It works as a source of income for anyone with a hacksaw
And your mechanic also makes money. That's 2 people employed. Cats save the environment and the economy!!
😂😂😂
Yeee sum dude my friend works with just got his ripped out from underneath lool
Cats have saved millions of lives around the world. Thank God we have them.
Fun fact: While you were distracted watching this video, I have stolen your Catalytic Converter
good luck I have a straight pipe 😂😂
Looks very good👍
It doesn’t work if it gets stolen 😂
FRRR
Mate you joking???? Free straight pipe hell yeah
@@Fred_the_1996 also how boring is the voice in this video lol
The catalytic converter work by blocking the horsepower
yeah by like 0.5%
@@AhrkFinTey By a bit more than that, but since most vehicles are set up for a certain setup, like having a kat in them, it will probably make you lose hp/torque if you remove it without remapping the ecu. On bikes for example it can really screw with the engine and make it run much much fatter. However removing it then remapping can give up to 5-10% HP gain.
@@alexwithanxmodern cats flow incredibly well, and this isn’t really true anymore. Way back in the day catalytic converters hurt performance a lot more than they do now. There is really very little reason to not run a cat on a car now, unless you are doing proper race car things (like running high zinc content oil, anti-lag/2 step all the time, etc. all of which you really won’t be doing with a street car)
The you get a high flow sport cat..
You seem to know something about this?
the downside of this technology is that over time , the catalytic converter will be useless due to the deactivation of the active precious metal to avoid this we can develop a regeneration system for the active catalyst which enables them to self-regeneration after it is used for long time.
catalytic converters are designed, developed and tested to last the full useful life of the vehicle and overwhelmingly the original OE converters are still in place when vehicles are recycled . In fact, the precious metal containing catalytic converters are typically the first parts removed from a vehicle when it enters a automotive recycling facility and are recycled into new catalytic converters.
Well if it's a catalyst I don't get how it would be consumed overtime. As everybody has studied in chemistry class, a catalyst doesn't get used up, since it's not a reagent. It only allows a chemical reaction to undergo faster, without adding products or changing the equilibrium constant
@@pierpaoloscian5926 an engine, especially an old one or one that is passing unburnt fuel can poison or reduce the surface area of the ceramic support used in the converter. This is why lead and zinc additives were eliminated or reduced as well as fuel sulfur which has been reduced to well below 10 ppm. Unburnt lubricant which contains phosphorus, magnesium, etc can also poison the converter. But as I said previously, overwhelmingly, converters on modern cars last longer than the car itself.
@@pierpaoloscian5926 Thanks, your reply to this matter. you are right as we studied in school the job of the catalyst is only to accelerate the chemical reaction. but, let me explain to you what I mean by catalyst deactivation, for example, in water purification we use filters and membranes, over time what will happen to the filters, all the particles in the polluted water will accumulate in the pores of the filter. so we have either change the filter or we have to clean it. so as the catalytic converter precious metals pt or Pd which are the active site and responsible for the conversion of toxic CO to CO2. when it is used for a long time it will lose reactivity by accumulating carbon and causing deactivation. so it needs the filters either regenerate or change it. that is what I am talking about .
@@mohamedyusufmohamud8193 No precious metals dont reduce in reactivity in the process as they are not consumed in the reaction as they are in other kinds of filtration reactions.
I am not a chemist neither an engineer, I am a technician ( Grease monkey)and I work on cars for many years, what I’ve seen over the years (some cases)broken cats from inside making rattle noises, melted ones from overheating due to engine misfiring pushing raw fuel through the exhaust along with all other emissions that burned in the catalyst, some cases head gasket or intake plenum gasket failure caused internal antifreeze (cooling system)leak into exhaust system through valve’s then trapped inside catalyst
Looks very good👍
I chopped mine off and threw it in the trash. Replaced the section with 2.5 inch steel pipe
You could sell it :P
you just threw away $600 or more. dummy
best decision mate XD
You threw away Platinum, which is worth more than gold.
Stupid decision mate
You could sell it
That thing is damn expensive
blame palladium and platinum for that
Catalytic converters have been used since the later half of the 1970s.
You take your whole exhaust off. Then wait.. get this… one solid pipe from the turbo back….
Hell yeah
You seem to know something about this?
These rare metals are mainly found in South Africa and are very expensive
You seem to know something about this?
