If the lord made anything better than Crappie fishing he kept it for himself! Nice catch and video! You keep that boy busy and he won't stray down the wrong path! God bless!
Ha, since you mentioned it, we still use a fish basket from, time to time as well my friend. Love it. Good times. Nice find for the rods and reels.. Good job mr Hagen on the rod and reel finds you founds. Nicely done. Those Ugly sticks will last for ever as well. Yes sir, I wont own a G Loomis either. Can't afford it. Fun to see all making your own jigs, I started. making them last year and have really been enjoying it as well. Good day of fishing sir, thanks for taking us along with you. Dale
I bought my last basket, like the one you're using, in the mid 80s after someone took the other one that I had, along with the boat it was in! I used to keep it with me in my truck or boat as I used it mostly for trot line bait. I may not set out trot lines anymore but I still keep it with me as another option to keep live bait and smaller "keepers", as if I ever intended to keep any.
I run a 18’ wide body flat bottom John boat and I had never spent over a couple hundred dollars for a trolling motor and I definitely wanted to get a good trolling motor for my boat!!! I definitely kept thinking if it was worth spending 2000.00$ dollars for a trolling motor or not but ended up picking one up!!! After finding out that it had the spot lock on it and a bunch of other cool features and after using it for a while and finding out that I didn’t have to throw an anchor out if I wanted to stay in a certain spot and having a chance at scaring the fish away I was definitely hooked for sure and kept telling myself that I definitely spent my hard earned money for something very useful for fishing!!! Now after having the trolling motor for several years now I definitely couldn’t go with out one with the spot lock on one for sure!!! When I baught my 24volt trolling motor I had the option of a black one or a white one for salt water!!! I ended up going with the white one because it’s usually pretty hot out when using the trolling motor and I thought that the black ones would get extra hot with being out in the sun trying to fish so I went with the white thinking maybe I might get a few extra years out of it because it wouldn’t be getting as hot as a black one would!!!! I don’t no if that is actually true but I definitely thought it would!!! I can actually troll around a lake all day long using two yellow top optima batteries!!! One time I got out quite a ways from the boat launch and my boat motor would not start for some reason so I ended up having to use the trolling motor to get back to the boat launch and it actually was able to get me back!!! That definitely saved me that day for sure!!! Awesome video and I’d definitely love to see more crappie videos along with a catch, clean, cook videos also!!! Thanks again buddy and remember keep up all the hard work buddy!!!!
Crappie fishing is pretty fun all right! And it's a little bit better when you tie your own jig. A well tied jig will outlast the plastic baits by far, I sometimes get a hundred fish on one jig. Always good to see you two catching fish.
I got one of them old shimano’s reels that it was given to me on a abu Garcia vendetta rod for free didn’t know they cost that much now I know thanks to you great video
Great video Hagen. I still use one of those baskets when I use my jon boat instead of my Tracker. Last spring bluegill fishing I had my basket at the back of the boat and my dad had his basket up front with him.
Hey Hagen that’s my kind of fishing old school and effective 😂 I really enjoyed the video and Taylorsville is one of my favorite lakes in Kentucky to fish. Glad to see Landon catch some on his hand tied jig sorry he lost it though. God bless you and you family and hope to see you on the water someday
Great. A lot of fun to watch.👍 A lot of people do seem to like Crappie videos. For me RUclips seems to push out my crappie videos more than catfish videos. Keep up the good work.
Awesome Video Brother. That was some nice crappie. Time for some tacos. Hopefully I can get out on the river this year and get some Bass like that too!
Here is a tip to keep the new line on your reel from spooling off on it's own . Take your newly filled reel with the new line. Put it under your tap with the hottest water let the line on the reel get good and soaked with hot ater . (about 3 minutes under completely hot water ,not luke warm) Then get your tap as cold it can get and soak that for at least 3 minutes . Don't wait do it fast while the line on the reel is hot. Wait till the line is good and cold. Thats it no more line coming off. I used to leave my newly spooled rod and reel in a hot car but this works better.Good luck. Tight lines.
I always use a basket for bluegill, crappie, etc. As far as line twist, I bought the line spooler from Piscifun. It works great for quick respooling and virtually eliminates line twist as well.
Take your spools after spooling them and place in hot water about 100 degrees for about 20 minutes and then let set aside until they cool off to get rid of the line memory.
Heck yeah guys!!! Congratulations on the rod and the stradic reel. I found a shimano baitrunner at a thift shop for 10 bucks. I knew exactly what it was as soon as i seen it. Love it!!
I used tolaunch at chowning all the time and fish timber creek. Haven’t been there in a while. We might run into each other out there one day. Thanks for watching and good luck out there👍
Man that line breaking when Landon grabbed it brings back not so good memories lol. I hung a SLAB and when my daddy leaned over to get it he grabbed my line….& it snapped. I was SICK because that crappie was every bit of 3 lbs., maybe more, & that’s no lie. Smdh….that was probably 16-18 yrs ago & I still give him hell over it.😭🤢😡
The worst part is we had a net with us all day and never used it 🤦♂️ I’d be sick to if I lost a 3lber that close to boat. Thanks for sharing and thanks for watching
I have terrible luck at taylorsville, of course never have time to crappie fish to get the hang of it haha. Should take your son to the BWCA up in northern Minnesota. Canoe and camp for a week up there, best fishing there is. Only canoes allowed after certain spot, so low pressure, best smallmouth and walleye fishing.
Trick to spinning reels is to lay the spool on the ground and reel it on that way. Don't put it on a pole/spindle/pencil and reel it on like a bait caster. Both need separate ways to putting line on.
Is that Taylorsville? Would you share your top three lakes in North Central KY (between Lexington and Maysville) for panfish and channels. I'd like to get out to do some fun fishing once in a while and don't want to have to travel more than an hour or so. Thanks
They are found on river systems, mainly tributaries of the Mississippi and Ohio rivers. The Tennessee and Cumberland river have a great population of them. They can be found below dams most of the time, especially in the spring time. Here’s an older video I done on skipjack fishing if you would like to check it out. Thanks for watching. ruclips.net/video/74p7lWSkTAc/видео.html
youre right, live scope makes me sick to watch. its not fishing when you see the lure going in the fishes mouth youre seeing right on the screen. most people will always take more than they need with or without it though, its just another disadvantage to the wildlife. the people that use all the technology are spoild brats with more money to use to buy it than brains to think how and where to actually catch fish with nothing more than your rod, tackle and knowledge.
the ole fish basket over the side of the boat with the days catch the good times
If the lord made anything better than Crappie fishing he kept it for himself! Nice catch and video! You keep that boy busy and he won't stray down the wrong path! God bless!
Good ole down to earth crappie fishing enjoyed Hagen be safe God Bless
Thank you for watching
Hey I really appreciate you switching up and showing me my favorite fishing. Crappie fishing.

