How hard to replace alternator for a handy DIY non mechanic without removing engine on a 2018 Promaster City? Also possible/advisable to upgrade the alternator to something bigger or more robust and durable than OEM? BTW, is it possible to short an alternator? My dealer said my after market wiring shorted my alternator and they won't cover it in warranty?
Disconnect battery to avoid any short risk, why is there an aftermarket harness. Wondering... Not sure on alternator upgrade, Not my field. I actually was going to do a video on how to replace the alternator but lost footage. No need to remove engine or radiator. Remove power steering pulley, pump and bracket to power steering pump

Bolt on tensioner is reverse threaded to keep it tight when it is moved counterclockwise to relieve belt tension. Only one like it I’ve encountered.
