i use the same speed feed head and love it. saves so much time loading, rarely buggers up and holds heaps of line
I’m sold. The miracle answer to the Stihl trimmer head !!
Got one in the mail today. Instructions are horrible. Your video was great. Made the changeover a breeze. Appreciate your work.
Great channel mate. Love the content
Thank you! I'm a total lawn noob and I successfully installed the speed feed head on my Stihl trimmer thanks to your help. I like it much better than the Stihl OEM head.
Awesome slow mo of the trimmer head. I've been running Echo trimmers with speedfeed heads for years. I love them.
Picked up one of these yesterday and your video clarified the instructions for me nicely. The black & gold bushings come pre-installed in the plastic adapters that you need to retrofit either one of them with the included GREEN bushing for use with a Stihl trimmer. You can either push really hard with your thumbs on the end of the bushing sticking out below the plastic adapter, pushing up, or gently tap at that end with a large flat head screwdriver and rubber mallet to eject the bushing from the plastic adapter if you don't have the thumb strength. The green one slides in quite easily in its place. Also - I needed to use the spacer, placed in between the Stihl's base plate & the Echo Speed Feed before tightening or there was a small gap between them and they would not fit flush against one another on my FS 91R. Just putting this out there if anyone wasn't sure what to do with that :-) Thanks for the upload!
Not only do I enjoy your yard videos but I happen to find this installation video while searching for an installation tutorial after I bought a brand new echo speed feed head when the original bump and go head on my Stihl fell apart. So thanks for the info!
Best head👍
Thanks for the Video
Amazed by the love for Speedfeed trimmer heads. Beware of poison ivy. Not a glove guy.
I had a model older than this one that I love. My sister has difficulty with tools that are too heavy and she actually loved mine and found it easy to use ruclips.net/user/postUgkx_rBCFuDW1zD6blTGhLkvAkxU657uR_lG . This is a newer model but was even lighter which she really appreciates. She enjoys it and I no longer have to go to her house to trim as she can handle it fine. Haven't used it enough to comment on the battery life but lithium batteries last longer than the old style. Being cordless makes it easy to trim the far edges of the property. The entire yard can be trimmed with one charged battery.
Thanks for the video! I'm just starting out and already finding your tips useful. Much appreciated!
Thank You ! I just bought two of these for my Stihl trimmers!
Thanks for the walk through! Made this easier for me.
Thank you from Australia down under for this instructive vid.
Bought a speed feed this year, I like it a lot.
Well I must say thank you cuz the Instructions with my echo told me a different adapter (orange) but it didn't feel right. I tried the green one like you and it worked. Totally saved me a ton of money I bet.
Thanks TN! I had bought a Speed Feed head months ago and tried to install it last week but could not get it figured out. Now I know exactly what I was doing wrong
I bought one after watching a few vids.. they are AWESOME. I chew through .95 line at least once a day doing my rock walls.. I simply cut a 20ft piece of line or so, half it, make a small bend to mark the hallfway, then feed into the halfway point plus an inch or so. twist it on, and feed away.. works awesome for a home jobber.. read the top needs to be replaced as it wears.. but they are about $6...
Just bought an FS- 70R. couldn't be more pleased
omg THANK YOU!
I've never fully seen one of these in action. It I honestly wasn't looking, I always thought I had a speed feed head but apparently I was bass akwards and downside up. I'm getting one for sure!!! Give me three actually
Read your instructions on the insert black one or straight shaft white one for curved shaft that's why they give you instructions when all else fails
From my observation you are 100% correct on the green insert. I put this head on a Stihl fs55 and the instructions said gold insert. That will not work. Install the green one and it will rock and roll. Thanks for the information and video.
I got a low serial number (1991 or older!) SRM1501 (21.2cc's like the newer SRM225) that I still use weekly and a PAS266 trimmer and I got Speed Feed 450 heads (they're even bigger and hold more line than the 400 head) on both of them and convinced my hobby farm owner guy that I weedeat for to switch over his older Stihl FS85 to the Speed Feed head last year too after he saw how fast and easy it is to add more line! Only way to go, Brian! (and everybody)
bought a BG86CE today. will buy a FS56 later on. i will be buying a speed feed head. thanks for the video!
Thanks bro for the 1099/W2 info
Much appreciated!!!!
