I learned about the late dropping chestnut about 13-14 years ago and was fortunate to secure some nuts. I grew those and planted a few to start my home orchard. After some more back crossing I now have several late dropping producing trees that supply nuts that I use grow new seedlings and plant where we deer hunt. I have now also added several named varieties to my orchard for some added diversity and different genetics. The nice thing is that I never have to buy chestnut trees to plant.
What made you plant these trees? I wish I had planted mine as soon as i bought my land.
