      1. The media perception hurt him. Kobe calling him soft. Shaq getting defensive and blaming Dwight cause he thought a young Dwight was a threat - a lot of things media wise /narrative wise played a part into him not making it
      2. I hate to say this but he kinda played himself out of that list. Like Derrick Rose. Like Vince Carter. If Rose retired in 2016 he probably makes it over Dame. But he played so kuch longer post his prime to where he got more past his prime yrs than dominant yrs. Same with Dwight. He has not been an all star since 2014. Its been a while. He might have played himself out of that list. Hung around way too long past his prime and now people remember the old Dwight.

@@MarcusDailyMedia so when Kobe magically showed up with an enhanced set of post moves to specifically counter his athletic decline was that not developing his skillset? You very well know what he meant. Its also why Ben Simmons is struggling so badly. Kobe basically said he tried to show Dwight how to be a champion but Dwight had an image in his head on what a championship team supposed to look like. He said Dwight wanted the locker room to be harmonious but that wasn't the reality and he didn't think Dwight was willing to deal with what it really was opposed to what he thought it should've been.
