I think the whole "you're at a top ranked school so you're learning from the best of the best" needs to be taken with a grain of salt. Like, I go to a top-ranked college and honestly the best in the field often make for the worst educators. Like being good in your field does not correlate with being a good instructor. Plus, top ranked colleges are usually ranked for their research, and research colleges often mean professors are more focused on their research rather than their roles as professors.

I majored in economics and political science in undergrad and I can tell you don't skip your philosophy lecture. It is some of the most interesting stuff you will learn and will help you think about and understand the world in more ways than demand elasticity will. I went on to grad school at Hopkins and am now an economist at the bureau of labor statistics. Good luck with your studies and say hi to Dr. Brunnermeier, he helped me with one of my grad school papers!

I will say that Economics at Florida State is taught in the college of social sciences, so the focus is definitely different.

I'm an econ student from Colombia and I studied econometrics with Fumio Hayashi's book. He published the book with Princeton, and it was really helpful tbh
I also study economics, in Poland. Looks pretty similar, the only difference i see is that i write things down on paper instead of that fancy electronic touchscreen device.
