Hello guys and welcome back to ROTAQ which means Reviews of Technology & Query, This is Pratool Dubey and today I am going to compare TVS Jupiter Jupiter 125 with Honda Activa 125.
TVS introduced the new Jupiter 125 a few weeks ago and the scooter directly locks its horns with rivals like the Honda Activa 125 and the Suzuki Access 125. The Jupiter 125 gets a long list of features along with many other segment-first offerings like class-leading under-seat storage. With rivals like the Honda Activa 125, the Jupiter 125 faces stiff competition in the segment. Having said this, here is a detailed TVS Jupiter 125 vs Honda Activa 125 comparison that will be helpful for those considering buying a scooter in this segment.

TVS Jupiter 125 Vs Honda Activa 125
The new launched TVS Jupiter 125 boasts an attractive exterior design that not only looks good but in addition to also comes with attractive exterior colour shades. The fit and finish levels are one of the best in the segment and the subtle design gives it a strong road presence. Upfront, you get LED headlamps on the top while the indicator bulbs are placed below. The use of chrome gives it some upmarket look.

The Honda Activa 125 on the other hand gets slightly better styling. The use of chrome elements at the front as well as the sides gel in well with dark colour shades while the scooter does come with LED headlamps. The wind visor at the front gets a sharp design and in all, the Activa 125 looks better than the Jupiter 125 but many may appreciate Jupiter's subtle design. The rear design of the Honda Activa 125 however looks better and slightly more premium than Jupiter 125.
Features
In addition to the LED headlamps and diamond-cut alloy wheels, the TVS Jupiter 125 also gets many other features that make it a strong contender in the segment. To start with, the scooter gets an advanced digital speedometer, all-in-one lock, mobile charger, side stand indicator, side stand start inhibitor and sync braking technology. Having said this, the Jupiter 125 also offers segment-leading under-seat storage space along with a spacious 2L glove box that makes it an extremely practical scooter for many buyers.
For starters, the Honda Activa 125 gets a silent start feature along with many other features like an idling start-stop system and a digital MID. The digital MID screen displays advanced information like distance to empty, real-time mileage and average mileage. Apart from this, the Honda Activa 125 also comes with a multi-function unit along with a double lid external fuel fill. Just like the Jupiter 125, the Honda Activa 125 too gets a front glove box and a pass switch.
Powering the Jupiter 125 is a 124.8 cc single-cylinder motor that churns out 8.15 ps while the peak torque output stands at 10.5 Nm. Just like all other rivals, the TVS Jupiter 125 too offers a CVT automatic gearbox. The performance is impressive and the riders would definitely appreciate the refinement of this motor. The fuel economy too is great and impressive for a scooter of this class.
The Activa 125 gets a 124 cc single-cylinder motor. This motor delivers a peak power output of 8.29 ps while the maximum torque delivered by this motor stands at 10.3 Nm. The CVT automatic gearbox is well-tuned and the performance inside the city is one of the best in the city. Long-term reliability is great and the buyers of the Honda Activa 125 will definitely appreciate the overall experience. Fuel efficiency too is comparable to the TVS Jupiter 125.

The newly launched TVS Jupiter 125 gets a starting price tag of INR 73,400 (ex-showroom, Delhi) while the Honda Activa 125 on the other hand gets a starting price tag of INR 73,203 (ex-showroom, Delhi). Both these scooters offer a VFM price tag.

I have both the vehicle. Major difference is their engine performance. Activa is much better in initial pickup. Built-up quality is also good in Activa. Jupiter is good if we look features beyond engine performance. Mileage is very good in Jupiter because of low pickup. But once it runs in highway, performance is very good

Just because of engine refinement i purchased Activa 125 .... otherwise i would pick Jupiter...but durability matter in long term rather than features...and also resale value of Honda scooter has more than other brands... Anyhow maintenance cost is low in Activa..so i pick it ..2023 E20 model disc variant...and i have no issues

Thank you very much bhai, i followed you and brought TVS Jupiter 125 matted disk varient that cost me Rs. 1.002 L on road price. Still i ride about 200Km and really it is jayda se vi jayada model. Huge sitting place, front storage is also big enough and water does not enter in normal standing condition, smooth ride, not hectic job during refilling, sound is smoothing, mileage on mixed city cum highways is 54kmpl, foot space and ground clearance is satisfied, breaking is awesome. Negative points are take little more time to increase speed during over take, right gear handle is little loose, some light rattle sound comes from front side at high speed, handles little vibrating, head light performance is average at night.
And at last, thank you lots for helping me to make decision for selecting this scooter. Wishing you happy christmass and Happy new year in advance.

