I put another layer on mine... made the bottom stickyboard one 6" wrapped in the black/white Chelsea's Plaid, then added a 5-1/2" wrapped in black/white checks, finished with Lori Holt's small rick rack in cloud, and then the 5" letter on top of that. Love how it turned out. In case anyone is wondering, you can buy flat washers by the pound at Tractor Supply, in the hardware department, which is much cheaper than buying it by the packages. Just be sure that the washers are magnetized, as some of them don't have enough iron in them to stick to the magnets, so to test them, take a magnet with you. There are several types of flat washers and sizes in each type.
Nice tutorial. Looks great on chalkboard. The "H" has a smaller area of open space (void between columns) on top, to make it easier to remember the Top ;) Kimberly's stitches are Fabulous!

Great tutorial, thank you! Would the frame piece support washers if you want to magnetize the background pieces to change out the colors for differnt wreaths?
I'd put the magnets directly on the frame, then, and yes, it would support them. The magnets would be powerful enough, IMHO, to hold both layers in place.
Robin, you can find the magnets at Hobby Lobby... 50 for $7.99. They're in the same area as the Woodpile articles are in. If you can't find them, just ask any employee and they'll guide you there. The washers I would recommend going to Tractor Supply, or even Home Depot or Lowes, where you can buy them in bulk, by the pound. That's the cheapest way to get them, for the quantity you'll need if you finish Swap #1 and #2, and the future #3. Be sure to take a magnet with you to test the washers though, to make sure they'll stick to the magnet, as some flat washers don't have enough iron in them to stick to the magnets, and then to make sure that the washer will be large enough to cover the magnet well enough so that it doesn't fall off when you put the letters on.

That would ensure that you would have enough to do the initial four pieces, plus if you're going to do the Swaps, you'd have enough to do all 12+ of those in that one purchase of a pound of washers. Just be sure that there's enough iron in the washers to be magnetized to the magnets. If there's not, it'll not stick. Take a magnet with you to test them.
@@rhondaalbrecht thanks for your response I was putting my HIWTWI together this past weekend and I had to stop at the magnet n washer portion because the mags I had were 12mm x 2mm and I would have to put 5 on each piece.
