In case you can't tell with the title of this video... I LOVE this car! It's just, no one seems to talk about the little things, where it doesn't shine... and THAT'S what this video is about. I'm not throwing shade. It's just, here's where it could get better. The video where I talk about what I love will be MUCH longer! It’s refreshing to see such an honest & frank assessment like this in a social media world infested with nothing but fanatic fanboys or spiteful haters
Thanks for saying that. I appreciate your comment. A lot of people are taking the video the wrong way, thinking I don't like the car. I think it's great! I've been gushing about it in past videos but there are annoying things about it too. I haven't seen anyone talk about a lot of this stuff so thought I would bring it to light and see if anyone else agrees and a lot of comments agree!
You can just turn off the light strip if it bothers you. I switched the wheel to a yoke and it is much more comfortable. Never had an issue with wifi or bluetooth. Spotify resumes music, never used RUclips music. And yes the cup holders do suck.
It's not the light strip itself, it's the reflection on the top of it! I'll do a future update on these points... see if I get used to it. That's interesting about the yoke. Are they hard to install? Can you do it yourself? Interesting about Spotify... I always liked Spotify better but getting ad-free RUclips PLUS RUclips music for the same price as Spotify is just too hard to pass up (since I'm a RUclipsr). Glad I'm not alone about the cupholders 👊🤣
@@TheSAHDLife it took me about 35 minutes to install the yolk myself. Not too bad, but the bottom of the yolk is nice and wide, and so I can just rest my arm on my thigh and keep it on the bottom of the yolk. I find it much more comfortable because I commute a lot. I also prefer the unobstructed airflow from the air conditioning that the yolk provides.
@Davidtheinfidel great points and I can totally relate to the resting the arms on the thighs. I'll look into it! Replacing the wheel seems a little scary but maybe it's not that bad.
@@ric12-o2k Good question. #1 it didn't qualify for as many rebates in my province and we really wanted to get the full $9,000 in rebates. and #2 the refresh is about to come out. I really didn't want to buy an outdated design which would potentially make the resale much harder. When these new Y's come out which is soon, oh boy that will be tempting for sure :)
@@ryuhayabusa3540 We do not but electricity is quite cheap where we live which helps keeps our fuel costs down. 1200 miles has cost us about $25 USD... or 2,000kms for $35 CAD. That's about 1/10th of what it cost in our ICE vehicle!
When you want to clean the wipers and windscreen, put the wipers into service mode. It disconnects the arms so you can put them in whatever position you want as you clean the window and the wiper rubbers.
3:58 you can set the Wipers into "Service Mode" (Under "Service" in car menu)...it will position the wipers slightly higher so you can raise it to clean/replace blades. Auto-wipers are not great because it does not have a rain sensor that other cars use; it uses its camera...TBF it has improved but still not very good (not even close) compared with a car that has dedicated rain sensor. 6:55 there's a "Joe mode" that lessens the volume of the alerts...still quite annoying but the loudness of the alerts is not as obnoxious.
Great tips! Really appreciate it. Very interesting about the camera instead of sensors. At least the wipers work well as far as the blades themselves... I will be curious to see if they make future changes if they will be noticeable or not. Have you had a Tesla for awhile? Do they make significant updates regularly (like at least once a year)? I have zero expectations but have seen some buzz around holiday updates.
@@TheSAHDLife I'm fairly new to Tesla (Model Y) as well...but I've had friends who have had Teslas for a few years now and they say that Tesla continuously updates and improves the car...I was coming from a Mustang Mach-E (which i didn't hate, but i was lukewarm at best)...The Model Y is not perfect by any stretch of imagination...but IMO as an overall package it's a better car than the Mach-E.
Fellow M3H owner here, 6'7" and also unable to be comfortable with the limited range of the steering wheel. And OMG the ginormous turning radius. Surprised you didn't mention the turn signal buttons. I live in an area where there are 4-way intersections and roundabouts outnumber lights 10:1. The buttons are horrible
I did NOT expect the turning radius to be so bad 🤣 and I'm glad to hear I'm not alone when it comes to the steering wheel range... I'm still fine for short drives... we haven't done a long drive yet so we'll see how that goes. I mentioned the buttons at the end of the video. They are fine for everyday driving but yeah, atrocious for roundabouts and in parking lots when you need to let someone know what you're doing mid turn. Very weird choice. Are you happy overall though or have regrets?
