When I hurt my back years back I used to leverage my net in a similar fashion for bigger cats and later Salmon ( when I moved to Oregon) . After breaking two just like you did I started putting PCV pipe inside the handle. I have not fished in years, but the last net I did that too is somewhere around here.

Hi Dave, long time listener, first time caller, great video. You can fix your dark colored rods very easily with a couple bucks worth of white plumbers tape, and a bottle of clear nail polish. Wrap a strip of tape under each rod eye, and seal the end with the nail polish. Voila, (french for hot damn that works good) you have visible rods at night. They don't change the action of the rod and will last for years.

This dude is pro- idgaf but when it comes to fish Dave has to show what's possible & in a less than likely scenario- remember when he used to hook on to those huge stripers and they'd croke upon release,,lol. Dave must've found himself a decent routine to get on hot spots for great content.... Truly admirable.

Really appreciate the discussions around bait patterns during the different times of the year. You can see this pattern in Oklahoma also, as the 3-4 inch threadfin are pushed up shallower as well. Now If I can just figure out the big Gizzards and where they stage Ill be set.

So, Dave. When are you going to go up to Kentucky and point-man for Michael? 🙂
Have you seen the saltwater nets that have the grip handle down at the head of the net? Pretty spiffy and even that ergonomic whatchamathangit stuff. I saw one at the Walmart here but I live on an island in salt water and Walmart might not have them there. It was American made and seemed pretty ruggedly constructed. I thought about you when I was looking at it because it would be a great net for a 70-pounder.
I'm glad you had that awesome day and evening out there with ample skipjack and then a few blues to boot. Can't beat that with a stick.
Absolutely I have to thank you very much for letting us enjoy it, too. 👍‍🎣🇺🇸

Them ditch pickles are lucky the skips are so plentiful this time of year. You can use a little reflective tape to nocturnalize those dark rods if you're inclined. Do you find the sonar effects the catfish bite while suspending? My favorite time of year as well!!

When you get your new net a simple hack you can do is to get a wood dowel that fits just inside the aluminum handle. This will add strength without sacrificing much for the weight added. It also will add some buoyancy if the net goes in the water unexpectedly.

It Would be Lightweight , Strong , and Cheaper Than the Whole Net , But I’m Just a Poor Fishing Guy !!!