So if catalic converter had a columetric element can distillate some gasoline back to gas tamk and the rest mix with air to second chamber to return as gasoline too
👍
I just put a turbo on my Jeep. I didn't think the cat is gonna last very long. 😂

Coooool so it costs 500$ and my car can run without it. Got it.
There is no problem with this
90% of my cats end up laying on the ground of an exhaust shop.
Even on the daily???
@@Fred_the_1996ESPECIALLY the daily
I think that‘s illegal.
You seem to know something about this?
Very good explanation but why do we have to have noise in the background, how can we learn with noise in the background.
I dont care for nature, i want flames out of my exhaust
FRRRRR
Same here
No man can influence nature. Has the seasons changed I'm 29 haven't seen it
cause you are a bad and selfish for other things around us
carbon monoxide actually is very harmful to human beings. Besides that, I agree with you, "environment" concerns are bullshitery
You seem to know something about this?
Watching this video i didnt realize i didnt have a catalytic converter and how important it is but now after watching, after 7 years i will invest into one
You seem to know something about this?
So do private jets have a cat because I’m pretty sure they also dump fuel
I doubt it's fuel they'd dump if necessary!
I am your 1000th subscriber
Why won’t they just put the parts in a catalyst converter inside the muffler and just have a huge muffler
@@SLAPDOORSf that imagine borla exhaust prices. 2-3k a muffler easy.
Wow, I always thought they were called Cadillac converters!
Funny guy 😂
You seem to know something about this?
Catalytic converters were required on cars in North America in about 1972..
the best is to cut it out with a grinder and weld in a piece of pipe
You're very unprofessional.
I am form India 🇮🇳
We don't care
in a large period is a headache the best thing a downpipe up to the motor, this new sheets including the EGR in a large period of time start to fail, and you think that is the motor but its a computer automatic response when they start to fail.
Dose this apply to vw ;)
What are catalytic converters ????What is new oil tech and will it minimize chemicals in oil and relieve the stress on catalyic converts????
This technology is developing day by day, you still need to watch and learn more
I'm so glad none of my vehicles have this garbage on them
What will new oil tech bring to the oil sector????? Invitation, jobs, and a safe environment.....
Cut the cat off on my 1.9 TDI. Now it smokes funny and drives better.
How to clean it? And when we must clean it?
u clean it by driving, just need to get it up to temperatur, its mentioned in the video at the end. other than that you dont need to do anything yourself
Exhuast pressure low, Engine heat decrease and little noise rise but it not illegal 😅
spending too much fuel…engine choking
Does removing it reduces fuel consumption?
@@ramycraft5349 improves it
@@ramycraft5349 removing a catalytic converter typically does not improve fuel economy or power on an electronically controlled engine unless the ECM is re-tuned for the reduction in exhaust restriction. However, the act of removing a catalytic converter or re-tuning an ECM is illegal in most jurisdictions.
Twenty years ago, EPA agents came to the Western Auto store in my little East Texas town and confiscated all the replacement pipes that were on the shelf for sale to put on your car temporarily to see if your Catalytic converter was clogged. People were leaving them on their cars permanently, and the EPA knew it. They said if they found any there later, the store would be fined and closed.
@@stevenpollard5171 GOOD!! And so they should. Tampering with your vehicle’s emission control system is illegal. Preventing tampering is intended to protect vulnerable communities from dangerous amounts of pollution.
can't have shit in Detroit
2023 kia shortage , has 2 cats …9k to replace ….warranty didn’t cover
🙄
No I took drilll bits and just went right through them
i love it
Less hp soooo it has to go sorry not sorry world
i dont have one :))))))
Why do people even want to steal this
Fuk i it I was worry it was finna fuck my truck up
I don’t really care for these things because they make cars quiet and rob power… But after seeing what toxic gases are filtered from it I almost wana put the catyl back on…😅
i cut mine off
This explained nothing
Thanks for the lie Ms. female alien robot

Catalytic converter are the end game of society. Ruin a car for no reason and fool buyers coinciding
@justinthor you think citizens have control over the system. Also catalytic converters and o2 sensors are the biggest mistakes followed by dual overhead cam motors. You son are ignorant
Catalytic converters vastly reduce the amount of CO, HC, and NOx in your exhaust. These gases are harmful to the environment and to you. A modern cat only sips a percent or two of HP, so it’s really a no brainer.
@@christofferhansson7950 when the mean reduce carbon emissions they mean from you also