2:19 the steering wheel not being leather is the best part. It's a great material and so much better than any leather wheel. But I agree 100% on the lack of woah fuck handles. It's almost like the engineers are leaving them off the car out of spite, because we ask for them so incessantly.
Interesting take! What do you like better about the material? For me it's slippery. And yeah the handles missing, I guess it could take away from the design? A lot of other cars have removed them as well but... that's one thing I always value in a car, I don't know why!
@@TheSAHDLife First I think leather is tacky and dated. Animal skin? No thanks. I don't own anything leather in my home or otherwise. But the material they use has great feel and great tack. I don't get the "slippery" vibe at all. Regarding the "Woah..." handles - I can't think of a car that doesn't have them. The Accord has them, my wife's '22 Porsche Macan has them. (and regarding the leather on that Macan - she is miffed because the Macan EV was supposed to have Pepito interior option which is the nylon houndstooth (the race nylon used not heir track cars). They didn't make it an option. ) On a car with the pull of the Tesla, the "woah..." handles are almost required.
@@Station2Station-du2gh Yeah fair enough about leather. I respect that. I don't personally like the feel of it but do like the fact it isn't an animal product. Someone on Reddit said this about the handles: TLDR: Designers focus on a lower roof line for aerodynamics. Adding a handle increases the height of the roofline. Why? Because there are strict regulations on how close hard materials can be near the head. Handles must be well above the head. I don't know if it's completely true or not but I am convinced in my testing vehicles over the last few months I noticed some were missing though I couldn't say which. I definitely prefer 'em anyway.
That was my impression, too. Sometimes I think most of the Tesla owners are like iPhone owners, never say anything bad against either Tesla or Apple. By the way, I own some Apple products and got the impression that they stopped innovating a long time ago. Tesla seems to have learned from VW and copied some of the same bad decisions, removing the spare, having a bad auto whipper system ... , hope this changes again and I hope same for VW ;).
@@cmdrstevemcmaru7417it all depends on the user. Some of the things he dislikes doesn’t bother me. So just depends. Good thing it’s easy to test drive one before you buy.
Just found your channel really enjoy your passion. I’ve had a Tesla now for two years and have 71,000 miles on it and honestly, the things that you were nitpicking about are small little things in the grand scheme of things. One thing to remember, is that these cars are actually made with the thought of being autonomous in the future. So things like the steering wheel texture, seat position, and things that require somebody to be in a certain position to drive are actually important in a way, but not important in other ways. Here are my thoughts on your video. I am not trying to nitpick your thoughts, but I did want to make some comments on them if that’s OK…. 1) Holy Sheet Handles - they are definitely something that would be a help for a lower car, however, Tesla is not the only car that doesn’t have them. I understand you were driving an SUV for a while before this. There are several cars that do not have these handles for whatever reason. The one thing to remember about Tesla is they try to eliminate parts and make that cabinet look as uncluttered as possible and I’m sure this had to go into the design when they were making these cars. 2) Driving Position - I’ve never had issues with this as there were so many ways to adjust that seat. This is going to depend on so many factors like how long somebody’s legs are compared to their torso, etc.. I’m sure there is a lot of reasons why it’s not easy to get comfortable for some people. I am a pretty large person and I actually have no problem in this car whatsoever. 3) Steering Wheel Material - i’ve had a leather steering wheel in my Acura and I totally get that. This is not the same quality as a leather wheel. But the entire car is made out of vegan leather, not real leather and I’m assuming that’s what they want the wheel to be like as well. The only issue I’ve had with the wheel is that on the left-hand side behind the wheel the material seems to be loose after a long time. Not anything horrible but it is there as the material is sort of stretched on as far as it being smoother. It’s just something you get used to. 5) Spare - most EV’s and a lot of other cars these days just don’t come with spares anymore. If you feel that a spare is important the best thing to do is get something called the “modern spare “which is a little spare tire and a bag that you could put in the car as you need it for extremely long road trips. As I mentioned, I’ve been across the country three times through lots of places where there has been nothing going on. I’ve never had any issues and the flat tires I have had locally. I’ve just repaired locally without any problem not to say something can’t happen and of course, because the two vulnerable things on a long trip is your tires and your windshield. Speaking of windshields I’ve had my crack because of truck debris and I brought it into the Dallas Tesla center, and they fixed it within two hours while I was driving on a road trip across country. Thanks to Brandon at that location.! but spare tires are not really an item anymore with a lot of cars. 6) Charger - Tesla used to give you a charger at one point. The one you had to pay for. They stopped