Jared, I grew up in rural Henderson County, NC. (Flat Rock and Hendersonville area), and know lots of stories. And though I am a writer by trade, NOBODY can tell a story like you! Please keep up the great work!
Well bless your heart, Laura! Thank you so, so much. That comment absolutely made my day! Thank you for watching and enjoying these ole stories. I'd love to hear some of the stories you have sometime. Thanks again and have a good'n!
Maybe the two of you could collaborate, and trade stories for production. . Just a thought
Oooo I used to go up there to NC every summer when I was a teen. So beautiful but also spooky
My family’s from Cherokee/ Haywood Cty and East TN and I agree with this comment! I’m living in the Midwest now and listen to your stories whenever I’m feeling homesick 🥺 thank you!!
Great job Jared I live in WV love these Ole timey stories keep it up brother.
These stories enthrall me. I'm from Robertson county Tennessee home of the Bell Witch. These stories are far better than ours I think. I am a believer of all this.
McMinnville TN here! Howdy neighbor. I'm so glad you enjoy all these ole stories!!
I am too
Some of these stories reminds of tales my Grandpa used to tell me when I was growing up.
So glad they can bring back some good ole memories!
As a life long resident of WV, I have heard many stories of incidents like many of the stories you tell. I really miss my grandparent's and people of their age, they were so full of stories and knowledge. The knowledge about preserving, gardening, signs, there is just so much I wish I would have paid a lot closer attention to.
Amen to that! I've wished many MANY times I had listened to a lot more than I did. Thank you so much for watching and enjoying brother. God bless and have a good'n

Animal s can tell god gave them a sense they know
Amen to that sister 🙏 he sure did
That's right. I watch my animals and use that as a gauge to know if something is going on. They don't lie or trick ya like people do. And they will naturally alert to anything that is wrong, if you watch and pay attention to their behavior they'll never steer ya wrong. Just a week or so ago, I came home from work after working all night and my male Cat (Lil Pete) wanted in for breakfast. So I opened the door and followed him inside and he walked straight to the kitchen cabinet under the sink and then he backed up. Well, if you know Lil Pete, you know he's a whinner and always wants food 24/7 so with him going straight to the cabinet doors and not to the washing machine where I put his food on, I knew something was really wrong so I fed him and grabbed a broom and carefully opened the cabinet doors...and there it was! It was a snake!!! Somehow that critter knew there was a snake under my kitchen sink and he'd been outside all night. I was able to get the snake to slither across the glue pad I kept under there to catch the mice and that put a stop to him being able to get away from me, then I took him outside and sent him to God. LOL
I've always said if your Pet doesn't like someone, then it's best that you not trust that person because animals know what's in your heart and they don't second guess themselves or try to mentally explain things away...with them, you're either good or not. And just last week I was at work and outside smoking a cigarette and all of the sudden I heard the birds that were up in the trees just going nutz about something and they were making such a racket I stepped around the building to see what the ruckus was about and low and behold they were squaking about a coyote under the trees...so ya gotta listen to those animals, they'll let ya know when there's trouble.
Enjoyed more than you can ever know! Wow!
Hey kinfolk! Thank you so much for watching and so glad you enjoyed it. God bless and have a good'n

When I was five my mammaw passed away. I was mostly with her up until then. I used to play with her after her passing in our room at my pappaws. I never cried bc I told my mom she hadn’t left me. I still read the bottoms of coffee cups bc of her. I’m no expert but I believe in it.

