I have always loved this song. I am 45 years old & have been cranking this song every time I ' m alone. ( Because no one I know can stand it that loud. ) I especially like the all music part at the end. That's the part I use to test any sound system or speakers I have.I can make my home c/d player skip with this part of this song. AWESOME SONG !!! I hope I can hear music like this forever,even in the afterlife. THANKS SO MUCH DEEP PURPLE. Fan for life.

Saw this performed at the Spectrum in Philly a couple times back the 80's...what an amazing performance with Jon rocking his organ as he played it...still gives me goose bumps to hear it! RIP Jon Lord

I heard this song 20 years ago but never knew who wrote or sang it and came across it recently, Once hearing it again understood why i liked it so much , "' precious life, your tears are lost in falling rain"', Some of the best lyrics of a song that have ever been written in my opinion.

Jon Lord at his very best. The keyboards in DP added a texture, depth and guts that other bands never came close to.
The only thing that is like it is something like Widor's Toccata (another badass keyboard sound!)
It's a raven. I love ravens. They are extremely intelligent, almost human and the line 'If you see me talking on the wind you've got to understand we must remain perfect strangers.." is exactly what a raven would say to you. As much as he understands us his freedom and his will to survive outweighs his desire to be friends with us. I don't know I think too much. It's one of my favorite songs and animals rolled into one

Yeah man, all the images go really well with the music. Whenever i listen to this song this is the video i go to. I only have the single version in my music library, it cuts out most the sweetest part of the song where it goes into that awesome rolling palm-mute section.

haha. Good stuff, man. Shane Douglas has used this theme well over 20 years now and still uses it till this day. Most people give Wrestling no credit for the main stream magnitude a lot of these songs get, but I am glad you are one of the users who actually recognized it in their description box. I heard this song from outside in stl. couldn't get a ticket, literally the whole building was shaking,it was awesome even wishin I was inside to hear it. When it went in to the grinding guitar part everybody was dancin on the sidewalk !! lol it was cool.
