- The Glenelg tram line is a tram/light rail line in Adelaide. Apart from a short street-running section in Glenelg, the line has its own reservation, with minimal interference from road traffic. The line, originally named the Adelaide and Glenelg Railway, was built by a private company, the Adelaide, Glenelg & Suburban Railway Company, opening on 2 August 1873, and is still in use today.

Trams were once common around Australia. Congratulations on you guys keeping some in Adelaide. You are the only city outside of Melbourne that still has the trams.
We actually did away with them for a time, but they were eventually re-introduced. Adelaide and Melbourne rule :-) Thanks for watching, much appreciated
I started as a Conductor in October 1988.
Became a driver in 1989.
Best job ever.
Awesome Martin 🙏
These H type Adelaide trams were a class of 30 trams built by A Pengelly & Co, Adelaide in 1929 for use on the newly constructed Glenelg tram line. They remained in regular revenue service until replaced by Bombardier Flexity Classic trams in 2006
Terrific info Martin - thank you for watching and sharing that 🙏🍷
Thankyou Will ❤️
My pleasure Kari - thank you for watching
Thankyou so much for putting this here for us to see. Very much a nostalgia trip, as I would have been 18/19 at the time. For a moment I thought "why is everyone driving those old shitboxes" and then I realised, of course. Love this channel so much
My pleasure Tiffy. Glad you're enjoying the channel and thank you for watching :-)
Takes me back, stuck here in Melbourne,🙁
I love Melbourne - though admittedly I wouldn't want to live there due to its sheer size.
Awesome, back when we had coloured cars, not just different shades of grey!
Cheers for watching Jase - much appreciated mate. Hope you enjoyed 🙏🍷
i would have been 19, and took that tram many times
I hope this brought back happy memories for you David. Thank you for watching 🙏
to think that top gun came out a year before this.
Great film. Loved Top Gun: MAVERICK even more :-)
That is a very old train.
It's a Tram just to be accurate, and these models were in service for almost 80 years and weren't fully retired from normal public use until 2008!
All I saw were the letter 'E', some wavy lines, the number '7', a tree, a mug I think.. and the rest I can't be sure..
Lol 🍷
