Hey! Thank you for making all of your videos on the alesis nitro set. I watched almost all of those videos including the comparison video with the donner kit you got. I just bought my nitro kit three days ago and have fallen in love with it already. I plan on making a riser like yours since that kick is so loud! I'm also trying to grab myself the high hat set up you made in this video. It looks really fun to play compared to the standalone pedal that's shipped with it. Thanks again, my bandmates and I are gonna love having it around.

Any idea what the physical difference between the Roland and Alesis switches are?
I picked up the very similar hi hat controller from Lemon, and it is not registering correctly with my Nitro. It's similar in construction but with a roller-based switch. Curious if I can find some way to make it work.
I have the same problem with the millennium hi-hat controller that is has to be more open (than I am used with for an analog drumset) before it gives the "open" sound. Do you know any workaround, hack or replacement hi-hat controller that will work better with the MPS-850?

Since you're still using the nitro mesh module, could you make a video were you use drum splitters' cables to try and expand to more than just one extra tom and cymbal? Either way, great video!

Hi, I know this is an older video. But I just got the GoEdrum controller to use with my Roland CY12. The standard clutch doesn't fit through the hole, however. What clutch are you using? Or is the Millennium hihat pad bypassing this problem?
The CYs should fit on a clutch, you just have to kinda jam it through there. I've done it.
Hi justine. Have you had any problems with goedrum hi hat controller not fully opening? Im having that problem now. From time to time.
Make sure when you turn on your module, the hi hat is not depressed at all. This can cause weird calibration issues.
Since you mentioned your Roland module I wanted to ask you if you think I should invest in this v drum kit with a TD-10 module? BTW, thanks for mentioning being on Apple Music. I just downloaded all your albums. I’ll start listening when I get home.
oh thank you so much! Yeah, well if you can get a good deal, I'd go for it. The crazy thing is this TD-5 was made in 1994 and it kills the Nitro module in almost every way. Less cymbal choices, but overall it's really impressive for being 26 years old. I will be doing a video on it really soon. I made a few custom kits on it already and it really came to life.
Demonic Sweaters Man, thanks. I really don’t know shit about electronics other than to play them. I figure this has to be better than a nitro as far as what I wanted the Nitro for. I need bells and whistles. I’m old school. But I don’t have the money for space in Brooklynn much less money to buy modules that will give me something close to Grace Under Pressure. They masked The Professor’s voice over the Simmons kit for the album! Anyway, cowbells, glockenspiel, vibraslap, gong the size of lower Manhatan? I’m thinking this module has to give more than the nitro...?

@@michaelw.carter8729 without a doubt it'll be a higher quality module and everything I'm sure. Roland are basically the undisputed king of edrums. I will say the pads on the nitro do function very well though and it's very good overall for the price. You could also use EZ Drummer 2 or something with the nitro if you wanted.

they make one for the nitro specially, the 'AN' one. You won't see any improvement in hi hat expression though. That's just a weakness of the module itself.
Hello, I have a question to ask you, the Goedrum controller for this Alesis module, inside it only has what you see in the video? Only a slide potentiometer connected to the female jack ?? No small circuit with resistors or anything prior to the jack ??

It's great !! I'm looking for one for my module that is an Alesis Forge, which is compatible with the Surge, and the Nitro and others from Alesis, but I don't know how much the resistance of the fader is, you have any idea if the potentiometer is 20k or 25k and if Is it mono or stereo ?? .... I can't get it because they don't send me for Covid-19 and I want to buy only the potentiometer. Search the Alesis forums but there are no conversations or posts regarding this. If you can find out how much the potentiometer is, I would really appreciate it.

Judging by how hard it is to get the splash on the Alesis Nitro Module with the Alesis Nitro Mesh Hi Hat Pedal, I suspect the splash issue is a module issue.
yeah, it works fine with both controllers on the Roland, so I'm sure you're right.

Thanks for the video! So, do I understand it correctly that the high hat controller is only a linear potentiometer inside a housing? That would make it super easy to build one by myself!
BTW, doesn't the splash thing depend on the module? It did the splash work before / with another controller?
Not sure how you'd build the housing, maybe 3d printer? The splash only seems to work with the original Nitro controller.

@@RonGallardo777 Hi! No, I bought an ATV digital drum kit. It's really really GOOOOOD! It's the ATV EXS-5. Highly recommend. But I haven't totally forgot the idea of building my own kit cause I want to be able to go digital when performing live. And, it would look so much better if I were to have acoustic drums with digital triggers. So, maybe I'll do that later. Will write here if I remember if i make a video.

I actually don't know, I never tried a 3rd party controller on the SD1250 module.
Sorry for the noob question but I can't seem to figure this out. If the hi-hat cable plugs into the hi hat controller then what plugs into the cymbal pad????
there's two separate inputs on the module for controller and hi hat.

They have many different versions for different drums. Reach out to Goedrum first and determine the correct model to buy.

Try the NUX DM210 hi hat pedal. It has a built in tension rod in it. But when I attached the chain of my hi hat stand, it won't close. Maybe an extension plate will make it work.

I've bought a roland TD 9 module. Trying to make all Alesis Nitro pads to sound correct with the new module. But, as you've already told, the controller is the problem.
I'm going around your vídeos but still haven't found the "answer"...
What is your advice to solve this? Buy a Roland controller? A Goedrum device ?
I don't have a cymbal stand so I would have to get one of those too.

The easiest solution for you would just be to get a Roland FD-7 reverb.grsm.io/fd7

I'm coming to that same conclusion as a lot of newcomers: should have spent some more at the beginning... I'll end up spending the same or more.
I have a new question for you. Don't know if the td-6 has it, but in TD-9 there is a definition of the pads you are using.
Since I'm using Alesis pads/cymbals I'm keeping the original definition.
But I suppose that it influences the overall sound.
So, if you're not using roland pads which ones should you "say" to the module you're using?

@@edgarsousa6630 The pad definitions are basically just starting points of pre-set settings you can edit to get the best trigger response. You can just pick the one closest to the one you are using and make changes from there.
Hello! Some other videos have commented that you can’t use the GoEdrum with the Nitro Module, but need the Dm-10 module.

So that module is to the original Alesis nitro, not the nitro mesh?
the Nitro module is the same on the Nitro, Nitro Mesh, Alesis Surge, and even some KAT kits and other brands. It was made by Medeli and is used in a lot of different drum kits.

@@christopherheadcase6886 no worries, I used to have one of their hi hat controllers, but it didn't fit on any stand I had. Other than that it worked pretty well.

There's really no way to know for every set. Some I'm sure it would work, others not. Usually with cheap modules it isn't worth upgrading the hi hat controller.

I actually never checked to see if the original hi hat cymbal would fit on a standard hi hat clutch. If so, then yes, but I don't have it anymore to test.

@@fitnesstorresflores6477 are you sure you ordered the right one? Honestly you won't get much of an improvement even if it works perfectly. The Nitro module is very limited as far as what it can do with the hi hat. You're better off using the Nitro controller.