doing that and some EV car companies will give you a charger while others won’t. Buying a charger it would be just like buying a bunch of tools or something you might need for a gas car if you need one you just buy it. When I bought my Tesla, the last thing I ever wanted to do is be stuck without a way to charge the car so I bought not only the Tesla charger but the full kit of Nema adapters, including an extra one for TT 30, which is what campgrounds use. I’ve never even used these things, but I bought them for safety and they live in my sub truck. But today some people don’t need a charger and we’ll just use Superchargers all the time so I guess they figured it’s not necessary to give everybody one if they’re not gonna use it. 7) Cupholders - the cupholders are small I guess for certain people in certain drinks however, there are so many third-party devices you could stick in there to make those cupholders bigger. Personally, I don’t drink in my car except maybe a water bottle that screwed closed. 8) Wipers - first thing about the wipers… There is a wiper maintenance mode that you use when you need to get into the wipers because they do go that low. I guess you didn’t notice it… I believe it is in the service menu or somewhere in the menu but if you put it in wiper maintenance mode, the wipers will go up a little bit so you can clean them or change the blades or whatever you might need to do. As far as them going too far over to the corner, I don’t know if I’ve ever heard of that being any kind of issue. But the one thing I do know is that wiper service mode is definitely good to use as needed. 9) Auto Wipers - if you think the auto wipers suck now, you should’ve checked them out a few years ago. Remember Tesla does not like to use sensors so they are actually using the cameras to determine how fast the wipers should go based on the rainfall, which is really not a great way to do this. They do not use rain sensors in the cars. It’s gotten a lot better actually however it’s not perfect. That’s for sure and you may get a dry wipe every now and then too for some reason. And also don’t forget your wipers may wipe to clean the camera view, and it might not be obvious that there’s something there, but if there is something walking at the wipers, may choose to clean it. Hopefully, they’ll keep improving the wipers. This has been an ongoing thing at least you weren’t around back when the auto highbeams were flashing everybody that was coming down the road every two minutes they fixed that. 10) Not smart car - adding an App Store is something that has come up many times however they have not done that as of yet. I know some people like android auto and CarPlay but honestly, once you’re using everything in the car after a while, you really get used to just dealing with all the things in the car and I don’t miss those things whatsoever anymore 11) Phone connectivity - I usually don’t have this problem however, there’s one thing that you should realize if your phone doesn’t connect. It can only connect to one item that will show notifications at a time. So make sure that you don’t have anything else on your Bluetooth that might need that function. If you’re still having problems, you should bring it into service because the Bluetooth should work flawlessly. I don’t have any trouble with Bluetooth. 12) Game controllers - you did the right thing here by buying the jowua controllers! Those work great for the car. I have two of them and the last one I bought actually will charge on the iOS charging pad like a phone, which is very convenient. You don’t even need a wire it to plug it in ever. But the JOWUA ones do work! 13) Alerts - you can adjust some of the safety awards in the in the menu if they are too much, especially when stopping or leaving the lane. Personally, I like the arts because they keep me honest, but to each his own. A lot of arts you can’t turn off because these are all safety features. 14) Turning Radius - one day will all be using steer by wire and have all four wheels do the steering like the cyber truck does right now but until then I guess the turning radius is what it is.. I really haven’t noticed any issues with that but it seems fine for this type of car actually. 15) Bottoms out - I’ve never had this car bottom out, except maybe when going down someone’s driveway or something like that. And a strange that you’re having that issue that might be something to take into service unless it’s just the way you’re driving or something it shouldn’t be bothering out. I don’t have that. 16) Stalks - i’m glad you have gotten used to the stalks because that seems to be something that people really complain about way too much. I totally get that for however many years you’ve been driving there is muscle memory to be using stalks for signals, etc., but this is just the new way about it and there’s a advantage of having those buttons right under your thumb on the wheel. That’s just my comment and I didn’t mean to go nitpicking your amazing video because I really loved it if I didn’t care and love it I wouldn’t have spent time adding some comments, but I’ve been driving this car now for two years, and even with smaller issues, it’s just so minuscule compared to the amazing car that you get to drive every day and all the software updates that fix a lot of the problems you brought up. As you have the car, it will get better and better. You’ll probably be getting your first holiday update every holiday. There’s a big update with all sorts of great things and we’re expecting some things coming by December again. I’m looking forward to seeing more things on your channel. I’m glad I found it.
