      Where would they relocate if everywhere is getting weather-beaten? This is a global problem. You need to think as such rather than accepting provincial corporate media summarization. Platitudes don't work especially when you are clearly ignorant of the reality.

    • @Ominousheat
      @Ominousheat 5 лет назад +2

      @Prairiedoggen It sounds like you don't agree with the science. So no this is not a regular phase. Trust me.I'm a science writer. How can you be so arrogant as to suggest you know better than all the climatologists of the world. And there is no debate about it. It's been known for 40 years that anthropogenic climate change is real. Ten years before the UN was made aware of this thanks to professor James Hansen the CEO's of Exon and other oil companies had received a memo from their own company scientists claiming the effect of CO2 will raise global temperatures to dangerous levels. They covered it up but it's now easy to find. And yet none of them have been prosecuted for this purposeful ignorance of the damaging effect that their product, not could, but would cause. You have been sold down the river by corporate propaganda. Of course, if that makes you laugh then you are clearly comfortable thinking like that and so I won't grieve over you when the truth catches you out. This is a global problem. But you are just one person who couldn't care less because you don't want things to change. The nature of physics does not care for your personal beliefs.

    • @Ominousheat
      @Ominousheat 5 лет назад +2

      @Prairiedoggen The memo was sent in the seventies and was an internal examination in response to the fact that CO2 increases global temperatures. The newly formed EPA were discussing it so OPEC members thought it best to rebuttle if they could. They couldn't and so went on a campaign of disinformation. The same agencies used were the same as those who fought for tobacco and chemical companies. It's a scam on a global scale and if you can't see through the fog you are crippled.

      I too was thinking the clip looked more like a media photo-op. Sandbagging an already flooded home is counterproductive.
      The efforts should be deployed where flood can still be prevented. Once dirty water has gotten in, you'd need to gut the place anyway whether it's four inches or forty inches doesn't matter. Protect the ones that are still dry downstream.

    Another low-pressure system center coming from Illinois to Indiana to SW Ontario to New York to New Hampshire starting on Wed. May 1. Expect at least 5 cm rain for 24 hours for Ottawa and Montreal. Then on Friday more light rain in Quebec, pushing east to the coast by Saturday, with snow and freezing in northern Quebec. Heavy flooding in agricultural areas in the US. Hit hard. There is nothing that can be done to prevent what is occurring. Political solutions will not stop the heavy winter storms that are coming, however every effort should be made by preparing at an individual / community level by having sufficient food, water, clothing, and equipment.

Should of been able to predict snow melting and failures on the levy.relocated the snow like other cities. Buils more damns and redirect water flow.bigger water treatment facilities.if Trudeau spent all his immigrant money on revamping your water issue there would be an issue. When london flooded and had downtown flooded 8 feet up houses in the middle of city. We made a lot of changes to prevent this. Hoepfully Québec can figure out a better system.

      97% of climate experts agree humans are causing global warming.
      Authors of seven climate consensus studies - including Naomi Oreskes, Peter Doran, William Anderegg, Bart Verheggen, Ed Maibach, J. Stuart Carlton, and John Cook - co-authored a paper that should settle this question once and for all. The two key conclusions from the paper are:
      1) Depending on exactly how you measure the expert consensus, it’s somewhere between 90% and 100% that agree humans are responsible for climate change, with most of our studies finding 97% consensus among publishing climate scientists.
      2) The greater the climate expertise among those surveyed, the higher the consensus on human-caused global warming.

    Don't build in a flood plain, valley, or anywhere that doesn't have lower ground that water will flow to. Flooding is an issue regardless of climate change and no amount of supposed political action will stop low-lying areas from flooding; That is some of the craziest and most disrespectful political pandering I've ever heard.
    For solving climate change, it's not helpful to be dishonest to voters to try to get ahead. The ends don't justify the means, and it was not clever to link natural disasters to climate change and bring the level of discussion down to an anti-intellectual level

  • @leeblanche4983

    Natasha, Ralph Goodale(ministry of public safety) did not give a reason for the floods, he implied that CO2 was the cause of the "wild cycle of storms, floods, drought and wild fires" he implied that if we PAY TAX to the government we can mitigate it and slow it down and that is a load of bollocks.

      sand bag is only a temporary measurement for blocking water. Fixing the climate change take a long long time & involve both effort of Canada & USA. this would take decades to see the effect. More important is Canadian Government should devote itself on infrastructure development. In this case dredging the depth of the rivers and create more flowing paths of the rivers so water can flow out to ocean easily.
