part of having more disposable income than I did when I was younger 💕

It’s quite fine....love the teal boots and they brought you joy! Everything you show is always wonderful and at the time of purchase obviously made you happy! We live and learn and most of us who love luxury have been known to have a “what was I thinking moment”. At the same time I tell myself I’m certain its cheaper than therapy!!!!

Very entertaining video my dear! I agree with several things you mentioned. My own list is:
-Items for my fantasy life: I used to buy beautiful pieces of clothings that don’t fit me in hopes of losing some weight. Now I only buy what fits and suits my lifestyle
-Very high heels: not only they are not comfortable, you don’t get a lot of wear out of them, especially at luxury prices. Now my heels are 8.5 cm max. I find it a good length that is comfortable and looks nice and can be worn for so many occasions.
-Cheaper (and unbranded) items like jewelry, shoes or clothes from online places like eBay and so on. I bought a few in the past only to realize they are the fake version of a more pricey item. They look great on the website, but when you get them they are sooooooo cheap looking. If I can find (and afford) the original designer great. If not, I’ll pass.
-Instead of: i love the look of the Kelly from Hermès. Tried to look for bags that have a similar shape, but deep down I’ll still want the Kelly. So I’m not buying any “instead of” until the time is right to buy the bag I actually want.
-Perfumes and creams: I’m obsessed with perfumes and skincare stuff. I used a fraction of what I bought. Now I stick to my tired and true brands, and would only buy new creams or perfumes if my “unused” collection gets much smaller.
These are fabulous examples! I am so guilty of buying clothes that I 'will' fit into it! I do this toooo often! Also buying cheap clothes that look/feel awful. So many lessons to learn! 💕🙈💕
and SNAP with the Blackberry and Bay hand wash!!! As far as I'm concerned it's as essential as bread and milk!

I am a reformed 'fantasy life' buyer...I had a wardrobe full of stuff bought for hypothetical weddings/holidays/occasions but I could barely pull together an outfit that matched on a daily basis 😂

Great video and eye-opening! I realized that I was spending my children's future and needed to stop. They are the most important thing to me and I needed to realized I would be better served saving my money for my future and my children. Why make LV, Chanel and all the rest rich? I watched a youtuber who worked for LV and she said the workers would laugh at us behind our backs, of course, for spending so much on their canvas bags.
Thank you, it's so easy to get caught up and spend too much, don't get me wrong, I spend enough!! But my priorities are always straight and taken care of first. That's kind of why I started my finance channel, I got so many questions about budgeting for bags etc 💕
Ever thought of scoping petroleum jelly into your beautiful jars? I too am a sucker for beautiful packaging. I melt PJ and shea buter mix into pretty jars and heat up in the microwave.

I feel you with most of these!!! I go to the store and I just don’t get excited about LV monograms canvas anymore. Loubis heels also because my feet need to be retrained in wearing 100mm heels again and yes i was once a sucker for nice shoes but NOT in my size 🙈 The designer hand creams are good to buy once and to use for “what fits” videos. 😅😊

Agreed on all items. At some point it starts piling up like junk and I don’t like that. I want my pieces to be special and most of all used. I know I have too many bags, wallets, etc. and will be downsizing this summer. Also, I’m going to really focus on the style and feel that I like. For example, I have some flap bags and just realized last week that I don’t really like the flap 🤦♀️😭😂. I like open top bags like the Hermes Evelyn. So why do I have so many flap/twist lock bags🤦♀️. I’m doing the same thing with wallets. Why do I have some for the name and/or style because it’s popular but I hate the functionality? 🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️. So, good for you & thanks for making this video 💖

Great video! I'm just getting into luxury, and it's so hard for me to not buy all the pretty and cool things I see. My husband has to talk some sense into me every time I see something that I want. We both agree that my next purchase won't be until around September or October, but it's so hard when you see all these pretty things right in front of you. I also have to remind myself that I don't go to red carpet events every often. Or, you know, at all.
I totally understand about the shoes and skincare. I have flat feet, so comfort and support have always been an absolute must for me. I also have sensitive skin, so I've always had to be extra extra careful about what I wore (makeup, perfume, lotion, skincare, and even clothes).
It happens to us all, the pretty new collection glitters and it's so hard to resist!! If only money were no object!!

