I’ve had the 2015 Outback here in NZ for the last 132kms. Now that the finance is ended I can’t wait to get rid of it. Maybe normal family buyers don’t care but I just can’t live with that CVT anymore.
At least you took them off road unlike the last plonkers I just watched, you should show more off road stuff as everyone knows the are more than capable on road. The Outback is very capable off road I have taken my 04 Outback on some pretty crazy tracks in NZ, but when I grow up I'll get me a proper off road/on road vehicle a 2017 4Runner.
The Outback is great off road but 99% of the time most buyers will be on road and the Outback is a slug with the CVT. Maybe the Diesel spices it up though. No Diesel option available in Canada. We like to breathe fresh air.
I am from Austria where Subaru is a small niche brand and VW has been No 1 in sales for decades. I need a capable 4WD and the Outback would be a no-brainer over the Passat.
What I found while looking at a 2007 Subaru Outback and look at a 2008 Volkswagen wagon Passat is that up to year 2012 they changed the box engines for the Subaru’s which is a good thing, so overall that’s what’s making me lean more for a Volkswagen wagon
VW has a diesel engine for long journeys with 100-120 miles/hour on autobahn ,its 4wheel system is only for winter roads in Alps .Subaru petrol engine is better for Russia and Scandinavia(diesel freezing) Subaru diesel is mechanics nightmare ,reliability disaster. But in coutries like USA or Russia where petrol is cheap in comparison to Europe ,Subaru is better choice .Again VW is much more practical in Europe ,and when You live in Germany 99 from 100 ppl buy it cos its domestic product .When they have mone defintely NOT subaru 3.6 but Audi A 6 or 4 Allroad
In short, it's rubbish in Melbourne, and I resulted to taking my Forester to a country dealer before finding a local mechanic. Great cars, let down by a poor dealer network, and twice the servicing costs.
Reliability: check consumer reports. VW is about where Daimler Chrysler exists: the toilet. Subaru? It's no Honda or Toyota, but it's in a comfortable 3rd place. Why would you bother with anything else? -Love my Second Subie.
u r right i'm an audi customer since many years.i drive for 80000 km /year and i have had since now 6 audi.5 of them gave me problem of various kind. my father is a subaru customer , 2 out back and now forester xt , well never had a problem.i'm seriously considering to go for subaru
Apparently they never sat in the back seat of an Outback so having a smaller boot is nothing. If I have to carry a large load I can tow a trailer with my Outback, try that with the Allcrap. Oh...sorry the Allcrap isn’t rated for towing. Sure the Outback has only half the power train warranty, probably because it’s a better system and VW offers a six year warranty to hopefully lure customers in. I’ll never own another VW. Subaru all the way!
So basically , if I want a more off road experience the Subaru is the pick but if a Volkswagen is the choice is more of a downgrade but similar functionality
Y10Q LOL You just made up that information didn't you? Subaru and the Camry have absolutely nothing in common. Totally different platforms, engines, and transmission. Denso supplies some electrical components to most automakers, both domestic and foreign.
Tony The Tiger nope, Subaru of Indiana builds both cars on the same line, lol. They build about 100k Camries every year and 200k Outbacks. Have been for years. Same steel and paint, Same rubber, same electrical components. The only difference is the engine and transmission for Subaru comes out of Tokyo and Camry's comes out of Alabama.
Y10Q Same steel, paint, rubber and wires, doesn't mean same chassis. Subaru uses a chassis that favors its symmetrical all-wheel-drive system, the Camry doesn't. The Camry was temporarily built alongside the Legacy in Indiana. They are totally different cars.

Subaru defined this class. It's what they specialized in for decades.

Vw n1 in sales here? Lol you must be living under a rock
@@whiskeybluez my comment is 4 years old and I am in Austria, VW still #1
@@bernardhossmoto shit I read "Australia" 😂

Is Austria in Australia?

VW is a lot more premium

Jurgen Judzinski pretty good statement man! Agree a lot! Though vw also has petrol options they are generally less efficient so I agree with ya
So sieht‘s aus.
I love my Passat 4M. Perfekt on snowie winterroads in Sweden. On asphalt.......👋👋
Isn't really a fair comparison :P Subaru has been doing this forever haha
subaru name his car, OUTBACK, c'mon it's a badass sport utility wagon. (love my 4th gen outback diesel)
Hi, could you guys elaborate on Subaru's after sales support concerns?
In short, it's rubbish in Melbourne, and I resulted to taking my Forester to a country dealer before finding a local mechanic. Great cars, let down by a poor dealer network, and twice the servicing costs.
I'll take Subaru 4 days
Rivinaka Dharmaratne . Lmao I probably meant it like “For days”.

Shaniqua 52-leben compare the vw to the subi in Europe though so reliability isn’t the be all and end all
Vw is very reliable

The Alltrack can tow up to 2.5 tons without problem. At least mine.
Subaru Outback 👍
I prefer the alltrack

Yess
Subaru 👍
CVT is fucking joke, and not the cheap one.
Barolo Monfortino ‘64 Conterno VS a bottle of heineken was more fair 😬😂
I don't understand why you didn't include the Octavia Scout in this comparison! 🤔
Because the Octavia is same level as VW Golf. And a Golf is not a Passat.
@@waldemarkrieg7031 The scout is the off-road version of the regular octavia wagon so it belongs here
@@manuelmikewa the Octavia Scout is a Golf Alltrack. So it doesn't belong there
@@waldemarkrieg7031 Ok, what am I missing here? Aren't they comparing off-road wagons? Isn't the Alltrack / Scout an off-road wagon?
This comparison is ridiculous.. of course Subaru is better.. but it also costs twice as much
Aussie families with a thirst for adventure should buy a bloody Toyota, end of story.
Toyota and Subaru are corporate partners. Toyota is Subaru's largest shareholder.
Outback is a 4wd Camry wagon, they just call it the Outback. All the parts on it are Toyota's Denso.