Seriously, who's gonna buy a 2-year-old scooter 🤨. I don't like to buy old things😒. Honda only launched a new colour variant and nothing else. WHEN THE HELL Honda's gonna upgrade its scooters?🙄 Look at TVS, they brought a brand new scooter with much better specs 😍 than Honda's darling Activa 125.
I would go for Jupiter 125 and ditch Activa bactiva sactiva for it. I know Honda is reliable but they should prove to the customers if they proclaim themselves in that way.

Honda Sales are purely backed by brand name but their products are not so great. On the other hand TVS has come a long way and they are really listening to the customer feedback. Go for TVS Jupiter125 with out having a second thought.

I currently own an Activa 125 and have ridden it for about an Year on hilly terrains for about 5000 kms. I am thinking of getting another 125cc scooter and read the specs of Jupiter 125 but still feel Activa 125 to be preferrable because of the reliability and metal body. Here is the detailed comparison of most of the points based on my experience:
1. Brand: Honda is a better trusted brand in India than TVS
2. Service: If you feel the after service of Honda is great then you are wrong. I have completed 3 services of Activa and I would rate the Honda Service at Kanchan Honda in Saki Naka Mumbai at 2/5. After sales service in scooters is a big gimmick in India and I know all the brands just fail.
3. Body: A full metal body is anytime better for hard impact accidents. I had a big dent on the front and it was repaired and repainted to look new for about 1000 rs. You have to replace a fibre body as it will break. Jupiter has metal in some parts and not complete metal.
4. Braking: I feel braking is a segment where Activa 125 is way behind. I have tested the braking of Access 125 and it was great. I have the disk brake version of Activa 125 and it is a big dissappointment.
5. Fuel Efficiency: Almost all the leading scooters in the segment deliver the same average. A difference of 3-5 kms should not be a big factor in 125 cc utility scooter segment. Average should not be the deciding factor to pick one over the other.
Jupiter is very feature rich and if the same scooter was launched by Suzuki or Honda with a full metal body, I would have gone for it. If you've had a good experience with TVS and the fibre body doesn't matter much to you, do go for Jupiter 125.

12 Features better than Activa 6G / 125 in TVS Jupiter 125:
Jupiter 125 features.
1. Double underseat storage (Boot space) than activa. 33 liter.
2. Front fuel filling. No need to ask your pillion lady to get down while fuel filling.
3. All in one lock (5 functions) with single main key to open Fuel lid, Storage under Seat, On, Off and Lock
4. Long spacious seat.
5. Gas filled rear shock absorber. Drove 60km non stop, no back pain.
6. Finger type brake lock.
7. EZ Center stand they call it (Patented). Less effort required to put it on Center stand.
8. 2 trip meters
9. Longer foot board.
10. Good footrest for pillion:
Shame on Honda. It launched 3g 4g 5g 6g still this problem not solved. When my friend comes with an Activa and I sit back, I cannot remove the footrest by leg. I have to ask him to stop and then remove footrest by hand. Jupiter 125 don't have this problem even with accessories (extra fitting) installed.
11. USB charging port at front.
12. Light reflector in Pillion Handle.
After service is also not that good in TVS. I have to call multiple times and wait for technician entire day if my scooter not starting.
Purchased in November 2021.
2 problem I faced.
2nd month: Lock failed. Stuck in Off position. Key not turning to ON position (technician came to home, picked up scooter and replaced under warranty).
8th month: Was suddenly getting Off while running in middle of road in medium rain. Escaped death. Gave to service center. They said some wiring damaged by rats. Not covered in warranty. Fixed wiring for Rs. 400. Service guys did not show me rat bitten wires when I asked. I doubt that was some loose fitting of cables before I purchased this scooter. Later I drove in heavy rain, no problem. Overall still best scooter worth owning.
I'm getting 46kmpl in city. Mileage calculation best method (Tank to tank method / Athar method):
1. Take 1 liter petrol in bottle.
Keep it in underseat storage.
2. Drive until tank is empty / no fuel.
3. Once tank empty, set trip meter to Zero.
4. Take out that 1 liter petrol bottle you stored in underseat storage and pour it in tank.
5. Go to petrol pump and pour 4 liter in tank. Now tank is full (5 liters).
6. (optional) If you wish to check mileage again then fill and keep petrol in that 1 liter bottle.
7. Now drive it on daily basis and once tank is fully empty, check the trip meter reading and you can calculate mileage.
For example: For 5 liter, my scooty ran 225 km in city as shown in Trip meter. Now divide 225km by 5 liters = 45km. 45km per liter is the Mileage.
Avoid 100ml, 500ml or 1 liter quantity for mileage test. The above Athar method is best.
Also, don't believe the mileage shown in meter, it is just approximate and not accurate.
@PepperIt's ok but don't try starting scooter many times when tank is empty. Immediately pour petrol from a bottle. Wait for 30sec and start scooter.