Hey thanks for the thorough comment. I really value you weighing on this stuff as someone who has owned the car for awhile and as some else passionate about this stuff! I agree with you and, even though this video was about nitpicking the car, I only made this video because I love it so much that I care to take the time and break down some of the things I don't like. I would be curious if there is anything I didn't talk about that YOU don't like about the car? Also, with the Jowua controllers... do you use them in Bluetooth mode or in pairing mode with the dongle? They aren't working flawlessly for me so I wonder if I am having bluetooth issues.
I took delivery of that exact model about a month ago. What bothers me the most is the integration with my smartphone (iPhone). I can’t use Siri, it doesn’t always connect to Bluetooth. My last car had wireless CarPlay and although it had software issues, the integration was soooooo much better because I had my own apps and everything on my phone. I think that Tesla needs to think about this and either create an open app store or integrate with CarPlay and Android Auto. I’d happily pay premium connectivity if they just offer the updates, but now i’ll start paying for a service that doesn’t cover all my needs. I also bottom out frequently, and my last car was not a very high rider (vw golf). The car rides low but it also has a huge weelbase, causing the bottom out just where the big battery is. I’ll get used to it, but living in a semi rural area there’re places that this car will never visit. The long wheelbase is also the cause for the big turning radius. For me these are the most annoying things. Everything else is just amazing and the more I drive it the more I like it. Enjoy!
I agree with you about the software. We DID start paying for the premium connectivity as it's just so handy. We'll see if I keep that going. And I'm glad to hear others have a lot of the same issues... good point on the long wheel base. I'm excited to do the next video though because I DO love the car and can't wait to talk about what's so great about it!
In your last video you choose PHEV…..now i see you bought tesla.what changes your decision? Curious.in Ontario.also confused what to buy! Tesla or PHEV
We had a couple more months to think about it... Since we were buying it as a second vehicle and already have a gas car, We knew we could charge it fully in the garage. We also knew if we bought a plug-in that we would probably be wanting it to be an electric mode almost all the time anyway so we figured this way we could just avoid the range anxiety of that by getting a straight up electric. Also we were able to qualify for more incentives.... Unfortunately I think Ontario has the least amount of rebates. If we were buying just one vehicle for the family then it would be a different story... But as a second car a straight up electric is a no-brainer. We've had it almost 2 months now and it's just fantastic. Not a single regret.
1) I bought a rubber cup-holder insert which makes them much better. 2) Yeah, auto-wipers are lousy (same with auto high beams). I've finally gotten used to using the scroll wheel to manually manage the wipers. 3) It took me much sleuthing, but I eventually fixed the car not always recognizing my phone. Stupid Samsung Galaxy was putting the Tesla app to sleep. Setting to never auto sleep selected apps is hidden under Battery settings, under Background Usage Limits (what?!!)
Awesome share! Thanks for responding. Especially about the phone settings. I've got a bunch of Tesla accessories on the way but which cup holder insert did you get? And I'm not sure if I saw the wiper speed available on the scroll wheel. Do you just mean the button or is the wiper speed on the hold left scroll wheel menu?
@@TheSAHDLife Actually the cup holder insert (and a center console arm rest cover) came with the DEDC mud flaps I bought for my Y/LR for $30 last year. Yes, pressing and holding the left scroll wheel pops up the wiper speed menu (I have that as the default option setting at Controls-Display-Scroll wheel function). I wish there was a Y-Invert function as I constantly scrolled it the wrong way. I finally got so I could scroll the right way to get the speed I wanted without looking at the screen. This function was added a few months ago.
Good share. I didn't even realize Routines were a thing you could do on Android phones... there's probably a whole world of things you can do with it eh? Do you use routines regularly and if so, could you share any examples of how they are helpful?
@@TheSAHDLife yes I have routine down when I'm near work on GPS to set my ringtone profile to vibrate among a few other rminor settings and then it reverts when I leave the area. There's a lot you can do but that has been the most useful for me. And after my premium connectivity trial ends, I'm using the hotspot one.
The lack of a spare wheel bugs me too. Sure I can carry a plug kit and compressor, but I'll probably look at picking up a spacesaver and compact jack. I was really surprised that there wasn't even a basic repair kit included.
I think you should just enjoy your car 👍🏻 no car is perfect. I took delivery of my refreshed M3 LR in March. No issues. It literally puts a smile on my face every time I drive it. I'm only getting Tesla. I'm 5'9 I have no problem with the seats or steering wheel. Yes it doesn't have a powered frunk but you and I knew this going in and it is fine. The pros definitely outway the cons.
