  • Syrian Arab Red Crescent volunteers have been working around the clock every day since the beginning of the events 8 months ago. In the past, they used to carry out simple activities like transporting sick people. Today, they are faced with highly demanding tasks in dangerous areas. What they do is making a difference between life and death.

    1. they are events: to refer to 'protests' would be to make a qualification regarding the conflict status....thus affecting the neutrality or perception of neutrality of the humanitarian action.
    2. there is more going on than just protests, there is also violent acts being perpetrated by government forces and it seems inter fighting between opposition groups...regardless of the violence it is the mandate of the red cross to provide humanitarian assistance to those who are in need of it.

I am from Pakistan and without a medical background, how can I join the Red Crescent and train as a medic and serve in Syria or Yemen?
