    The ES in the USA comes with cruise control standard and Emergency Braking System. I actually got the ES but I knew it was going to be louder because of a lack of sound dampening materials, which is more than previous generations but less than ideal, so I installed my own in the floor and ceiling and it now is quiet and calls on the in car radio are good. Side note, the speakers are improved from previous to 2017 speakers, but they are still quiet and actually have small magnets attached, the improvement is mostly the speaker cone and flex materials. With the CVT, we averaged between 37 city and 45 highway and three kids fit comfortably in the back seat.

    I would much rather like to drive this little car than riding a snowmobile and no matter how much noise you ear from the snow tires or the wind, it will never beat what you experience from a motorcycle. After many years of riding both summer and winter recreational machines of open air freedom, I now can appreciate the confort of whatever car drive.

      Sounds ok but does not go very loud. I put a better pair pf speakers in mine & tapped in a small 4 channel amp. There is no aftermarket stereo kit that fits this so you have to be creative & use the factory one.

    You should have taken the higher spec Mirage. I have one. Better sound deadening, cruise control. Excellent automatic climate control, ideal for a road trip. The CVT also lowers the engine revs, less noise.

    • @drivingca

      Yeah but we really wanted the manual transmission and you can only get that on the ES trim

    • @marks6663
      @marks6663 Год назад +6

      yes, but by the time you load up on options, you could have bought a better car. This is why it never pays to load up on options on dirt cheap cars. You buy it only because it is dirt cheap. Once you start loading it up, you have defeated the only reason for buying it.

    Thank you for this review. I bought this car last year and its very reliable. I am hoping to drive it in Vancouver snow this year, I put on winter tyres but should I also put some weight in the back of the car to drive in snow?
    some people suggested me to put all season tyres in trunk if I am driving in snow?
    Could you share your experience?

    • @drivingca
      @drivingca  2 года назад +1

      Thanks for watching! The Mirage is very capable in the snow and because it is front-wheel-drive, weight in the back will hurt, not help performance. Just get a great set of winter tires and this little car will tackle a Canadian winter just fine.

    Considering the manual's fuel consumption was close to the rating, I think it's a better choice than the automatic. I roadtripped our 2014 automatic from MB to NL in the summer, and it used more fuel than this manual one (often around 7 L/100 km). The automatic is rated as more efficient than the manual, but I think is worse in practice.

      @@happyscrub, may I recommend the Prius? We got our Mirage used for a good price, but if you're thinking of paying extra for the less effiicent one, consider upgrading and getting a car with better resale value and a more reliable transmission. At least the manual Mirage is a great price and more fun.

    A good starter vehicle if you want to buy new for a low price. Compared to my first new car, a 1991 Ford Festiva, the Mirage is luxurious. My Festiva didn't even come with a radio although it came with 2 really crappy Ford speakers. Weird.
