Thanks for helping. My printer is working now. Now, that $5 I spent--oh right, they gave me the printer for free at the garage sale. I refilled the cartridges then needed this video. Thanks for that.

Ok...perhaps THIS worked for this person and a few others here.
Doing the OOBE reset CAN (not necessarily will) cause permanent damage to the printer. I tried this procedure and the power never EVER returned. I had to replace the printer afterward.
HP acknowledges that THIS reset CAN cause permanent damage but gives no explanation as to "why" or what type of damage CAN result from this reset.
I am sure the "power" issue is something relatively simple for an electronics technician. Most likely this "reset" damaged or overloaded some sort of non-volatile IC or some other component on the board.
There is very little (and I do mean VERY LITTLE) information about power loss (following certain types of resets on HP printers) and how to fix, correct or avoid it. Meaning the information given usually amounts to "soft" resets (which will not help you if your machine will not power on) and if none of these "fixes" work, HP usually just says you should replace the printer.
It's a shame because most of the time the printers are running just fine and something as simple as refilling a cartridge with ink can result (through these resets) in a printer death is insane.
Reading some of these comments, I see that some here had "success" with the reset but the ink levels displays remained low. I can tell anyone interested about my own experience (since I replaced the printer with the same model). I did a simple refill of the old cartridges. I used the refilled (old) cartridges in the "used" printer. The black ink level does show full. The colors all display themselves as low.
Since the cartridge "chips" don't actually measure ink levels but rather number of pages printed (and maybe I have that part wrong...perhaps it is the printer itself that does the counting) it would seem that if you use some cartridges from a different printer (but same model) that the levels would show "full". It did not in my case. I am able to print with the full cartridges even though they don't display "full". Not sure how long I will be able to do that.
All I can say is BE VERY CAREFUL when performing some of these resets. Do some research BEFORE you do a reset. Know which type you are doing and what type of "side effects" or DAMAGE may result.
The used 8600 I found on ebay seems to be working "ok" (still displaying low link levels) and the price was around $100.
    Anyway...just be extra careful.

it works, but, the ink level is always low, I can print 10
sheets, later I mark it empty again, and I have to do the procedure
again, is there any way I can mark a higher level of ink?
