tk is def not math rock, hes more like progressive/alternative/post rock maybe even experimental. Him and co shu nie basically have their own kinda genre that i haven't heard from anyone else. he's still amazing just not math rock-- that's a totally different genre
I like it when I stumble over people who think the same. 😅 There are so many drummers (in genres like that) who think that speed and technique are everything you need. Which often results in totally emotionally flatlined drumming. Which ultimately is boring. He's one of those who realize that he needs put in the extra effort, because of the ENTERTAINMENT factor. And yes, playing at that speed with BIG movements and all of the other elements of his "drum ballet" IS extra effort. He could have that easier.
