Nadine Koutcher’s courage to do this with virtually no vibrato is captivating - like a high wire artist with no net- as are the strings playing up at the fingerboards. The conductor obviously had a clear vision and it was so well worth being guided by it. This is such a rare and sublime treatment
Having stumbled across this as I switched on my radio I had to hunt down this recording to hear it again, and again. It literally stopped me in my tracks and spoke to my heart, even though I didn't understand all of the words. Truly entrancing!
I was familiar with the interpretation of Agnes Mellon and William Christie's Les Arts Florissants, considered a reference. However this super-slow tempo and Nadine Kourtcher's vibrant "fielato" have moved me much more.
I've never heard a version like this. Usually, the singer is aiming for a maximum theatrical effect. This takes the aria to an eerie, haunting space that seems to drain all emotion, and therefore heightens the music's intensity. Spellbinding.
Devastatingly beautiful... never heard it quite like this!!!! Love the tempo (slower than most) and the intimate approach of the singer... I'd say, the definitive version for me.
I cannot believe it is written before Mozart was born... Absolutely stunning music and marvellous performance. Thank you, Maestro, thank you, madamme Koutcher, for this revelation.

An amazing vocal interpretation and an unfussy musical accompaniment. ... Rameau..! Congratulations to Nadine Koutcher, Teodor Currentzis and MusicAeterna orchestra.
Sad preparations, pale torches Day more dreadful than darkness Gloomy stars of the tombs No, I will see nothing but your funeral light You, that see my broken heart; Father of day, Sun, oh my father! I don't want the gift that Castor has lost. I renounce your light
I like it better then Adagietto ( Mahler) or Adagio ( Barber).........I think nothing can be nicer than this music...... perfection ........the right, fantastic tempo...... .hungarian translation: Szomorú készülődés, halvány fáklyák, A nap borzalmasabb a sötétségnél, A sírok komor csillagai, A sírok komor csillagai, Nem, csak a temetési fényeidet fogom látni.

In fact she uses the slightest bit of vibrato here and there to great effect. High artistry
The combination of Rameau and Nadine Koutcher is spellbinding it pulls on my heart.
I have listened to this over and over again, totally spellbound.
Having stumbled across this as I switched on my radio I had to hunt down this recording to hear it again, and again. It literally stopped me in my tracks and spoke to my heart, even though I didn't understand all of the words. Truly entrancing!
Finally at the end of my endless torment I find peace and light with your music mease Rameau.
Sobre esta histórica e monumental gravação só me resta dizer: vale mais do que todo o ouro deste mundo.
Sublime

The risky slowness-is breathtaking, and whilst it divides opinion - results in an a fabulous intimacy.
This is a "voice piece", that is, with a high demand for "fielato", with an impossible prolongation of the expiration phase. And Koutcher is fabulous.
This music is incredibly modern and beautiful. I like very much the vocal interpretation. So ethereal!
Wow I think I just died and went to heaven amazing !!!
Superb! Both conductor and Koutcher reach the heart of Rameau's gorgeous music.
Sublime beyond words. And yet it needed to be said.
Stunningly beautiful...what incredible music and fantastic peformance !

What does Mozart have to do with it? There is much unsurpassed music before him.
Wunderschön. Linear geführte ganz ohne Opernvibrato. Brava !!
The notes she hits at 6:08 and 6:15 just rip into your soul. To paraphrase Roberta Flack, killing me softly with her song !
Utterly beautiful.
Mais comment ne pas être touché par autant de grâce ? MERCI

Gracias por completar el texto con la introducción: la hace todavía mejor.
Thanks 💝
I swear I thought it was an entirely different singer - a boy soprano. Another facet of Nadine, for sure.
mesmerizing !!

I want to die hearing this !
Bij zoveel schoonheid kan ik mijn tranen niet inhouden.
Исполнение называется - смерть мухам ))))
Far too slow sorry.
balls!
even better !
Non ...
voltaire 13 : this tempo serves a purpose. If you can’t FEEL it, there’s no reason to argue with you.
Rameau's tempo is Tres Lent?? Most people do it too quickly!