Nice crappies! Always fun to watch you and Landon catching fish, don't matter which species.
That looked like a good time! I just love that boat!! Blessings to you
Wow I didn't realize yall had crappie in the pond at home. That is a blessing. I think crappie are the finest eating freshwater fish.
I won’t give up your spot , but I know where you guys were. Glad to see you hammered em
Love the crappie fishing !!

Great video, good to see you fellers back at it.
Great video. Favorite part.. "this one's a little thin, I'm gonna throw him back" thud (fish lands in bottom of boat).."he's dead" 😆 🤣 😂
Sick video man! I love making fishing videos myself and your videos and so entertaining and fun to watch!!
I really appreciate that man, thank you for watching

Way to go!!
Nice to see you and Landon back at it 👊👍
You just got yourself a new subscriber keep em coming 💪🏾💯⭐
Thank you 👍
I still do the basket over the boat, but I use a pop up hamper instead. Natural water flow is best. Loved the video!
I'm building my long line setup outta my kayak currently. No sonar, just trolling along with jigs. Starting to love it
Yall were slaying them !
Great day fishing, thanks for the tips!

I’ve heard good things about that line spooler from piscifun. Thanks for sharing. Thanks for watching 👍
Nice trip.
Awesome camera quality
Nice video Hagen!

I’d like to see a video of y’all making some homemade baits
Enjoyed the video.....something different for you guys
Thank you for watching
Nice!
Nice to see you break away from cats for a bit! I’m assuming your at Tville! They were on fire and still are!
Heck yeah guys!!! Congratulations on the rod and the stradic reel. I found a shimano baitrunner at a thift shop for 10 bucks. I knew exactly what it was as soon as i seen it. Love it!!
I was fishing out of the Chowning lane ramp the same day but didn't do as good as you guys did.
I used tolaunch at chowning all the time and fish timber creek. Haven’t been there in a while. We might run into each other out there one day. Thanks for watching and good luck out there👍
Crappie don'seem to be biting in Ok. Water temp still too cold... low 60's. Nice fish; you'll be eating good!
Y’all need to come down to Grenada lake in Mississippi to crappy fish. It’s world know for them.
Man that line breaking when Landon grabbed it brings back not so good memories lol. I hung a SLAB and when my daddy leaned over to get it he grabbed my line….& it snapped. I was wondering if you still had the jon boat
Nice boat by the way. How long and wide is that Jon boat? Thanks
You should put Landon's jigs on your merch page.
I throw the whole spool in the sink with warm water to spool the line. If you do it on the boat, throw the spool in your livewell.
You need a MOJO and you won't lose your jig

Boot kicking krappie boys
Dude, where'd you det your circle hook hat clip at? I've lookin everywhere and can't find them.
I couldn’t find them either so I made mine out of a coat hanger on a slow day at work a few years ago. Thanks for watching
When you get the thing to put on your trolling motor to make it have spot lock can you do a video on it
Hubby is dropping me and the boat off Thursday fingers crossed

Heck yall out fish me at I was there a fue mouths back scoping with minnows and only got one 10" fish lots of Little ones tho

That bait looks nearly identical to a Zoom Tiny Fluke.
Love what your doin.... we fish in Western Kentucky...how can I get in touch with ya?
Question... Are skipjack found in most lakes? And how is the best way to find and catch them

I am waiting to set my boat up for catfishing. Could I contact you from some advice?
Mr. Hagen. I’m a 300lb plus man. What size boat do I need to get? I want one that will hold me
Where you from bro
Central Kentucky, thanks for watching
Great video! Did you build the box that your fish finder is mounted on?
Live scope will end croppie fishing because it's not fishing its watching a screen people are taking too many fish you will see the change in limits
