Fantastic video, really great paints, I'm going to order some. Love your dog. Keep on posting these videos, very informative, with a twist of humour. Thank you😊

Hello! Thanks for your video! I just wanted to give you a tip regarding acrylics sticking in a sketchbook... I wax my acrylics with "Renaissance micro crystalline wax polish," which dries instantly and creates a great hardened surface. Museums use it. My acrylic paintings don't stick together at all!

Thanks for the tip. I did try a wax called Dorlands wax but the one you recommend sounds like a better option.

I'd experimented with casein in the studio (it can be used to create the underpainting for oils) and recently have tried it out in the field. I liked it much better than acrylics. One thing to know - it isn't as flexible as acrylics, so if you paint thick layers or impasto, use a hard surface like a wood panel or canvas board so the paint won't crack.

I actually just bought the exact same set because of James Gurney as well. I got to the part where you said the smell was bad and I actually hadn't smelled it yet so I gave it a whiff and I actually quite like the smell. It smells a bit like cleaning supplies, like a typical "Fresh Scent" all purpose cleaner. But since casein paint is made from milk, I wonder if the milk parts have any chance of going rancid over time and changing the smell.

The paints I bought were new but maybe I’m just more sensitive to it. 🤔

Hello! I just got myself a set of casein. Loved the video. Do you have any weird green residue on your brush after using it? Maybe it’s my pthalo green… it doesn’t come off with water, I need to bring in the soap.

Thanks. I don’t have pthalo green. I mixed green using permasol blue and yellow ochre. These paints are expensive so I only have six. I’ve not noticed the residue but I clean my brushes with soap anyway.
