I love going to the rodeo because it's one of the few places in Houston you can go and enjoy an indoor/outdoor activity without fear of being robbed and shot to death.

    Take the Warning !
A few years ago my wife and I decided to take in the festivities of the Houston Rodeo and the attractions.
We heard about the BBQ tasting event and decided on going there. We paid our money and entered the area where all the cook-off’s were happening.
Row after row of BBQ rigs. All them had signs “Private Party… By invitation only”
We kept walking hoping to find what was advertised as BBQ sampling.
At the end of the line we saw a few people gathered at a place where a supermarket, “Randall’s” was giving out a slice of white bread and 3-4 slices of store bought sausage with a little BBQ sauce on the bread.
That was all we got for the money we paid.
That BBQ cook-off is a joke. We could have gone to a BBQ restaurant in town and had real BBQ.
Beware when you get suckered in to the BBQ tasting area be aware of your experience.

The bbq cook off is a known farce. You have to be part of a company or band that has a tent, unless you have wristbands and an invitation you’ll get nothing out of the cook off. It’s a joke

@@KellyK387 The news reporters really push it at the beginning of the rodeo.
One man told me he took his wife and 3 kids to the BBQ sampling. They all got a turkey leg apiece. Each turkey leg cost $18.00. He spend over $90 for that experience.

Part of the reason for that is the rodeo charges the vendors a fortune to set up shop there so the vendors have to charge their customers a fortune for their food.