I loved your stories!, they were scary and interesting too. The old house and log cabins were beautiful. My sister in law, Margaret, used to tell old stories about her shot gun toting mama, Bessie, who lived in the West Virginia mountains, and Devil Ance Hatfield was her mama's cousin. Her stories about her family weren't scary, but they were still interesting and fun to listen too. Thanks for sharing , looking forward to more stories, especially ghost stories! Have a great Sunday. Paw was into some stuff with the underworld..
😂🤣😂 Sounds like Aunt Delphi was having the time of her.....life????
Whoooo lord ain't that the truth!!! 😂
My grandfather used Oxen. During the War they were allowed to cut on State and Federal land and pretty much all they wanted. They cut maple and beech up in the tops. There were some big trees back in those days and it was quite a haul even downhill. He married Grandma when she as sixteen. She lost her first two babies then she had four with no trouble. When my father was twelve, he was coming home with his father and saw his mother laying halfway out of the front door. She had died of food poisoning and she only made it that far. Grandpa heart stopped when he was Sixty. When i was sixty I had to have a pacemaker put in my chest.
I’m going to try to get caught up on some of your stories today I’ve got a few of my own I’ll tell later
Oh sounds good! I love to hear ole stories!!
I grew up on the Cherokee reservation big stores
I'd love to hear some of the stories you have sister! God bless and have a good'n
Love your accent! Beautiful voice.
These tails etc. were thought up to be used as a tool to get people off of properties.
Yeah a lot of tales, legends and stuff was definitely used for that and to keep the younguns from staying up all night and staying close to home lol.
While I have relatives
from the Deep South
on both sides of my family...
I myself did not grow up in
the Deep-South or in Appalachia.
My first (and probably only)
introduction to the people
and 'older' ways of Appalachia
are from Hollywood movies...
most notably...
--"Next of Kin" (1988)
starting the late actors
Patrick Swayze, Bill Paxton
and Liam Neeson who star
as brothers who were raised and
grew up in the hills of Appalachia...
--and the horror movie...
"Pumpkinhead"
with each movie coming out
within about a year
of each other.
While "Next of Kin"
is more of crime/ action movie...
it does have one scene
in particular that was
rather spooky:
At the very beginning of the movie....
Det. Truman Gates (Patrick Swayze)
responds to an apparent
"bar-fight turned murder"...
Gates arrives the apartment of
the main suspect, Billy Simpson,
where Truman & Billy have a chat...
and soon learn they are from neighboring
counties in Kentucky (Harlan & Perry Cos.)...
and Truman claims
that he and his brothers
used to hunt in Willy's
home-county of Harlan
up on "Daggot's Ridge".
Billy explains
that he knows
exactly where Truman
is talking about:
"Hey, there are ghosts up on that ridge.
Yeah...
one time my dogs took me
straight down this hollow (holler??).
There weren't no wind or nothing.
It just got real cold.
Then all at once...
them dogs started to howl.
Like... like they was talking to the dead.
Yeah, man. There are ghosts up on that ridge".
Sure...
it was just a movie...
but that being said...
something was really
eating at Billy Simpson
especially to make him
think of that past memory
that still haunted him.
The next movie "Pumpkinhead"
was supernatural horror film,
starring actor, Lance Henriksen,
who plays "Ed Harley"...
a scorned father who's on the warpath
and seeking vengeance for the untimely death
of his young son at the hands
of reckless teenagers.
Harley seeks out an
(Appalachian??) witch
of Black Ridge named 'Haggis'
who sends Ed Harley
out to "Razorback Holler"...
a cemetery that
apparently served as
an informal resting place
(or dumping-ground)
for those poor souls
who were less-than-loved
or who were downright
rejected and despised.
Or....
as Haggis
put it to
Ed Harley:
"Ever hear of 'Razorback Holler'??...
There's an old graveyard
way back... deep in them woods.
Mountain-folk use to bury kin in there...
kin they was ashamed of!!".
As if that old crone Haggis
couldn't be any scarier...
she wasn't one to mince words
and made no bones about it.
That old woman
looked like she was
nothing but a bag of bones
who couldn't lift herself
out of her rocking chair
even if her last breath
depended on it...
but she easily made the
Wicked Witch of the West
(from the Wizard of Oz)
look sweeter than sugar...
and scared the
living piss out of me.
Holy Sh**!!😳
From what I can recall...
it is never clearly stated
what county, town or state
where the events of
"Pumkinhead"
take place...
That being said...
the only place(s) that
I have ever heard words like
"holler, kin, kin-folk" ect.
has only been in the
Deep South of the US
and especially in Appalachia.
Hahaha..... Loved the story about the old Man who said "get outta my house". 😅 Ya know, he wouldn't have had to tell me twice! Hahaha. I guess he not only didn't like being dead, but didn't like his ' next of kin' too much either. Hahahaha.... I can just see it now! Hahaha sorry, this one made me actually laugh out loud and I almost spewed my Dr Pepper across the desk. 😅

Is that the actual a real picture of the woman? They should have left that barn alone. The twisted sticks may be willow wicker items that sounds like some Keltic folklore I have heard of from the mountains area not to far of a drive from Dublin. You ever hear of the black Spector dogs?
Hey Hang!!! No the pictures are just ones I use as sort of a visual idea for folks. Yeah the sticks may possibly have been! A lot of early Appalachian settlers were Irish and brought a lot of beliefs and traditions over with them. Yeah I've heard a few things about black Spector dog's. I've heard about them in several cultures but it's wild how they all have them an basically do the same thing! Thanks so much for watching and stay awesome 🤙😎
@@JaredKingTV Interesting I’m doing some research on the black dogs across different cultures.I have heard stories from the Ozarks mountain folks about them allot of myth in the UK about them. Also feral people being sighted in National Parks I do a lot of mountain walking so I interested in that .You may enjoy the original Wicker Man movie from the 1970s with Christopher Lee also it has some adult content in case kids are about. Stay free.

Thanks! You help me fall asleep every night. I use to hike, and I live in the coastal area of NH, I wanted to do a short south bound through the white mountains (now a bucket list wish.) Just to say I've been on the AT.
I have a knack for making very nice hiking sticks. If you've got a mailing address that I can send one. please get in touch and I'd be honoured to make you your own Yankee walking stick. I have 2 maple sticks about 10 ft long that have been just drying out in my living room for years and it's time to move them out. Please let me know if you'd like a custom made stick and I'll make it and send it to you. Just need to know how tall you are to create the proper height of the stick or staff...whichever you'd like.. it's not just a stick, each one is unique and I make them for Christmas presents for family. I also need to know your favourite color to further customize your stick.
Thanks again Jared you make a difference in so many lives.
Your Yankee brother in Christ, Pooly.
