And why can't the police just advise people to put lights outside their houses (just to see if someone is approaching) or simply to lock their doors? and when they know who the murderer is, couldn't the police just post his picture everywhere so people would recognize him? the taxi driver is lucky to be alive.

I often forgot to lock my house doors at night...and I do live in a secluded place (although right now my mom is living here with me). I hope I would never experience something like these...but other people in my country got robbed although they locked their houses every night with padlocks too. When the robbers seriously wanted to do it, they will pry your door locks. I have never been robbed probably due to my modest, tiny house. Guessing your from United States? If your punitive Criminal Justice system is so damn good then why do you have a murder rate that is 4 to 8 times higher than the rest of the developed world? Why have US states with the death penalty had murder rates higher than US states without the death penalty for decades?
Besides you clearly don't understand the sentence in this case. Legere has been sentenced to life in prison. After 25 years he can apply for parole. He will never get paroled. End of story.

For whatever reason this episode, listed on Prime as being the first of the series run, was very obviously about a completely different case from 1996. So again, thanks

But it's hardly ever used, from many of the cases I've seen on here. Same as in NZ - we have Preventative Detention - they can keep them in indefinitely, but virtually never do. Many repeat and multiple murderers and sex offenders here - one had 167 convictions for rape and torture and serious abuse of partners and strangers alike. It's not right. One premeditated violent offense should see them locked up for life. If I was in charge they'd never see the light of day again. In fact I'd have them executed, then we;d have money to spend on health and education, not keeping these psycho's in comfort. They have better conditions in prisons here than our elderly people do in their own homes or the rest homes, where abuse and neglect is rife.

All this about unlocked doors, my parents never locked a door in their life. They finally started it once I had my son and I was living there. But growing up our doors were never locked, never thought about it, I'm the same ( my kids are now adults) when they were small children I locked my doors, but now it's a household of adults, I dont lock doors. My daughters get up and lock them, the only time I lock a door is if we are all going out. I know, I'm doing wrong, someone can walk in, kill us all, molest us, etc but i forget. I do tell my lot, last one in lock the doors. You just never know, my 23 year old daughter says she worries of a night a rapist might sneak in and nobody would know a thing. Its easy overlooked especially if you grew up with doors not being locked. As a child, staying over at friends I saw their parents locking doors, it confused me. I know why but i didnt realise just how evil the world was. My parents both came from tiny little villages and they grew up with unlocked doors.. Its weird, I've never really thought about it till now. Wow, i could have been murdered etc in my bed, geez thanks parents... although I'm.sure they never intentionally left them open