Not sure if you've seen my last few videos but I definitely enjoy the car. So much that I can't stop talking about it! I just thought it would be interesting to talk about the little annoying things about it to see if others agree and learn more about the car (which I have through the comments!). I also think the pros outweigh the cons and will talk about that soon. The long range is sweet. I would have liked that one!
Hey! First off great video, have the same car and spec as my daily also in Vancouver haha. Biggest con I’ve noticed as you’ve mentioned in the video by FAR is the wipers, especially our climate where it’s light rain most the time and some heavy downpour. Most times I find myself manually using the wiper button as even the intervals are too fast most the time with road spray or light rain. In terms of scraping and bottoming out, I think it’s the mudflaps as I don’t have the on in my car and it takes going over a bump way too quick to bottom out. Try removing them and see what happens! Also not sure about your car but I’ve taken it back 6 times for vent rattle, severe steering wheel shake even after alignment and balance, camera condensation, most recently driver seat creak. The seat and wheel shake were never fixed, curious to see if it’s a one-off or your car has it as well. Best of luck and safe driving ^
Thanks for sharing! It's great to hear from other owners. That's CRAZY about the vents and everything else gone wrong. Sorry to hear that. How many kms do you have on there? We're at about 1600? Ours hasn't had anything wrong with it knock on wood and I'm pretty sensitive to sounds etc... even on day 1 I wondered if I felt steering wheel shake but it's so tiny it could just be from air drag at high speeds or something. I'm not too worried about it. I really hope we don't have those issues since our nearest dealership is hours away :( Good call about the mud flaps. It really only seems to happen when I drive over wide speed bumps at an angle. I'll try to keep it straight heh. And that's funny that you too use the wiper button WHILE the wipers are on. Another user was saying it's because they use cameras and not sensors that they don't work as well. I still enjoy the car though. You?
@@TheSAHDLife Hey! My car is at just over 16000km haha I drive quite a bit, some of the issues didn’t develop for me until later mileages so hope that doesn’t happen to you as well^ I always did enjoy the car! Albeit I have my fun toys I can take out when I want to drive stick or go faster. I don’t think I’ve managed to scrape the car ever even driving in the city and over all sorts of bumps, the car has about 5.5 inches which is far more than a normal car and there’s nothing to dangle lower such as an exhaust. Good note on the wipers, I have other cars and I always figured the Tesla was far worse even than let’s say a civic haha. And sometimes if the interval isn’t quick enough, me habitually pressing the wipers changes the speed then ends up being too fast. Having the button and scroll wheel separate is something I do really dislike with this one, though it was the same with the older model with stalk so I guess it’s just a Tesla thing oh well 🤷🏻♀️ Let’s hope they bring more changes and improvements for us!
I own this same exact car and I also hate the fact that you can't adjust your seat's headrest at all. Do they expect a 5'2" woman's head to be in the same place as a 6'2" man's? Give me back the stalk contols and an easy way to open the glove box. I actually plan to buy a spare tire and throw it in the back, the road hazards where I live are crazy.
I got a home charger with the car (Netherlands) maybe they don't give them in US. 5:20 if your calendar is not syncing. (I had this happen) Maybe you're using iPhone in then zoomed in view and you miss the calendar toggle in your app: Open Tesla app, tap the 3 lines top right, tap your name, SCROLL UP. Ahaaa THERE is that darn toggle. For the rest I agree with a lot of things you said. BTW, there is a wiper service mode. Tap: Car, Service and that you can put them in Service Mode. Still you can't lift them very far to change the blades, but easier than when they are hidden under the hood. I hate the non-resuming music/video too. Oh ja. The damn turning radius.. Annoying. I'm going to try put the collision warning from standard to late as I get crazy from this car's paranoia.
That's great you got the charger! My friends with older models got chargers with there's. I think it's just like cell phones where you don't get chargers with every phone now? I DID check the calendar sync button and nothing yet. Maybe I'll have to reboot the car or my phone. I'll let you know if it changes. And good call with the wipers and service mode. I did not know that and will check it out. It's annoying when cleaning the car... they are down so dam low and I just want to clean 'em! I'm glad others agree about the music resuming / turning radius. I made it an effort NOT to watch other peoples videos and create my OWN list of annoyances. I know some of them are ME things but, it's good to hear from people like you. Thanks for the comment 👊
@@TheSAHDLife You also need to allow the Tesla app access to your calendar(s). That is something you in iPhone/Settings/apps/Tesla/Calendars I've set mine to full access. The car's navigation now automatically points to my next appointment. OR simply tap the clock on top of your car's screen to see your appointments. If there is a location in your calendar item, you can tap on the navigation arrow to navigate to it.
