Humans are prone to faults and mistakes, it's in the nature of humans to sometimes fall. Just because he was a learned individual, it didn't make him perfect or separate him from the fundamentals of what psychologically makes up a human. What happens after is the most important. Inshallah people will look past this mistake, as everyone is deserving of second chances, and we will continue to see more of his amazing voice. - "Whoever does not show mercy will not be shown mercy!" - Hadith narrated by Abu Hurayrah (R.A) in Al-Bukhari and Muslim

Humans are deserving of second chances, and humans make faults and mistakes. Yet not all mistakes are the same for all humans, his position is a position of power and influence and he used that for his own desires if the allegations are true. Why should he be allowed to go back into this position if this were true.
A sin committed by someone in a position of power is that much greater because of this compared o any other person making that mistake., and they shouldn't be allowed to return to that position after.
Would you allow your wife or daughter to go see him after this? I certainly wouldn't so why defend him?
