This is about to be a 50k$ evo 😂. I've never seen anybody put so much heart and hard work on top of an enormous amount of effort. You a damn legend man. Your the definition of what it means to be a car guy.
This man almost made a exit to his stomach & still worked, legend 😂
Yeah I woulda took a break right there
ruclips.net/video/Z13-gBxbIaM/видео.html
And that's why you don't use the on lock LOL
I have personally done scary shit like this and I take like 2 seconds and then full chooch ahead! Can’t stop the grind 💪
Details like this is why I love your channel...no other channel does this type of in depth do-it yourself stuff.. Keep up the Awesome work Devin!
Sarah-n-Tuned YT channel is a lot like this one. She also does stuff like this and is extremely hot as well. Which is a plus, lol!!
Devin: “ There has to be a stopping point”
Also Devin: * A Day later* “Everything has to be perfect!”
😆😆🤙🏻
Use phosphoric acid on the rust. Wirewheel everything, then use Ospho or Klean Strip concrete & metal prep. They work great. It neutralizes the rust so it doesn't spread. Then paint over it with a epoxy primer then finally raptor liner it. That's what I found works great. 👍🏽
Even dtm works
^THIS!!!! I saw a video on Obsessed Garage and he used Ospho on his exhaust and he was dumbfounded at how well it worked. He got the idea from the Dryce Man who does dry ice restoration on cars.
Some cheap toilet cleaners contain a decent amount of phosphoric and easy to get
The "tar like coating" is an undercoating used on tanks to prevent rust but also it stops rocks from denting, chipping or puncturing the surface causing leaks. removing that and used a hard coating like ceramic isn't the best option as it will chip off if it has an impact from rocks or road debris.
I will have to keep putting this down here....Scotch-Brite Roloc Surface Conditioning Discs. Get a pack and give them a try, you will love them if you try them. Would have been great for the fuel tank prep. No metal in them so no sparks like your wire wheel was doing.
glad your not to damaged Devin ,my dad almost cut half his hand off about 10 years ago cutting through a stone block he didnt realize that it had a steel reinforcment bar running through it kicked back ,,he says always wear some leather safety gloves when using those things AND GLASSES
That raptor stuff seems to the real deal. No more worries about rust. This evo is getting the full treatment
Shining that tank up, i would get an air 90° sander with the green plastic gasket remover pad on it, with all the little nubs. Work like a charm, i use those things when im patching a tire also, it scuffs up the inside of the tire around the hole just right to lay a patch down.
I did the same thing with a thick sweater on with a polish machine. Got me three times right in the ribs and cracked it. Looks like yours has an overload dead switch or something. You got super lucky👍👍
Hey bro another great option is POR-15 for things you can't bake and powder coat. We use that up here in Canada and its great . It dries with a great shine too that looks like clearcoat was applied
The fuel tank is PERFECT 👌........ More hours, perfectly executed job...... GOOD WORK DEVIN 🇰🇪 🇰🇪
Dry ice would have made taking off the gas tank coating easy. Once it is cold, it will chunk off easily.
At first I thought you were nuts for wanting to strip down and coat the fuel tank, but as I watched the progress and saw it finished, I realized that you knew exactly what you were doing. Very impressive and it turned out better than new👍( hope you didn't grind through any spot welds for the internal fuel baffles )
My Dad always said "A Job worth doing is worth doing right " .Nice Job on the Gas tank it looks great.
You can make it (Raptor flatter, look into the instructions as to the mix,) 2 ways turn up the psi or add reducer! You could also lightly sand, for thos who want OTT and finish with a std black paint and finish.
Also why didn’t you use some Pryme wheel kits on the fuel tank esp the top section, would have been so much quicker safer and easier,.
Came out good though,, I don’t mind the rougher look on the tank it will absorb and deflect road rubbish better and protect the tank better. good work, turned out great, imo def worth the extra effort, it’s these details that make the build, it was needed imo, great work. 🤙
I got one side of my rear done. Happy!
Love the Fozzy love at 5:26 🤘🏼
Crazy how you do everything yourself man. I can imagine if you sell the Evo, definitely gonna be a high price. Talented bro.
Devin to rescue with the upload
Saved my boredom, thanks pal know I'll enjoy🙌glad that thing didn't hurt you badly
ruclips.net/video/Z13-gBxbIaM/видео.html
Devin those parts turned out SO WELL👌🏻, however what A TON OF WORK😱😳.
Not gonna lie I did the same thing with my grinder. Pay attention peeps this shows why shops charge so much to do things like this. Takes a lot of time to do things right. Nice vid and thanks for the share.
Love the effort and love you are giving this car. Everything down to a tee. Really says a lot about someone when they put this much effort into something this "small".
The attention to detail is just awesome I could watch these videos all day
If you use dry ice, you can chip that tar off the tank super easy. I think they called that coating z-bart or something back in the day.
Dang! Putting in work… might be 1 of my favorite videos you’ve done in recent weeks. Going above & beyond. Love this channel.
Raptor liner is the shnizzles. Looks great
man i get so nervous using angle grinders and cut off wheels. I had a cut off wheel explode. it started jumping while I was cutting and before I could pull away is exploded. Thankfully I was wearing thick gloves and eyewear. after that ive been manually using hacksaws to cut my metals. 🤣🤣🤣
love the way it came out. I planned on doing this to my evo's tank as well. raptor liner will protect it from road debris.
Real life example of how sturdy the VASYN merch is.
That is some scary shit, glad you came out so well! I had a 9 inch grinder do that, I was lucky too, had leathers on.
The level of 'she build' is rising fast!!! Allready thinking about the black EVO waiting. EVO next level!
The only issue you might run into later is grounding on the tank, if the studs are painted it might not get good grounds on everything you put back in tank so remember that when you finally start the car if stuff aent working.