I have the large speed feed 450 head on my echo. I can reload it with 3 arm lengths (about 15 feet for me) of .105 line in only a minute!
I have a fs90r stihl and none of the attachments that screw it back on the head would work , just used the old one , works great , love the echo speed feed head ! 👍🏻
Thanks Brian ... I'm going to do this too.
Thanks for the information
keep it up plz the motivation is awesome
speed feed head is great, you never want to use the stihl head again after you used it. however i had installed it completely wrong in several different ways before i finally figured this out. Thanks for the video i should haved googled it or possibly read some instructions lol
i admire you so much for being able to run a decent sized business at least in terms of work vs employees while keeping your other job
Thanks for the video.
I don’t know why stihl doesn’t have a speed feed head like this. I’ll be putting an echo speed feed head on my stihl trimmer. Thanks for the video.
Thanks man, helped out alot!!!
Strange, I have the same everything, and I ABSOLUTELY need to use that spacer! It does NOT tighten without it.
about the bump head where the spring pushes thur. i had same problem with that. what i did was i would hot glue a metal washer inside and it makes it last ALOT longer. also with the spacer while not really needed all the time. if it feels lose and spacer is to big. grind it down some.
Damn good advice...and thanks alot!!!
I have a Stihl speed feed trimmer head on my Stihl fs56 RC string trimmer It works great for what I'm doing
the autocut 25-2 is a really good head but that speed feed life is where its at great video!!!!!
I have Echo trimmers and those speed loaders have been flawless. Good video
I replace on average 1 bump head per trimmer a year and that's all that has happened.
Wow.. just subbed because you’re using employees and not sub c’s. Too many small businesses think it’s a good long term strategy.
Hey cool video man! I was wondering if this also would work with a Shakespeare easy wind bump head but for some reason when I installed it on my straight shaft Troy Bilt trimmer when I bump the head to get more string it doesn't wind the string out to bring out string instead it winds the string inside so do you this I put it counterclockwise or what? Please help Brian! Thanks
I added a small bolt to the centre of the Echo Speed Feed bump head in-order to reduce wear it has lasted 2 seasons without replacement. A small bolt 3/16" thick bolt head added to the trimmer head has not unbalanced it and permits bumping on paved surfaces without wear
I have wanted to switch the head out for a while, I watched your video, went to the shop and had the head on with in an hour. Great video.
Great man, I hope you like it.
Question top notch lawn care does the speedfeed will fit on fs91r stihl trimmer ??
I need one... once I get a trimmer :)
The Stihl auto speed feed trimmer head fits all Stihl trimmers
This video is awesome. Thanks 🙏
👍👍
Sweet that a pretty good idea
The black one is for a straight shot the white one is for a curved shaft
I just got one of these today for my Ryobi. Can't wait to try it out.
Did you get it installed ok
@@SrMarcoMc Yes I did. Just had to swap out the threaded adapter in the head. 🙂
Awesome video man! Thanks!
👍🏻👍🏻
I switched to Echo speed feed. still having the same problem as previous
brands. i use a Honda straight shaft four stroke string trimmer. after filling the
spool and like 10-15 minutes in it stops advance string because the
string has melted to itself and have to go to bench vise and bang the
clips and unclog the spool and bang the head back on. i have neuropothy
in hands so not the easiest clips to push in and separate the pieces and
a real hard squeeze to get back together. switched string brands
numerous times. latest is .095 Vortex. I've used echo, shindawa, stihl
and cheap junk. they all melt and weld on and won't advance. I even
spray a shot of white lithium grease in the string holes, which
definitely helps but doesn't stop the problem completely. I use the
trimmer upright to cut an edge between grass and 200" of formed concrete
curbng around my house and the grass is floratam (st. Augustine) and
tough. Nothing can take it. Ever have this problem?
I have the same problem so I hope someone can answer this???
Thank you
I’m partial to the 450 head but they both run fine.
Send that rain East we need some. Great Video! Hope you get caught up before the holiday weekend. Love the speed feed head thanks for the demo.
I pull gladly do it if I could. It won't stop here. I've got to mow 11/2 days this week.
It wears out faster if you bounce it on cement, try grass always...
Thanks for the video, ordering some of these boogers!
