Kulu’s role looks like Ange has unlocked how to deal with low blocks. The first goal showed having Brennan and Kulu on the right drew 5 or 6 defenders. Kulu has the touch to work the pass to Bis to have a full swing. Great great goal. All within the same formation by playing with the player selection. Ange naive! I don’t think so.

Great informative pod as always. Spot on comparing the stats from the first 2 games, highlighting people needing to chill and not just look at the result and overreact (one way or the other), but look at the uderlying stats and judge. Some times the better team just doesn't win, that's football.

    Thanks lads, great show.
What a fantastic turnaround from a poor squad with a massive drop off to now, really effective cover in nearly all positions (LB).
Young fearless talent to push our senior pros.
Well done to Levy for getting Ange and the new recruitment 🤩🤩

Hey Phil! We are certainly preferring the new structure DL set up with Lange. Seems to have better structure with transfers and creating the building blocks for an exciting future. COYS

Thanks. An excellent panel and overall discussion. As you all point out, the xfer window has really been very good in my view. Jettisoning the players who don't fit, have underperformed - unlike in previous windows when laggards have been allowed to stay - unforgivable acceptance of mediocrity. I'm overjoyed that a pathway has been created for the youngsters - those with ability and amibition now really (or should) feel that they have a chance to be promoted. And it also feels like we have two good players for every position. Perhaps we need another goalkeeper - and eventually another left back as I would be disappointed if Spence is continued to play there. I do agree that we should not have kept Werner on.

    Hello.
    Hope all is well.
As a Son super fan, I wanted to drop off my unbiased opinion on Son’s journey and decisions at Spurs.
Before I begin, I’m absolutely certain that all teams in world football would’ve been extremely eager to sign Son at one point of time. It’s not rocket science‼️
Real Madrid signing Son would’ve allowed them to literally dominate the Asian market. Yes, son is a global superstar. Just from simply an economics perspective it’s common sense.
Now let’s look back at Son’s hypothetical decision process and highlight some key moments.
    1. Son Heung-min was able to earn an exemption from military service and keep playing in the English Premier League after his country took gold at the 2018 Asian Games. Tottenham and Poch granted a special permit to all Son leave the club midway through season.
    2. The Sours team with Poch and players like Kane, Erickson, Dele, Dembele, Walker, Rose, Vertogen, Toby, Loris was a formidable force close to a Trophy.
    3. 2019. Mourinho the serial winner joins and believes he’d bring silverware.
    4. 2021. Nuno joins as Kane makes it public he’s ready for Manchester City hence allowing Son to be the main man.
    5. 2021. After the dust, serial winner Conte becomes manager. Another opportunity to believe in building silverware.
    6. 2023. Kane departs for Bayern
    7. 2023 Ange becomes new manager and makes Son captain and literally the main face of the club.
So, let’s take a moment to reflect these occurrences. What would you have done if you were Son?
Force a move in 2019 from the club that saved your career from military exemption?
Leave when Mourinho or Conte the serial winners get appointed?
Leave when you know the club would suffer after the loss of Kane, the best striker in the world?
Or perhaps leave when the club makes you captain and the man?
In summary, I’ve seen Son cry his ass out like a lost soul after his losses in finals or knockout rounds.
    Does he have ambition?
    Of course he does.
Simply put, he’s had to make difficult decisions in each turning point and we should respect him for that to.
Let’s be brutally honest. Does anyone see us playing against Arsenal or any top team without Son and dream of winning?
It’s easy to say we need a replacement for Son. Who? Who scores double digits and assists double digits each season consistently?
It’s delusional to even dream that there are replacements to players such as Son or Kane.
Finally, let’s give a big shout out to Son for overtaking the Premier League Legend Steven Gerrard in overall goals.
Son’s now 21st and still with us.
Keep up your good work and may you spread the above facts if you agree. 🙏

I don't think it is a matter of Ange learning how to deal with low blocks as much as now having a squad that he wants.
This is Angeball evolving as buy in to the system develops along with having the required players.

Hands up, I was one of the sceptics about Odebert; thinking why are we getting another player for the future. How wrong I was. I'd forgotten the most important injunction - IAWT - In Ange We Trust. Great signing.
Also, I thought we needed another Six but now as with you guys, with Biss, Archie G and Bentancur (although I agree with DJ the latter is more a No 8) I'm not so concerned. Perhaps a discussion for when Jim returns. I do though think we need a LB cover for Destiny. Great stuff as always, guys. Regards, Rick in Aust...

Hey Rick! Agree on all you've said. The 6 situation is one we may know truly have an answer to until January. Perhaps Ange is happy to wait and see for now how we get on with what we have. COYS

Ange is a very attack minded manager. I would agree and not be surprised if we brought in another attacking midfielder as competition for Madison?

Good to hear Jonny give a bit of credit to DL. He seems to have had a complete epiphany in regards to transfers especially in regards to the hits he is taking on players out. It can not be easy to sell/give away players that have cost a pretty penny while at the same time see any player Spurs want to buy double in price as soon as Spurs become interested in one. And this is all , we are told. while keeping Spurs on a sound footing financially ? So all you Levy haters give credit where credit is due and temper the vitriol (nastiness).

My main concern for this season is experience on pitch!! Okay we'll start off with first xi they are in spurs terms as experienced , we've brought in this season Gray Bergvall and Odobert, no experience of system and it looks like they'll see off games, have they got the experience to see off games?

    • @dutchgrass
      @dutchgrass 2 месяца назад

tbh imo both Gray & Bergvall showed in preseason that they understand & work in the system quite well. The thing is we are now buying players that have the attributes to play the system, unlike last year where Ange was having to get players who were brought in for a very different style of play to learn how to play his way. I do agree with you re experienced heads, our team is very young & you wonder how they will cope when the bumps in the season come. Ideally we would have a Davids or Naybet type signing to pass on their experience but don't think it is going to happen.