The point about the shoes hits home😄 Luckily, my feet are too big for most luxury shoe brands, so I can’t get tempted to spend luxury money on shoes, but still…I discovered a pair of high heel platform ankle boots in my closet today that would pass as the perfect shoe for the adult entertainment industry, plus I’d be around 1,9m tall when I wear them. No idea what I was thinking when I bought them😂

Definitely guilty of #1 - bought dresses for fantasy garden parties & brunches I don’t go to. Had to start being realistic about the life I do have and stop doing stuff like that.

I sold many of my slgs as well as bag charms. I also sold a lot of my LV bags. I now have 1 Chanel card flap as my wallet and don’t waste money on slgs, but they are so….. pretty.

A Kerryman here, so defo not at all practical purchase but I got a pair of suede Tod’s. Heard the quality can be iffy but they looked so nice. The dolce vita looks filled my head. I know I will probably keep them more for resort when we travel or at most if I went to somewhere in Cork / Kerry coast for lunch. Defo not practical but a pair of sunglasses, nice shirt and chinos and it’s notion city & I’m here for it ahha. Sometimes a little indulgence is good but I won’t crazy.

Absolutely love this and agree. I love bag charms too…what I’ve done is use my LV chain straps as belts (I have to put 2 of them together 🙈) and hang a bag charm at the (dangling) end. Super fun and playful with a pair of jeans or jean shorts 😄❤️

I fully relate to the “instead of bag”. Many of the bags on my wishlist are out of stock, and it’s tempting to buy something that is in stock, but I know it will not satisfy my wishlist bag.

I've been shopping luxury a lot less lately as I've had more important things to save for. However my luxury CANDLE collection has sky rocketed as you'll have seen from my insta! A ridiculous amount of luxury candles but I fell down the hole of "oh but it's only a £300 candle instead of a £2300 bag!

I need a Dublin trip soon so I can go to the White Company store they have. I nearly bought the Autumn candle last time I was down but didn't as it worked out marginally more expensive. Gutted as the very next day it was discontinued from the website!

I have a monogram 6 key holder, that I bought 30 years ago when I bought my Speedy 30 - both are still in good shape. That is the only SLG that I have. I plan to buy a wallet. Which wallet would you recommend and for a first SLG. I did see your Reto Versa wallet video - do informative, loved it. I just found you last night, but I have throughly enjoyed you. I subscribed. 😉

So funny when you pulled out those boots. I wanted the Tamara Mellon teal boots but held back because they were so expensive and I wasn’t sure I was going to wear them. I obsessed over them for months but I guess I’m glad I didn’t buy them.....I think???

So I am really thinking about the “instead of” category. I just got the Chanel 19 in the new light grey color. Omg is it a gorgeous color. Now I would prefer it in the smaller size as I am petite like you (5’2” and US size xs to small) but my boutique only got the large size which I preordered). I like the larger size hand carried or shoulder carried but I really love carrying bags crossbody lately. I can carry the large crossbody in length but it’s a bit big. But that colors, and it’s just not available in the smaller size. Oh what to do! I think I’ll keep it and get a darker color or black (my fav but I have too many black bags already) in the small. HELP ME!
I think so long as you use it, it's ok. You can always get a small in a different colour later. The problem with Chanel is trying to repeat the colour you loved, i would keep it so long as the size worked for me in a way that I would actually use it 💕

If you happen to find a color you live you have to just get it unless you want Tom pay thousands over retail which I’m not willing to do. I am planning to get a small black one anyway I think. I felt guilty getting it in black because I already have a reissue and a jumbo in black as well as other black bags. But it’s so pretty I won’t be able to resist!
