I’m fm Historical Oyster Bay, NY, hometown of Pres Theodore Roosevelt. It’s 1 of NY GOLD COST towns… the nickname is due to the beautiful beaches! My NY family & many other Black families owned & lives all over the Gold Cost & South Shores of LI, NY which includes Glen Cove, Port Washington, Woodbury, Huntington, Cold Spring Harbor, Sag Harbor, Hamptons & Montauk Point, Lloyd Harbor, Ash Shogan, etc &. on the South Shore is the Hampton towns, Baldwin , Amityville, Long Beach, Roosevelt, The Rockaways to name a few beach towns where Black families & single ppl once settled after slavery if they weren’t natives like my moms gf & my dads gm family was!

They forgot the wonderful Carole King who was a great song-writer (Aretha's big hits svrl times) & her own huge hits, especially the Tapestry album. Her husband was a failing song-writer especially w/out Carole & would beat her like a dog too. IMO these abusive men were jealous of their partner's talent and worldwide appreciation and love for these female performers and had mental ticks to boot.

I'm not a Bethany fan however I was not offended by her comment about the Hamptons. I think she was saying that once ago the Hamptons was not welcoming to our kind compared to present time. That's what I got from her comment.