I have had all kinds of issues with controllers to the point I wonder if my bluetooth is messed up on my car! I'll be chatting more about this in my Tesla accessories video in the next couple weeks but what a bummer eh? Why they don't have their own controllers is beyond me.
How is the Autopilot as of today? Last I heard, it's not as robust as Toyota's. Hard debate on whether to get a Tesla as the tech and speed are huge pros, but feels like a downgrade with the interior even from a Camry LOL. So contradictory but the upgrades do shine more.
Ok, so we've had the vehicle about 6 weeks and have had full-self drive for pretty much most of that time. The wife absolutely LOVES it. The cruise control and ability to create off-sets (e.g 15% above any given speed) is awesome. But the Auto-steer which is somewhere between cruise control and FSD, honestly I haven't really used it too much. It seems handy for highway driving for sure but sadly I can't compare it to Toyota's. I'd love to though. As far as the interior... to be honest, I LOVE it. I haven't spent much time in older Tesla's since I wanted to get a refreshed version, but this one is beautiful. Everything feels and looks great. I've been in quite a few other new vehicles lately and the Tesla definitely suits my style. So I guess that's more of a personal preference type answer. To answer your question though the free cruise control (not paid FSD) is the best I've ever used but I've only used maybe 4-5 over the last few years (Mazda, Mitsubishi, Kia, Hyundai, Honda).
@@TheSAHDLife Thx for your update. Unfortunately I'm not forking over an extra $8k for FSD and just curious about Autopilot (which I think should be a category of it's own and FSD should not be the subcategory?) but all good in that area. I dunno, never really had a problem w/ driving and FSD feels more like a luxury, not a necessity (unti I try it lol). Well, the more I learn about the tech available, the more forgiving I am with the interior or so called 'minimalism'. I can see myself grow to like it as it has a clean, smooth look where as the Camry can look cluttered with a ton of buttons lol. I think getitng an M3 would be a bigger game changer from my '12 Camry than to a '25 Camry XSE is my current thought process. 🤜
@@rogerh2694 It's funny you say that about the buttons. I've always loved the interior of our 2024 Hyundai Sante Fe Limited Sport. It has ALL the features and, they really crushed the interior/cockpit. But just yesterday I was cleaning it after cleaning the Tesla and... I just couldn't wait to get back in the Tesla. It's slick man. It goes like stink which is fun to drive... and the tech is just, it lets you focus on the fun. I'm really digging it. I wish I had the faster version but I think we made the smart choice 😆 good luck on your decision. I know it's a tough one.
I'm sure a lot of them will be non-issues... at least I hope! I sure am excited to see Juniper. Have you seen any final designs for it? Oh boy I wish we could get one. Probably won't be cheap though :(
To be fair, this should be more "Everything not suiting my preference with the Model 3", except for the game controller not working for you. A lot of those gripes are pretty subjective. I have a pre-refresh and I have just one: the radio and bluetooth not having separate volume settings. A number of times I've bumped up the volume listening to a quiet RUclips video via Bluetooth, and then switched back to radio and having the crap scared out of me. I don't want Android or Apple, I much prefer the built in, but the one addition I would like is to Cast my phone to the screen when parked. Phillip.
@@ElMistroFeroz I don't use the frunk as it isn't automatic. You should not be able to open it from the app as there is no way you can close it again from app.
Haha oh I agree about the title but the thing is with the 'ol RUclips is you have to be dramatic to get clicks. The downside as is evidence from this comment is it can create the wrong tone with viewers so, it's a delicate balance. I always split test my headlines so I'm not sure how it'll end up with this video. I don't disagree with you though. I too wish the voices on bluetooth could be louder without it affecting the music. And screen cast would be sweet!
Well we've only had the car for a month and I just don't use it because I haven't needed to put anything in there yet since the car is quite spacious. Actually we put wet swim trunks and towels in there, so that was nice... but the problem is, since you have to close it manually, you get finger prints all over the hood. And since I'm still in the honeymoon phase I'm trying to keep it clean hehe. That's fading though.