Awesome video I finally stopped to watch videos on these to see what all the hype is about. I don’t like that they are a tad bulky compared to my husqvarna 123l but they look awesome. Does it seam to spin smoothly?
Speed feed is the best.
Brilliant cheers. Will try and see how durable they are compared to my Stihl Auto cut.
@@scsherman207 since that message 3 years ago, Stihl came out with a similar head like the Echo, where you feed and pull through without pulling it apart. I have very rough terrain, lots of rocks and other stuff and this first Stihl auto cut with the similar system as the Echo has lasted well over a year. So, I am very happy with that.
you made it look easy
It is Mario. Haha. Trust me, if I can do it everybody can.
hey Brian, you like that 100RX better than a 110? just curious, I've seen the RX at my local dealer but haven't heard much about them
The Stihl is a LH left hand thread. That requires the use of the black core with the green bushing. NOT the white core which is for RH right hand thread.
Will this Echo speed feed head work on my Stihl fs75 curved shaft weed trimmer?
Hey, it's top notch 5 years younger :D
Great Video mate I love my Speed Feed
I wonder how I got along with out it. Haha
Thanks for the video but mine keeps sucking line back into head when I crank mine. Any suggestions.
Great vid B
Nice educational video for others
Thanks buddy.
you should really try and put that spacer on it. it helps prevent weeds from wrapping around the head.
i had to use the spacer on my stihl. but his is different gearbox
THAT BANG ON THE GROUND SHIT WENT OUT WITH THE DINOSAUR.
Did that head throw it off balance
I prefer the original head and it ain't nothing to string one of them, and they work fine to me!
Daniel Martin you are an idiot
How do I take the echo off
What size line do you use?
When do you have time to work at your second job ?
Got one for my redmax. No more stress! Lmao. I also just got a stehl elctric start backpack blower thats awsome if you have gabby customers!
What model Stihl battery backpack blower did you buy ? How much was it ? Wondering on runtime on basic grass and leaf clean up
You might want to mention that you turn that head CLOCKWISE to get it off. I know you showed it in the video but people need more than that these days. Not a lot of bright individuals in this trade. Bravo to you for trying to get legit. You should tell everyone how much you have to pay into workers comp each year for each employee in addition to the taxes you have to pay for each. You gotta be busier than a rooster in a hen house to be able to afford all that. That speed loader is the shit. I run it on both my Echoes.
What size or brand do ya like for that speed head
By the way Brian, your suppose to use the spacer lol, at least I did ha :)
I got to get me one of those head jobs ! Oops that did not sound right ! Lol
Where do I get that green bolt and the white thing at is it already in the head of the stock one or what
Brian what is the bigest lawn you have that you mow top notch Q & A
Mason Hilliard 1000 acres
I have the speed feeder for my echo weed eater and its sooo much easier that taking the original head apart and adding string, i love it, Im looking to upgrade to stihl.
That pos head is one reason I don’t use echo plus the sthil has more grunt
2 questions on speed feed head: Does inner spool show R or L facing you? And are you turning the thin top knob with knurling clockwise or counterclockwise?
Noypi54494 ANSWER THE QUESTION!
@@plugger4945
Found the answer myself. Depends on your model. But my honda 4 stroke speed feed ribbed bezel is turned clockwise when looking away from motor and counter- clockwise when looking torwards motor and inner spool on mine reads L when seated properly.
Brian I got the same Weedeater and same speed head but I can keep the damn string in it I got to be doing something wrong man
What trimmer rack is that in the garage?
Bumping it on concrete will surely wear out the center quickly...
👍👍👍👍
how long you been getti,g grass?? keeping guard on lol
What size do I get for the sthil fs110r shindaiwa speed feed
I have a straight Stihl 224L and can't find a speed feed head....any suggestions?
I put this on my stihl and I use .095 string and it goes through string way to fast , sometimes on one yard. When it was on my echo it never did that. Any tips? Maybe thicker string ? Not sure why it is going through so fast.
Brother I use 95 also and dont have this problem. Are you putting enough string on the head? I have a 6 foot spread on my arms and I pull out three of those and all of it fits on the head.
I did they same thing to my weed eater but now the speed feed head broke and I cant get it off?
Does this void your warranty
Stihl Straight Shaft uses the BLACK Left hand CORE "not" the white Right hand core !!!! Read the directions!!!!
