@@dopaminedreams1122 As an American, I find this to be super-interesting despite knowing nothing of your politics. Yes, it looks like it goes pretty high up here in this case, but a lot of local corruption comparisons can be drawn (to here in the US), even leaving party politics out of it entirely. Oftentimes localities in the US have ended up where the local politicians, sheriffs/police, and development companies can all be controlled by a sort of nebulous corrupt entity. Watching this video with no prior knowledge, at first I was surprised that people under/supporting a politician would stoop to firebombing...but then came the part about the gambling lobby, and to me it became clear that the interactions with them are more likely to have caused such a mob-like response (though I know the politician is somehow affiliated with the gambling lobby, too, it just seems like too big a step for even the most corrupt politician to take). So to me that is where the real danger lies. It also seems like there are most likely many links between the local politicians and the gambling lobby to actual organized crime waiting to be discovered. Perhaps it is stating the obvious, but with John Barilaro, I doubt that he is just a one-off corrupt politician but moreso a product/cog of a larger system of corruption. I will have to keep an eye on the story as undoubtably there will be more brought to light in the future.

Huge amounts of corruption, awful and very much illegal activity politicians, zero individual rights or ones that barely exist/are being taken away, and of course governments who are rightfully suspect for taking bribes and cutouts from the CCP. Don’t blame the CCP Australia is a huge mining resource and port for naval fleets and Canada sits right on the edge of America with easy access for spy’s and other stuff. So rather blame the politicians for being so power hungry they compromise everything in the long run.

australia has been essentially under control of the US since the 90s, very dodgy stuff how that happened. research about the five eyes, which australia is a part of. the gov has also been one of the biggest funders for fake news/propaganda for regime change to destabalise regions they deem a "threat". next time you read about australian foreign policy in the news, check on their "sources" and see if they come out of an australian think tank or washington DC think tank, that is mostly funded by their own government with evidence that is so low quality it would be thrown out by the UN. if seems like it's benefitting the war industry complex/rich corporations, be very wary & critical of the evidence. it becomes a bit of a shock when you start to realise how mad it is, but at least there are lots of good people in australia!

For reference.... America has no city in the top 30 most liveable cities in the world. Australia is fucking amazing. You're welcome to come and visit. We would love to have you!!!