Your one strong man, Glad it was nothing too serious, keep going and working hard as always!
Right up my street these kind of details, looks great man...lucky Evo! 😁👊
You gotta raptor line the bottom of the car and wheel wells. You can tint raptor liner too to match the color of the car
Glad your two boys are Ok. 👍
Glad you didn’t gut your self my guy.
Love what you been doing always progressing . Would love to see you diy a powder coating oven. Would be a really awesome video to see . Keep on keepin on . From Canada .
Devin you gotta be more careful with those grinders we don’t wanna have anything bad happened to you bro please be careful next time
I just saw from B is for Build, that dry ice takes off the rubberized coatings. Once frozen you just flake it off. Idk sounds like a good idea
I got that same wire wheel kick back at my hand once prepping some metal for welding and yeah. Not fun getting skin scraped off with that thing lol
Shoulda got Cameron to do his thing and clean up the casting marks and stuff haha love watching both of your videos because his bikes and your cars so best of both
Holy shit Devin! Glad you're alright man..
Tank looks amazing! , great work as always .
I have had that happen to me with a grinder before. I ended up buying gloves for that reason. Tank came out clean af though
Everyone should drop a like for the dedication from Devon on something you just won’t see.
For this amount of work put in the hyper blue Evo, she is definitely a keeper car
this is definitely the best Evo restoration video for me, Id love to do this to mine especially now with with the lockdowns here in Au. Devin if you see this please help me source a set of USDM tail lights for my evo!
Big thumbs up Devin! The fuel tank is primo my guy. You are certifiable
Your the Man D! All the extra effort makes the project all worth it.
Wish my wife would let me get a project cause you have inspired me Devin!
Keep on pumping these videos out bro! Can you send any T-shirts to little old New Zealand?
Nice job on the gastank, but next time wenn you are in the store buy yourself a nice overall suite/mechanic suite (don't know how you guys call it) or make one with the Vasyn logo on it, just a suggestion, peace out 🤟
One thing is fosure. Vasyn apparel is deff worth buying. Not like it wasn’t before but after that shit. We can all trust the shirts to save your life. No doubt 😂
It’s amazing the work you put into your car bro, like you make sure every little nut and bolt is fucking mint on that thing! I wouldn’t have the patience like you do full sned brother 🦾🤘🏽
The man of all trades .. but your just like me with that ocd.. a one week project turns into a month project because you can't leave anything crusty once you see it. Even though noone will ever see it when it's bolted back on. You know it's there. I got the same problem broski
Bro this weird as restoration shit is my jam and my jelly. I do this with my 2012 STI every now and again.
I definitely would waste 20 hours to make it look that good, great job bro. Cheap spray booth is a portable garage tent.😎👍💯🎉🎊🎉🎊
I had a wire wheel grab my shirt a few months back haha, been tucking my shirt ever since.
Yo Devin! Any problems with your varis bumper cracking in the winter? Im debating if I’m gonna winter drive mine…
Love this resto project
it looks really good and really worth your time!
Thats a lot of work, parts looking awesome now though!
This evo is starting to be a sema build now
I’m really likin the daily uploads Devin! You’re channel’s gonna blow up with how hard you work man, keep up the dedication man. Love love love the vids!❤️
Sema build hyper blue evo8 it’s gonna be one fresh evo wen it’s fully completed
Devin i have an idea for you. Choose one of your ripper cars and install some diy(or not i cant tell you what to do) brake vents front and rears.
You need to be more careful bud.
Even if it means slowing the build down a bit.
Can we get an F in the chat seeing that today was my moms funeral...Rip mom😢🙏 love you devin for keeping my mental health in tact ♥️
Sorry for your loss mate
@@soccer1404 thanks bro
Unbelievable content Devin! Glad you didn’t kill yourself. Love the videos 👌
Don't feel too bad I've wrapped wire wheels up in my shirt exactly like you did more times than I can count 🤣
Question...... don't you get petrol fumes in the car without a fuel tank gasket???
Heart skipped a beat. Be safe dude
I have done the exact same thing with a wire wheel while working on my 1gb laser 🤣
love it, even tho you cant see it. you know its perfect!
Sheeeesh ! It’s coming together nicely
Devin what did you do to fix that stud on the tank hanger?
Looks like you sprayed where the seals seat but can't tell properly, that's going to leak if you did.
They do make a powder that's a "cast aluminum"
Would be way way cheaper too, since cerakote is so expensive.
You shoulda shaved those casting lines on the control arms with ur bros Pryme buffing pads!
Damn man that’s crazy! Looks mint OEM you truly are a king 👑
Vasyn safety apparel for the win😂
Dodged a bullet there man glad you ok
Devin back with another vid
I knew you would end up fully doing that tank haha. Its just who you are dev
dang you always nailed it man... what a nice look🔥
Yeah those things can be effing dangerous !
This man DOES WORK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Devin Spec!
Why did you spray the mating surfaces on the fuel tank 😬😬😬
You should do something with the trunk of the car
My buddy did that right in front of me except he did it with a cutoff wheel, that one a sketchy scene.
1 word.....dedication
A great video as usual. Keep up the good woork
Devin has the best content
You should rhino line the gas tank make it nice and clean and sound dampened and tough from rocks. Well oops I commented to early you are doing it . Hahaha
Worried about the gasket area and the rough paint causing leaks........
Bro be careful haha looks great best gas tank iv seen!
Awesome work man
Devin that is like the third time you’ve almost seriously injured yourself in the last few days hahah, please be more careful 🙏🏼
Had that happen before but with a drill bit even hit a tad where the manhood is I quit as soon that happened for the day
I’m just wondering, is the front of the car have a jack stand under the front of your car, scared it’s gonna go ass end over
How expensive is a powder coat oven??