Hehe, so you bought a second Tesla after not liking the first, then realized you didn't like the second one either?! And what did you end up getting instead that you are happier with!? So many questions!
I am came to peace with all the shortcomings in my Tesla because there was still more pros than cons - but for you, maybe you should not even have bought this car. Tesla Software and seating-position seem like major showstoppers.
Oh wait until you see the pro list! I love this thing for sure and I'm glad we bought it. It's not perfect though. For me coming to peace means identifying all of the things and putting them on a table so that I know what they are instead of just letting them bother me. Plus there's so many ways to fix a lot of the stuff with accessories etc
@@TheSAHDLife No car is perfect, I own a VW 2024 ID.4 built in the U.S. The car is great, drives well, looks more like a classic car from inside which I like more than the Tesla design, but this is personal preference. But it came with some software issues, and some built quality issues which have been fixed already. As for the software issues, I wish VW would learn from Tesla. So, every car has his flaws and with so much tech in it, we will have to live with that. Every car maker has made different design choices, we can't like all choices 100%, but if the pros outweigh the cons, you made the right choice.
That's awesome that 16/17 years later It's still running and you're happy with it. I'm sure that doesn't owe you anything!! Imagine all those people out there driving a V8 for the same amount of time how much more they would have spent...
Hehe... I hear you. Though I think just because something is great doesn't mean we can't talk about where it's weak. It IS a big cons list but you know what, the pros list is way bigger! I'm looking forward to doing that video.
Yours smells bad?! Hehe I wonder if it's the same as ours. Our sniffers are pretty sensitive... it doesn't seem like ours smells off. But with that being said it's not my first choice either.
I'm not sure if you have seen my previous videos but, I love the car! We definitely did our homework BUT with that being said, there's things you can't learn until you spend some real time behind the wheel and that's what this video is about. My next video (the PROS) will talk more about that.
strang 6 foot here no problem getting comfy. I guess personal, no problemnt with xbox or play station controllers, or blue tooth head phones. Apple and apple calendar works flawlessly, Mine always talks priority. Yes no spare option and no charger suck. your mud flaps are hitting if your belly was hitting it would be verr loud and jarring. And could damage the car. try Joe mode for alerts.
Man, that's crazy you were able to get all those controllers working. Dang! Yeah maybe there's something weird going on with the bluetooth or something in our car. And yeah with the comfort, maybe it's just I'm used to sitting in a taller SUV where you sit more like in a chair with the legs dangling, instead of a car where your legs are in front. I do love the seats though. And yeah good call about the sound of bottoming out. The sound it made when we went over a wide speed bump on an angle was horrible but there doesn't seem to be any damage thank goodness. It's funny, another owner mentioned steering shake and sure enough yesterday I randomly experienced it for about 1 second. Weird little blips I hope don't happen often. We'll see.
Hehe never! I realize this video made it seem like I don't like the car but I really do. It's fantastic! We've put on 1600kms/1000miles and it's cost $30CAD/$20USD. An ICE car couldn't do that! A Toyota Grand Highland Hybrid wouldn't suck though ;)
Oh I don't disagree. These guys actually design cars, I'm just some random guy who's only owned a Tesla for a couple months. LOVE the car but it's not perfect. Do you like those things I pointed out in the video in your Tesla?
@@BobbieGWhiz Just depends on who you talk to. I'm 5'7 but 177pds, even more than the 5'10 guy but look pretty slender but fairly muscular from bodybuilding.

Why did you buy the car?
For fuel savings. We were spending $350-400 a month in gas. Now we're down to
@@ric12-o2k Good question.
Do you have solar?@@TheSAHDLife
@@ryuhayabusa3540 We do not but electricity is quite cheap where we live which helps keeps our fuel costs down. 1200 miles has cost us about $25 USD... or 2,000kms for $35 CAD. That's about 1/10th of what it cost in our ICE vehicle!
@TheSAHDLife damn wish i lived there. Where i live, it is 14.1c/kwh
When you want to clean the wipers and windscreen, put the wipers into service mode. It disconnects the arms so you can put them in whatever position you want as you clean the window and the wiper rubbers.
Great share, thanks!
@@TheSAHDLife interesting. Could be a thing!
respect for the honesty, dont see a lot of honest reviews of tesla products.
Thanks for that. Really appreciate the comment 👊
I know some people like android auto and CarPlay but honestly, once you’re using everything in the car after a while, you really get used to just dealing with all the things in the car and I don’t miss those things whatsoever anymore
11) Phone connectivity - I usually don’t have this problem however, there’s one thing that you should realize if your phone doesn’t connect.
