      Lasse Riise Prominent Brexiteers were given key cabinet positions on business, trade, and negotiating Brexit. It has been 900 days now, and all we have now is the biggest political crisis I have seen in my lifetime. Previously stable U.K. has become a laughing stock of Europe. The real issues in this country are ignored because our politicians are too overwhelmed by the boring complexity of Brexit process. Taxpayer money is used by the government for legal advice which is used to circumvent the parliament scrutiny of the Brexit deal. May, Corbyn, and Farage are not interested in people’s will, if it goes against their own deluded beliefs.

    • @Ont525

      imdbist I don’t see any remainers in the government. People who voted remain yes, but the prominent People’s Vote campaigners are Tory and Labour backbenchers. Frontbenches in both parties are manned by people who want soft or hard Brexit. “Brexit means Brexit” May is not a remainer.

      If you listen to her whole speech to the end very carefully.
      And if you educate yourself on democracy and her processes like the good Friday agreement you would know that her deal gives brexit when northern Ireland has become United well the start of that process.
      About ten years.
      BREXIT is the opposite to the good Friday agreement and its international law and a treaty which the UK is bound by.
      The backstop as she has said won't ever be used because the implementation period can be extended indefinitely until the process if the good Friday agreement has run its course.
      Reject this deal means brexit is over.

      This line is rubbish concocted by people that don’t understand politics.Do you really think she needs the money? And she’s certainly not doing it for the admiration of her peers. She is doing the only thing she has a democratic mandate and parliamentary support for, which is negotiate a withdrawal agreement. She has no mandate to remain and she has no parliamentary support for a no deal. Time to stop fantasising about a utopia that doesn’t exist and get on with it.

    As an outsider, I really don't get it - everybody in Europe knows that a no-deal-hard-Brexit is the worst possible outcome, basically economic suicide, so the T.May deal is pretty much the only chance for the UK to buy some time to get N.Ireland and a customs/trade deal sorted out in the coming years. What do these people expect which kinda deal is actually possible? The EU's position has been clear and in writing for over a year. Does the ENTIRE political class of the UK suffer from some sort of a superiority complex?

      @formxshape 5 лет назад +5

      Yes. It's embarrassing. Not just the political class but a lot of people in the UK too. They talk about fighting for our fishing industry for example. UK fishermen catch 40 species of seafood and export it to the EU as UK people won't eat anything more fishy than a McDonalds McFish. We actually import 75% of our fish - Cod, Salmon, haddock. etc. Yet these leave voters keep talking about taking back our fishing waters as if they eat a Japanese variety of seafood. Embarrassing country. I only want to stay within the EU so I can move to sensible Portugal.

    • @petegiant
      @petegiant 5 лет назад +1

      No one knows the economic implications, predictions of that ilk are frequently wrong. There is no end date to the backstop. It is not the EU's fault our government has a remainer negotiating a half and half deal. Now there is talk of a May's deal vs Remain vote, which would mean the original winning leave voters wouldn't have an option. If it isn't sorted in the coming years Labour and Conservative political parties will become defunct.

It has become increasingly likely parliament is not going to allow Brexit, so i suspect there will be civil unrest and politics will be forever changed if we get stuck in a 'limbo'. Alternatively we could find ourselves back in the EU with a total loss of reputation, with the financial implications of such a scenario regarding both the EU and the world.

      It seems a lot of people don’t understand what makes a country a democracy. The UK is only a democracy because the elected representatives are the supreme body for making law. The only reason the EU was ever allowed to make law is because the powers given to it by parliament could be taken away. A vote based on that leaving is suicide means the EU council/commissions powers as the supreme, unelected, irremovable makers of law in the UK cannot be taken away. In that scenario in what way would the UK be a democracy???? We would be less of a democracy than Russia.

    I find it quite ironic. Most Brexiteers I have met, talked to, said that it was immigration that was at the top of their agenda. We have already signed up to the "Marrakech Declaration" that wants 150 to 200 million African migrants integrated into Europe over the next 30 years, and over the last couple of days we have signed up to the "UN Global Compact for Migration" whose ultimate aim is open borders. They say its not legally binding now, but it will be. Anyone that reaches a country that has signed up will have the right to full benefits, welfare all the rights of an indigenous person, no difference, whether you are here legally or illegally. So we are going to loose control of our borders big time and that's got nothing to do with the EU or Brexit. A whole host of countries are not signing up, America, Australia, Israel amongst. They can see where this is leading to.

    Let's cut out some of the rubbish that is banded about.
    52 % which is a democratic majority has voted to leave the EU. Not just for economic reasons but also for reasons of independents and not to be part in future European wars! We do not need another vote on this matter as the result was clear enough. Thanks to the incompetence of our negotiators we now have but one chance. No deal is the best deal! We are in full control and so called experts can hardly be experts in an unpresidented situation. Short turn it will make things harder for big business as they are not agile enough to react quickly long-term however with the right government it will be most favourable! As for us the people imports will no longer be subject to 23%tariffs that goes straight to the EU. So French wine will be more expensive but Australian wine will be 20% cheaper. If we choose non EU or British products we will be better off. These are all things the government won't tell us because they want to stay in the EU to further there careers in Europe. Won't do us the British people any good what so ever!
