Yet another example of the media not doing their research. Federal dollars ARE taxpayer dollars. Regardless, it's exciting that this project is finally starting. America needs high speed railways.
How can you say "no taxpayer dollars will be used on this project" (direct quote) and then say "the project received $3 billion from the federal government". That's taxpayer money. Where do you think the federal government got it? Everything gets taxpayer money. Interstates, rail, airports, buses. To say otherwise is objectively false.

No not really that was blown out of proportion. It will be a demand based model but at this stage no one knows. It’s all speculation until they get the full project done. Then a discussion can be had about costs.
@portcybertryx222 clearly pricing discussions are being had already hence them say $400 round trip...and I bet they are near that when all is said an done I also bet the price drops significantly due to liw ridership within a yr of beginning operations..30000 riders a day predicted is gonna be a challenge

The difference this time is the railroad is a land development company owned by the United Arab Emirates. Nevada is getting ready to build a new international airport and a new city, and it's going to be on the rail line. That is what got private companies interested.

Ohio train and derailment are NOT govt, by private company owned. Complain to Norfolk Southern.

can you fucking see how the project goes before you call it a failure
The derailment was in spite of the government mandated safety system that did nothing.
Have you ever seen what the traffic on Sunday is like between Las Vegas and southern California? It's murder.