The wipers have a service mode to help you clean them
Yeah, good call! Wondered what that was for.
for android create a routine = if Bluetooth connect to tesla then turn on hotspot and another routine = if your home wifi then turn off hotspot
Good share thanks, I'll check it out!
Automatic hotspot on Samsung phones, set up a routine to turn on and off hotspot when connected to car via Bluetooth
Right?! Is a spacesaver just a small spare tire? I'm not familiar with that term.
@@TheSAHDLife Yes, it's a narrower and lighter spare. I think Donut tire might be the equivalent term on your side of the pond.
I really hope we don't have those issues since our nearest dealership is hours away :(
Good call about the mud flaps.
YES, all great points! Also the rear windows don't roll all the way down which is a bit annoying.
Edit: Still love it though!
@@TheSAHDLife well, I bought the thing too after a ton of research, so what does that say?
I got a home charger with the car (Netherlands) maybe they don't give them in US.

Open Tesla app, tap the 3 lines top right, tap your name, SCROLL UP.
That is something you in iPhone/Settings/apps/Tesla/Calendars
I've set mine to full access. The car's navigation now automatically points to my next appointment.
OR simply tap the clock on top of your car's screen to see your appointments. If there is a location in your calendar item, you can tap on the navigation arrow to navigate to it.
Thank you for the calendar sync tip 🙌🏼
My PlayStation 4 controllers were not functioning properly, and I was unable to establish a Bluetooth connection.
Hopefully they can fix these on the juniper
Phillip.
It’s obvious it’s this guy’s first Tesla. I had to stop at the point he said he never uses the frunk because it isn’t automatic.
@@ElMistroFeroz I don't use the frunk as it isn't automatic. You should not be able to open it from the app as there is no way you can close it again from app.
You have a pre-refresh. This is about the refresh/highland. I have one and agree on most points.
Zero regrets after selling my 2nd tesla 😀 carplay is better imho.
Nice comment! What made you choose the id4 over the competition?
Still love my 2008 Prius due to roomy interior and plenty of leg room
That's awesome that 16/17 years later It's still running and you're happy with it. I'm sure that doesn't owe you anything!! Imagine all those people out there driving a V8 for the same amount of time how much more they would have spent...
I think he needs to start building a cars to his spec, he’ll probably just sell one.
You crucified the car for 9 minutes. How great can it really be 😂 ? It’s such a luxury and privilege to have these first world 🌎 problems.
Hehe... I hear you. Though I think just because something is great doesn't mean we can't talk about where it's weak. It IS a big cons list but you know what, the pros list is way bigger! I'm looking forward to doing that video.
I wish they didn't use the vegan leather. It smells horrible and doesn't seem to ever go away.
Yours smells bad?! Hehe I wonder if it's the same as ours. Our sniffers are pretty sensitive... it doesn't seem like ours smells off. But with that being said it's not my first choice either.
You should have down your homework before you bought the car.
I'm not sure if you have seen my previous videos but, I love the car! We definitely did our homework BUT with that being said, there's things you can't learn until you spend some real time behind the wheel and that's what this video is about. My next video (the PROS) will talk more about that.
Sell it
strang 6 foot here no problem getting comfy.
We'll see.
Buy a big ICE car.
Hehe never! I realize this video made it seem like I don't like the car but I really do. It's fantastic! We've put on 1600kms/1000miles and it's cost $30CAD/$20USD. An ICE car couldn't do that!
A Toyota Grand Highland Hybrid wouldn't suck though ;)
😂😂😂😂😂 you are wrong not Tesla
Oh I don't disagree. These guys actually design cars, I'm just some random guy who's only owned a Tesla for a couple months. LOVE the car but it's not perfect. Do you like those things I pointed out in the video in your Tesla?
5 foot 10 - 170 pounds. BMI equals 27.2 which falls into the overweight but not obese category. Just sayin’.
The 'ol Covid 19 lbs!
Depends on how much muscle you have
@@rogerh2694 Unfortunately, that’s not usually the case.
@@BobbieGWhiz Just depends on who you talk to. I'm 5'7 but 177pds, even more than the 5'10 guy but look pretty slender but fairly muscular from bodybuilding.
@ Great. If you don’t have any fat around your middle, flanks, or buttocks then your elevated BMI does not suggest obesity.
