The church was painted white on the inside by the Soviets during WWII as they used the location as a storage facility. This was common for the Soviets to erase the old artwork of historical locations.
Thank you for the info. Most of the churches in the UK suffered the same fate (but for different reasons). I might do a video on some local churches that escaped this whitewash.
The markings on the trees walls signs etc. are official trails. They can be in 4 different colors Red, Green, Blue, Yellow. Each of this color means something. Red is for long or summit trail Blue means, that trail is in some way significant. Green is short local trail. Yellow is for shortcut, or interconnecting trail.
@@stepthroughhistory You can find this tourist mark system everywhere where Czechoslovakia was located in the past, even in Carpathean Ukraine where club of Czech tourists still keeps 100 years old marks and create new ones.
This video is incredible, it truly brings the beauty of Sassau from Kingdom Come. I was in the Czech Republic two months ago, and seeing places like these in real life gave me such a deeper appreciation for the country’s history and charm. I had an amazing time exploring the landscapes, towns, and hidden gems. This video really takes me back, thank you for sharing! CHEERS 🍻🫡⚔️🛡
Do you imagine when entering the Czech Republic, declaring reason of visit: KCD 😄 it would look fun in touristic statistics. Great video by the way! I hope I can visit these places myself one day
Flawless video and great trip. It's great that Warhorse has incorporated such little-known places into the game, which are often unknown even to Czech tourists, let alone tourists from abroad. They show that the Middle Ages also existed outside notorious places like Prague or Paris. That even rural places, from a historical point of view, often have interesting history and monuments. Thanks for your video.
Thank you, really glad you enjoyed the video too. Everywhere has a story to tell and has been a part of the larger narrative, we need more of these 'smaller' places to take centre stage in stories for sure. Warhorse have done an incredible job already and I can't wait to see what they recreate in the future.
I'm so glad that youtube recommended me this video. Thank you for sharing the experience. I'll definitely watch the rest of your journey. Jesus Christ be praised!
Thank you from Yorkshire, so glad you enjoyed the video. I can't wait for kcd2, I've avoided all the promotional material. I want to be as clueless as I was for the first game 🤣
Another great video - I've been looking forward to Sasau. I stumbled across your video series just as I had told me wife I gotta show her the cathedral IRL vs in the game and you literally just provided me with the best video(s) for it!
@stepthroughhistory already started trying to convince the wife! As a fellow redhead, I'll learn from your mistakes regarding the sunscreen and come prepared 😎
About the markers look up Czech hiking markers system on Wikipedia. It's used in Czechia since late 19th century and is also widespread across the globe. Also great tour, lovely and peaceful hike, soo Kuttenberg or Trosky next time? 🙂
Those tourist marks are all over the country there are small woods near my house, impossible to get lost in but they still have these markings along the main trail.
@@stepthroughhistory really loving this series, I just completed the stone quest at the monastery tonight so it's nice seeing how it is today! Now trying to find the parish priest to fix up the wounded refugees at Sassau
Think I'll agree too. Unreal is amazing for lighting. But Cryengine's trees and vegetation always look more real. Warhorse did an amazing job with the lighting in this game tho, i like the more "cool" tone. I don't know why so many games opt for "warm" colors, helps the game become more cinematic, but looks less realistic at that cost.

Every time someone responds to this question I learn another little nugget. I love the coding system. I am off back so i will learn beforehand

So glad you enjoyed it and great to hear from a fellow kcd adventurer
5:26 .. we have the best tourist markings in the world. Just grab a tourist map or check online, and follow a colored trail 😅🎉
.. its always interesting journey with as much interesting places as possible. There are also some apps that also show you where you are on the path.

It's a great adventure, I hope you do ☺️
Great channel. Those are tourist marks marking tourist treks. Color represents the difficulty.
Excellent, I may have to look that up for when I inevitably return

The sign loosely translates to: Entry forbidden !!! Danger of Death.
So the notorious reputation of Vranik continues through the ages 🤣

Amazing, Love the idea.
Beautiful!

Anyway, the markers on trees are tourist trail markers.
Nice to finally know ☺️ Thank you.

You can, but you can expect a mucky look or a punch in the face 🤣

How long did it take for you to walk the whole trip? How many days did it take you?
P.s. love the channel, keep up the good work
Great question and I will be sure to include it on the live stream.
Cheers, glad you are enjoying my other content too ☺️
Oh regarding Uzhitz - you didn't happen upon a certain... priest, did you? ;)
I couldn't possibly comment 😜
What happens in Uzhitz stays in Uzhitz?
Must have been a bath-house side-quest
You sound like a man who speaks from experience
Those symbols are for hikers 😅 We have the same in Hungary. There is one symbol for one route, it's just a convenient way not to get lost
Love it, thank you for explaining
