the cello sounds like the wailing of an ancient whale who has been swimming since the beginning of time, looking for the mythical place where whales go to die. beautiful.
Even though Radiohead are one of the most critically acclaimed bands in history, this kind of performance makes you realize that they are actually extremely underrated.
They have music for literally everyone. Pop music in The Bends, excellent alt rock tunes in ok computer and in rainbows, experimental music in kid A and amnesiac, orchestral arrangements in a moon shaped pool.
The cello entrance sounded like an entire orchestra. The last time a sound stopped me in my tracks like that was Miles Davis on his Sketches of Spain album. My god.
@@keithmccartney1367 i mean you hear what you hear But i dont think they're anything alike Maybe they are in a same scale idk But other than that other measurements are completely different
It is unbelievable, glacial, austere and very haunting. Music from another dimension, almost too painful to listen to because of it's beauty. I had a friend download and burn a copy of the 800% version for me. Had to have it !
This song has not only contributed to my depression but has also allowed me to work through it. Something about playing it allows me to escape to another world. Cry pretty often when I’m singing and performing this alone. Unbelievably beautiful.
You can feel the Egyptian mythological influence more in this version that the original version, it’s absolutely Gorgeous. And the two instruments sharing the vocals as just incredible.
You guys can feel the piano rythm gets lost at some point, it´s like trying to connect with some part in your subconscius .... I don´t know, Amnesiac is just amazing i reckon, to feel that you forgot your past, your name, address, just waking up......knowing nothing.............just peace around.......I can feel amnesiac and forgot myself about my existence, reality, dreams, anything.
I was so incredibly not prepared for the absolutely mastery of nuance on these gentlemen's behalf. The original was nothing short of beautiful, this was...haunting.
Sweet Jesus how could anything be so perfect? After all these years I STILL refuse to believe only one piano and a single cello could produce such beautiful music@
I love O'Riley's Radiohead covers and just as I was listening to some good ol' Radiohead the idea popped into my head that maybe Chris covered this song. This is even more amazing than I thought it would be. And dammit I already thought it would be incredible. Mind blown, once again
This methological music reminds me, my friend has escaped 5 years before from this world, I have cried a.lot, this is a precious music, because it reminds me all my sad and feeling things. From Tamil Nadu Chennai triplicane
The Cello is incredible. I was going to say he makes it sing, but it's as if he isn't playing it. It's like the cello was the wind blowing throw the trees. It sounds so organic.
Christopher O'Riley tours fairly regularly. Sometimes it's a full-on Radiohead tribute performance. I highly recommend it, especially if you can see it in an acoustically sound environment. Absolutely beautiful.
there’s a reason composers love Radiohead
the cello sounds like the wailing of an ancient whale who has been swimming since the beginning of time, looking for the mythical place where whales go to die. beautiful.
That's surprisingly accurate. You should write poetry.
it's not a cello, it's a piano.
That was a good one
Whoa!

That cello is absolutely insane, it sounds like it came from a different planet.
It did! It swooped down in a country lane late at night as I was driving.
Descendant of Kraff Well played.
Truly.
Sounds like a whale and it is magnificent.
I'm not a cellist, but as a violinist I'd bet that some passages are incredibly hard to play
This is Pyramid Song if it was in A Moon Shaped Pool
Yep.
I want to go to there.
Exactly what i thought
That
A pyramid shaped pool.
"There was nothing to fear, nothing to doubt."
YES!!!
I want that this exactly version be played in my funeral
If they don't play it at mine I'm not going.

That slightly bittersweet moment when you find the music for your funeral...
The beginning of the cello playing reminded me of singing whales. This is superbly wonderful. I am gobsmacked.
***** I know and a I was utterly surprised as I thought this group to be rock and did not know that they were multifaceted musically.
Yes It's the first thing that came to mind. The song is a sort of submarine dream world. I have always loved it.
if you havent already go watch the 800% slower version

There are many, many brilliant contenders, but this is my favourite Radiohead track. This version brought me to tears - wonderful.

how the hell would you think you know what "mythological egypt" sounds like?

They performed beautifully! The way the cellist played shows how deeply he feels about this song.
This is simply beautiful. What an irregular yet pleasing combination, that chello SINGS!
I dont think I can put into words how brilliant this is, brought tears to my eyes.
Same.
I loved to play Pyramid Song on piano, until I saw this... Now I need a cello...
So,do you play the cello with feet,or the piano?
A gently swaying instrumental of sorrow
