  • I have spotted a mistake in this video! - In cyclic photophosphorylation the electrons do not go all the way back to PSII, but just go back to the electron transport chain after PSII and then down to PSI again. So ONLY PSI is involved in cyclic photophosphorylation.

Just watched the video and wanted to point this out. In cyclic phosphorylation, the electrons are transferred from primary electron acceptor to ferrodoxin, then to Plastoquinone, then cytochrome b6f complex, then to plastocyanin and finally back to the reaction centre of PSI.

I'm so confused, around 6:24, you said... in the non-cyclic phosphorylation, it requires NADH and ATP to work. For what to work? And at the end of a long day, why does the plant become short of NADP+? And if it's at the end of a long day... Why would sunlight still be coming in?
Also, WHY doesn't the electron need to be re-excited and charged? The electron is becoming weak as it passes through the ETC, (aids in pumping H+ ions into the lumen).... So how are you able to recycle these e-, if they are constantly losing power? So confused

Water being forcibly oxidized to replace the electron crucial to PS II is nothing short of phenomenal, and it is unfortunate when instructors understate this lynch pin--unique among life forces, as oxygen production is one of the major values of photosynthesis.
