Great and fun video. Love it when you thought you cut the wrong. Have been there before. Living in P'cola, our plants are dying and I was wondering if the "fungus" powder would help us up here? Not sure the name but will give it a try, or at least my roommate will. Will check out the videos and will forward to Donna Bea.
Yes, the beneficial, mycorrhizae fungi would work anywhere. A lot of different brands have it, so you don't necessarily have to get the brand I got. Ideally I would look for one that at least has several different varieties of mycorrhizae spores. That way, if one doesn't do well in your part of the state, another might have a much better shot. About cutting the wrong one, for a split second, that fear on my face was real, and I thought just maybe I cut the wrong one. LOL! Glad you enjoyed it, and I hope you and Donna subscribe and enjoy the channel! XO
@4:00 It looks like you thought you cut off the wrong one. The look on your face! LOL. All in all very informative and entertaining. And you are... um... so adorable.
Thanks Daniel! LOL! Informative and entertaining was exactly what I was going for on this and whenever I can in future episodes. I hope you subscribe if you haven't already!
Yes, I explained that later in the video. It's why I cut out the bottom and along the side. This is a method more commonly used to protect fig trees when planted in the ground since they are also susceptible to nematodes. It gives the tap root a chance to sink down to a depth that most nematodes don't, or can't live.
I have actually loped a male to get a female. Heard about this about 3yrs ago. Why do you dispose of the other papaya plants? I have successfully transplanted papayas. I actually have a little one which I pulled off of my "Ian beaten," regrown papaya that growing
Ones that have switched to female have never been very productive for me, and I have limited space. Glad to hear that worked for you. Were they just as productive as natural females?
This was such a funny episode 😂. Thanks for all the info. Perfect timing since I just started growing papaya from seed, I have some seedlings in a large container, fingers crossed at least one is a hermaphrodite so I can keep just 1 tree
Glad you enjoyed this! Isn't nature fascinating?! And it's good for us to have a good laugh during times like this. More and more I guess I'm coming out of my introverted shell, and feeling more comfortable in front of the camera. I hope to bring more content that is just as entertaining as it is informative. I really appreciate your feedback Alejandra!
OH WOW * AWESOME *
LOL! Glad you enjoyed it!
Thanks for the tips!
LOVE IT! Both informative and entertaining, although the funniest so far!
Thanks Michael! Glad you love it!
@@StacksUrbanHarvest We look forward to that next episode about Kimchi!
Great episode! I've tried growing papaya in the past. I just might be inspired to give it a go again.
Glad you enjoyed this. It was a long shoot day in one of the hottest days of August, but turned out to be a fun one! 😀
Thanks Stack man, I just got some papaya plants and you answered so many questions!
Glad this was helpful, Greg!

Funny thing is that for a split second, I thought maybe I did cut the wrong one. So that look was pretty genuine! LOL
I did not get the comment about planting it with the container to avoid nematodes. Do you pull the container out later?

Let me know how it goes as your papaya growing goes.
